Pros:
Tomatoes were ripe
Sweet potato fries were pretty good
Waitstaff seemed nice
No wait to be seated
Cons:
Dirty water glass (finger prints and something crusty on the edge)
Burger was overcooked
Some ordered items were unavailable
Beignets were surprisingly cold
Took a really long time to get the waiter's attention
There was a hair (probably dog or cat fur) across my food
Couldn't finished chicken sandwich because the chicken was too chewy
Credit card machine was down (would recommend checking out Square) -

First impression of walking in this place was a "hipster-ish" vibe. Not normally a place I'd walk in, but I had two work lunches here so I came in with an open mind.
First time I was here I ordered an eggs benedict option which was amazing. The second time I had the fire burger which was also good. The sides like the fries do a good job of filling you up - I recommend the sweet potato fries, they're very good. The quality of the food is pretty good!
But for me, I just felt like the place falls short of the "standing ovation" experience or the 4 stars. Food takes a very long time to come out - so don't eat here if you're in a hurry. That's not going to work out. This place is a 3.5 for me really.
Highlight of Triptych for me? The Disco posters in the shitter in the back of the restaurant.
Do yourself a favor and have a weekend Mimosa brunch here and not a working lunch - the unrushed vibe with a little bubbly will go well here. -

Turkey burger and chicken club are straight up tasty. Juicy not dry. Organic side salad was tops!
Cool vibe. Artists are featured for sale as name might imply. There's a patio out back for al fresco dining.
Laid back but attentive service.
Definitely will need to come back for the tater tots and sweet potato fries (look very tempting). -
Picked Triptych for our Mother's Day dinner because it's relatively close to AT&T Park (Mom was at the ballgame) and because they have a good variety of items on their menu. On a Sunday night the place was pretty empty, just us and a couple other tables. We were seated by the window so the dinginess described by other reviews didn't bother us.
Ordered a variety of dishes. Brother had the gourmet burger and sweet potato fries. Son the gnocchi and sausage special, wife the paella supremo. sis the ossoc bucco, Mom the lamb and me the breaded pork loin.
Burger & sweet potato fries: OK, not great. 3 stars.
Gnocchi and sausage, but tasty but a little too much garlic. 3.5 stars
Paella: didn't try it.
Osso bucco: Soft and tender, fell right off the bone. 4 stars
Lamb: 3 small shanks. A little undercooked for my taste. 3.5 stars
My pork loin: Loved it. Soft and tender, lightly breaded and perfectly cooked. 5 stars.
Deserts: had the beignets, toffee pudding and mousse. All great. 4.5 stars.
Service: server was real nice, but service was slow. Even with only 1 or 2 other tables, service was slow. Took us 2 hours to eat. Sometimes we didn't see him (its a small restaurant) so we were wondering wtf he was doing. Granted we were enjoying Mother's Day and each others company, but still slow. 3.5 stars.
Overall, a mixed bag but will round up because Mom and wife enjoyed their Mother's Day dinner so I'm in a good mood ;-). 4 stars. -

I love Triptych. It is a great steady go to that consistently satisfies the taste buds without breaking the bank. I am speaking primarily for brunch and lunch as I have little experience with dinners.
I used to go frequently for brunch on the weekends and always loved the carafes of different types of mimosas, the croque madame, and the tater tots, sweet potato fries or healthy greens that I rotated as sides. They have beignets too! I miss having it as my neighborhood brunch joint and need to make a point to go back more frequently.
Today I organized a coworker lunch and being able to make a reservation was key. The meal was a hit with all six people with different entrees- fish sandwich, club, turkey burger, beef burger and yes they serve the croque madame during weekday lunch :) The prices don't make you go broke and the food was damn tasty. Seriously how do they get their tater tots so crispy?! We were also given samples of a tasty beet juice made by them and a local kombucha. Both delicious and nice to be given some samplings. My only regret was not getting any of the beignets! -

I went for brunch for a friend's birthday. I like the different flavors of mimosa that they had! I just opted for the grapefruit.. but I heard the sangria was delicious and the beet was as well! The peach was the least favorite from my friends.
The food was also delicious. I got the pulled pork which was great and they have sweet potato fries and tater tots. The service was a bit sub par- hence the deduction of a star.. but we had a large party which I understand. They were great about refilling the unlimited mimosas until a specific point before the end of it which was disappointing and we had to ask for more.
You are only allowed to use 1 credit card per table so use venmo or cash!
Also the deal is that if you spend 30- including food and mimosa then you get unlimited mimosas! which is a pretty good deal. -

I've eaten here several times and each time has been a wonderful experience....for my last visit: ...i should have known better than to come here with a friend with whom i've dined here before - she was so enamoured of the beignets (which are more like popovers than a heavy beignet) - that we had them as an appetizer. Then we both had the Southwestern Burger - she rare, me medium rare - with sweet potato fries - the burgers were exquisite and among the best we've ever had; the sweet potato fries were good, but shaped as if they came from a food supplier. Then my friend wanted beignets for dessert and she just ate one of the three - I wound up eating the two remaining. Lunch on the patio with plants all around was wonderful as usual - but I shouldn't have eaten that second order of beignets (they're irrestible though).

