Kuletos, Dinner on October 28. Arrived on time, were seated promptly by hostess, Nice ambiance and décor.
New waiter, very nice but timing a bit off. Brought two glasses of wine, forgot to offer bread. When he remembered and brought it to the table, saying it was baked in-house, it was not worth the wait. The Italian bread had the texture and taste of a commercial bake, the focaccia wasn't much better with only a hint of rosemary to distinguish it, the best of the three offerings was the flatbread, crisp and salted. Contrary to what I've read on Yelp (and thankfully) we were not charged for the bread!
My friend had the cappellini (roma tomatoes, basil, garlic, EVOO). The dish had outsized chunks of tomatoes, totally at odds with how the pasta is supposed to match the sauce. There were more tomatoes than pasta to go with them! Thin strands of cappellini are better paired with a much smaller dice of meats or vegetables. Pastas were delivered hot to the table.
The duck pappardelle was ground duck, not shredded. The ragu was fine, but nothing memorable.
The tiramisu was good (according to my friend), but came with a wilted piece of mint on top. We had to ask twice to have the remainder of the dessert boxed to go. -

Food was delicious and wine wasn't too pricey. I had the fish of the day was a salmon prepared just right. For dessert, the tiramisu was very good with chocolate chip sprinkles on top. It's a big slice ($11 per slice)- so we ended up splitting amongst two persons per slice. Overall a great place and I will definitely come back another time. Service was pretty good also.

I grew up in San Francisco, and my parents have been taking me here for as long as I can remember. Now that I live close by, I take my family and friends when they come into town! Excellent wine, pasta, calamari, and the tiramisu is to die for. I like to sit at the bar and get great service from Mike, the bartender who works on weekend days. He always makes for a pleasurable, relaxing and delicious experience. I love Kuletos!

This place has a special vibe that invites to try it and, well, I ate delicious ! I tried the Pappardelle, exquisite duck bolognese style and it's been a while I have not tried a really good pasta, it's really amazing, great flavor I loved it! Also had the tiramisu as dessert and so far it's one of the best I have tried. On top of everything it's very well located in the heart of Powell street, so a very pleasant stroll ended up with a really good dinner. The service was Excellent the waiter was really friendly. I would definitely come back when I am back in SF!

Stopped by for drinks and dessert. The tiramisu was so nasty. It literally fell apart when my friend took a piece because it was so hard. The waitress took it off our bill and mentioned that another customer had complained (that it was a bad batch). In fairness, the chocolate mousse was pretty good.

Such an awesome dinner service here last night. Each dish was prepared to perfection, ambiance was amazing, service was outstanding. We started with their in house prepared charcuterie plate, which was delightful. Then continued with the heirloom carrot salad and the beet salad. The carrot salad was so freaking tasty! Couldn't believe how flavorful it was! Our entrees were duck breast, butternut squash ravioli, and I had the salmon special. Each entree was so flavorful and offered a unique flavor for some classic favorites. We finished with the cannoli and tiramisu. If you're in SF and near Union Square, this is the place to be for a great experience!

Wow! Amazing! Delicious!
My friends and I went to dinner to celebrate our anniversaries and birthdays. We started at the bar for a pre-dinner cocktail. The drinks were very expensive, but the pour was decent. We had a bottle of champagne, so we were charged a $20 corkage fee. We tried a variety of things on the menu. The minestrone soup was excellent. It had lots of flavor and was full or vegetables. The roasted beet salad was also amazing and plated beautifully. The Verde e Rossa was OK. I didn't care for the mix greens. I would have preferred all romaine for my "Caesar" salad. We all decided on the linguine! OMG! Heaven in a BOWL!
For dessert, we enjoyed the tiramisu and chocolate mousse tart with coffee. Both desserts were decadent and delicious!
Our experience would have not been as amazing if we wouldn't have had Ron as a server. He provided outstanding customer service. He was attentive throughout our dining experience. In addition, his sense of humor was much appreciated!
Thank you Ron for the AMAZING customer service. I can't wait to come back! -

Excellent Italian-style restaurant attached to a boutique hotel close by Union Square. Our experiences (two dinners) were great, friendly and prompt service, meals came quickly, nicely presented and very tasty. Recommend the seafood risotto (scallops, white prawns), minestrone soup (a meal by itself almost), and the veal. Also, and especially, the tiramisu which is quite superb (and enormous). Prices are reasonable. It is hard to see how anybody could be disappointed with dinner here.

Waitress forgot our cocktails, had to read from her notes about the menu, appetizers were definitely not the usual portion sizes and more like someone in the kitchen ate part of it. The Seafood Risotto looked like it sat on the counter for awhile. My Lamb Chops and Tiramisu was great.