I went here for Breakfast/Brunch on a Sunday hoping I could get a good omelette and some coffee. Obviously that didn't happen.
My friend ordered a side of sweet potato fries and I wanted to laugh when they were put in front of us. There was no attempt to disguise the fact that these were the same fries you could purchase from the frozen food section at Safeway. They were the crinkly cut McCain variety served with a dipping sauce that tasted like mayonnaise.
I had ordered my omelette well-done but what I was served was barely even warm. The omelette was eggs poured from a carton, with two slices of sandwich meat ham and the tiniest, tiniest amount of cheese. I had also assumed that the potatoes that came with the meal would be home fries. Instead we got regular dinner potatoes that were oddly seasoned and soggy. Not fried, soggy.
You're better off just staying home. This was like going out to eat TV dinners. -

decent brunch spot with lots of open space, high ceilings and interesting decor.
I came here with a friend on Saturday around noon after giving up on the long line at Dottie's. Triptych was busy, but there was no line so we got seated right away.
Service was great and attentive. I even got soy milk with my coffee.
Portions are generous, especially for brunch. I got the quinoa tofu which has a curry base with veggies. It was tasty! My friend ordered the Mediterranean salad and we shared a side of sweet potato fries. Would definitely come back again since I live in the neighborhood and there's no line. -

Crab benefit was a bit dry and under season. Burger meat was too salty. Service was good. Deco was good. Price was reasonable. Sweet potato fries was good.

Wednesday evening we went out to dinner with some friends. Instead of our usual haunts, we decided to check out a restaurant in the South of Market (SOMA) area of San Francisco. Our friends made the reservation at Triptych on Folsom.
The reservations were for 6:30, a bit early by San Francisco standards, and when we arrived the restaurant was empty. If it was not for the large table setting for 20 people, I would have been a bit worried about the choice of restaurants. Even without the table setting, the food would have eased anyone's mind.
This place is great! The sweet potato fries, which are served with a sweet chili aioli were hot, and delicious. If I were to nitpick about anything is would be that they were not as crispy as this little doggy would have preferred.
As an entrée I ordered the shitake ravioli with artichoke hearts in a warm brown butter lemon sauce. This was the highlight of the evening. The pasta was done to perfection, the artichokes hearts were pan seared until crisp on the outside while maintaining their moist delicate flavors. Other entrée's ordered at the table must have been just as good because no one would share Shame on you! They consisted of Butternut Squash Ravioli, and the Pork Osso Buco. On a side note, the salads are large enough for two people and at a price range of under $10.00 they are well worth ordering. If you love beets you'll want to order the beet salad.
Triptych was a great find. I will definitely be back. The owner and waiter got to know each of us at the table by name by the end of the night. They treat their customers like family and that above the delicious food will keep my coming back.
From my dog bowl to yours...Happy Eating.

I really appreciate the quality ingredients throughout the menu. Friendly staff. Fun decor. I work nearby so end up going there for lunch but really want to check out a mimosa brunch soon. Sweet potato fries are great, and I have never been disappointed by their daily soups.

OK... why aren't the ratings on this place higher?!?!
A friend brought me here for brunch after the Rock n Roll SF Half Marathon. The space is eclectic and charming, and we ate in the nice covered back patio. There is a hallway lined with local art--check it out.
Our server was nice and super helpful. My friend is gluten free, and our server told him he could get any of the benedicts with a gluten-free preparation. Awesome! We shared starters of sweet potato fries and gluten-free beignets--delish. I had the Croque Madame, but since I don't eat pork, they were able to substitute with turkey--score! Everything we had was fresh and delicious.
Our server was attentive, helpful and friendly, but we were also given time to linger and enjoy our meal.
I will definitely seek this out next time I am up in SF! -

We came here early in the evening and we're I think one of the first patrons that night. The servers were friendly but took their sweet time to bring is menus and come back to take our order, so that's the reason for the -1 pt.
Now for the good stuff! My friend and I bought ordered the house-made ravioli and it was amazing! I had the butternut squash ravioli and my friend the mushroom, both were delicate and fresh but savory and full of flavor! The sweet squash paired with the tart balsamic dressing and greens was just perfection. Also we tried the sweet potato fries and eggplant appetizer, both very well made and tasty!
The pasta dishes were well worth the slow service, I would definitely go back just for the ravioli :) -

I'm writing from the perspective of a 15+ year vegan. Finding brunch places with good vegan options in SF is not always easy. While Triptych does not have vegan versions of brunch items (e.g. veggie sausage, vegan pancakes / waffles / french toast, etc.), they do have plenty of healthy and delicious vegan options to choose from.
I came with my girlfriend on a Saturday around 11am. The place was busy but they still had plenty of seating. Oh, and we didn't have any trouble find parking either, which was a huge plus.
They've got a hidden courtyard / garden with seating in the back, which is where we ended up sitting; it was fantastic. It's shaded so you're not getting too much sun, but still enough to feel you're outdoors and able to enjoy the light, the breeze, and a little natural vegetation.
I ordered the Quinoa and tofu dish, which was in a delicious coconut curry sauce with mushrooms, bell peppers, and other deliciousness. It was topped with a parsley and tahini pesto. While not technically brunch, I was just glad to find something delicious and healthy to eat while my girlfriend enjoyed her omelet.
They do have a number of other vegan options, including a spring vegetable tagine, a veggie burger that sounded delicious, roasted veggie sandwich (would probably need to check on the bread and pesto), fresh fruit plate, roasted potatoes, sweet potato fries, etc. We also had a carafe of their v-juice(?), which was a mix of beets, carrots, orange juice, and grapefruit juice--very good!
I'll be back! -

5 stars for brunch. I've never been to Triptych for dinner and probably won't ever after reading all the 1 or 2-star dinner reviews. Brunch is great though. I recommend starting the meal off with the beignets. It comes with an amazing berry-flavored spread with fresh fruit around the plate. As for savory, there's a wide selection of typical breakfast menu items- eggs benedict, scrambles, omelets. All are delicious and cooked perfectly. The croque madame with a side of sweet potato fries is my go-to order.
Only downside is that service slows down sometimes when the restaurant is packed. Otherwise if you come earlier or later in the day, food comes out quicker than most other brunch places in the city. There's only been 1 or 2 times where I have had to wait more than 5 min for a table. They also have a patio out back that is awesome when the weather is nice. If you live in the city, I'd say this place is worth checking out. -

Went here as it was recommended to us by a friend who is familiar with SF restaurants near the Orpheum theater. We were very pleased with our food and friendly service. We were greeted with sparkling wine which was complimentary because we checked in using our Yelp app. For starters we had the beet salad and also a shaved fennel salad which were both fresh, delicious, and beautifully served. I had the seafood paella which was chocked full of seafood, chicken and chorizo. A great balance of flavors. My husband had the shiitake ravioli with mango coconut sauce. He really enjoyed it. My daughter is vegetarian and therefore chose the quinoa and tofu. I was so wrapped up in enjoying my paella that by the time I asked her how her dish was, it was gone! The menu offers a nice variety of vegetarian options which is always nice. She also had the sweet potato fries which the entire table loved. The dipping sauce compliments the fries nicely. Finally, our daughters boyfriend had the fiery hamburger which he really enjoyed. He likes spicy so he was happy. The plate comes with its own sweet potato fries. He said for the price, it was a great value considering what you got...gourmet hamburger using choice beef. For dessert we tried only two. The beignets and flan. The beignets were light and prepared perfectly with salted carmel ice cream. Delish. The flan was ok. Im a flan snob and had better. Service was great! Our waiter offered suggestions and were timely in their service. It was also very nice that the owner, David, came out to our table to introduce himself and greet us. I will definitely go back. Service, food, and value is great! Nice start to our night out in SF to see Book of Mormon which is also a must go see!

Called and made a reservation for a weeknight - no problem! We arrived to the restaurant and almost passed it. At night, it's hard to see they're there. Plus it's in a semi questionable part of town...by that I mean I wouldn't want to walk down the wrong alley because the street lighting is horrible and who knows!? Might I suggest a large restaurant sign perpendicular to the building? That would definitely catch my eye.
The interior is kind of weird, but it's a nice and clean restaurant so kudos to them. I'm not sure what they're going for with the decor because it's kind of all over the place. Maybe you feel like you're on a bad trip when you're there? Not sure. They do have art on their walls that you can purchase and take home with you, which is pretty neat.
Staff is generally pretty nice and knowledgeable of the items on the menu. They're friendly, but boy is the kitchen SLOW. Once we go our order, we devoured it! Sweet potato fries are the bomb.com. MUST ORDER because they're so good! Pigged out on some juicy and delicious burgers. I got the gourmet and my friends got the fire burger and the turkey. Of the three, the GOURMET was the tastiest. The other two were lacking some ingredient I can't put my finger on. Just trust me and order the gourmet.
Anyway, I heard they have beignets and I will have to come back to give them a try! -

Nice little spot and a great menu. Came here for brunch and had a hard time deciding what I wanted to order because everything sounded delicious.
Ended up getting beignets, a Bloody Mary (needed some hair of the dog) and the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. Everything was pretty good, the crab cakes were about half the size of the English Muffins though, so it was hard to get a balanced bite. The breakfast potatoes are cooked with red peppers which I am not a fan of...otherwise I would have requested tater tots or sweet potato fries instead.
My friend also got a Benedict, but only ate part of it because there was a big chunk of eggshell in her food. They were really good about handling it and took the meal off the bill without hesitation.
All in all, it was good...it just wasn't great. -