Joined friends for dinner. Had a reservation (& definitely recommend) so we were immediately seated although we showed up 10 mins early.
Starters were calamari (dipping sauce was great - had a kick and was zesty) and tuna tartare. Tuna was nice with red bell peppers mixed in; garlic toast that accompanied did not have great flavor but was nice.
We stuck to the land with filet, pork tenderloin and veal. The filet was delicious, the risotto that accompanied it was flavorful and the blue cheese tied everything together ( can you tell this was mine)? Veal was excellent but the spinach was good, not great. Pork was so good my friend almost licked his plate. Serving sizes were good.
Wine list was better than good. Sadly we dis not leave room for tiramisu ... But now we have a reason to return. -

My fiancee and I are planning our wedding for next year, and after searching for small venues for a reception, I came across Kuleto's. We both finally had a night off together and decided to make reservations to taste the food and see how the restaurant was. I had heard lots of good things about Kuleto's so I had pretty high expectations.
The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful floors, ceilings, light fixtures, everything is beautiful. We had reservations for 7:15 and we arrived a little early. We went to the lobby on the hotel side to wait until our table was ready. After a few minutes, we decided to go back to the desk and look at the restaurant more, I couldn't stop looking at everything, it's so pretty.
We were seated pretty quickly by the glass window that separates the hotel from the restaurant. After looking over the menu for what seemed like hours, we decided on the bruschetta for an appetizer, and I also got the lemoncello cocktail, both were wonderful. I decided on the filet mignon with risotto, he got the pork tenderloin with polenta. The filet mignon was unbelievable, best I've ever had. I tasted the polenta, it was fantastic. We also got tiramisu, and wow it was incredible.
We even asked if we could take a peek at the private dining rooms, we were able to poke our head in and see one, and it looked like a party had just left. It was also beautiful just like the rest of the restaurant.
The service was fantastic, our waiter was great. The restaurant is a bit loud, and it was funny seeing people through the glass window on the hotel side walking with suitcases. But I ignored that and focused on how beautiful the place was.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we will be able to have our small wedding reception here, it would be great to have the happiest day of my life spent celebrating here :) -

This is my favorite Italian restaurant. Been here several times. Great food, service and location.
I usually order the pasta, risotto, salad. Best tiramisu with chocolate covered espresso beans on top.
Would go back here again. -

Came here for a late dinner after getting into town. Service was mediocre, food was tasty. Would definitely come back just for the tiramisu and maybe to try out other desserts.

The service was elegant and nice, they may be said to be slow but for us it was more paced than slow and very attentive. Yelped in for a check in and received a $5 Cosmo cocktail.
Food was excellent, the downfall was that the entree's (secondi) do not come with any starch's (rice, potatoes, pasta) so it wasn't as filling. So I'd suggest a side order if you have an appetite. The flavor and preparation was excellent. They are famous for the veal scaloppini which was beautiful - just wish it would have come with pasta. They brought us a gratis piece of tiramisu for our nnskspph ncjjvjc nfhfhganniversary - a class act all around!xqzv vbmnm kiwi -

Italian restaurant with great food, service and location.
OVERALL - We go here every time we visit Union Square. It is part of our Christmas/Holiday must do list. The location is perfect. It is part of the SF experience. I usually order the chicken but this time I had a salad & risotto - wonderful! I always have to save room for dessert. Kuleto's has the best tiramisu with chocolate covered espresso beans on top and seasonal crème brulee (just had the pumpkin.)
SERVICE - The service is top notch. I always recognize a handful of the same waiters and bartenders when we go. Everyone is very friendly, knowledgeable and professional.
LOCATION & PARKING - Located in the heart of Union Square, can't get any better than this. Street parking is difficult but street parking in SF is ALWAYS difficult. There are a handful of garages around so parking is not an issue. Personally I love to walk so if you are in a hotel anywhere in the SOMA area, I recommend taking in the sights and culture.
2 CENTS - Always try to make a reservation. The restaurant is usually full. They do have a full service bar area where you can sit and order food as well. I have done this a couple times just to order coffee and tiramisu after a day of shopping.
- I have enjoyed Kuleto's with friend(s), for business, and with my family. Restaurant suitable for all.
2 thumbs up Kuleto's. We will be back! -

I come here every year when I'm in town. It is my 1 must-eat place. I eat the risotto every time. I get a bottle of wine - this time Pinot Noir (Cambria). I get a dessert (this time Tiramisu). Everything is always delicious. The service is amazing. This is home to the world's greatest bread basket. DELICIOSO! The risotto is 10 out of 10. I can't say enough good things about it. Just go here. You won't regret it.

Loved it ! The atmosphere was great, our server Eric was excellent, we were larger party of 7 in a cozy round trouble in the back, felt very comfortable with other patrons close by, it is loud but great atmosphere and walking distance from our hotel !
We shared many deserts and I loved them all from the sugar pie crime brûlée to the tiramisu. I would definitely return ! -

My husband loves this place and has to go there every time we're in SF. The food is always pretty good and their service is great. They earn a 5th star because of their awesome tiramisu that melts in your mouth. I usually don't prefer tiramisu and will spend my calories on other choices, but this was another story. I'd go back just for their tiramisu.

Terrific experience and very good homemade tagliatelle pasta with crab, and lunch special with salmon! Prix fixed worth it, except salad was very simple and lemon dessert was too tart.
Best tiramisu!! -

It was kind of strange that the bar here had dried ham hocks and other various cured meats (probably plastic versions) hanging overhead, but the restaurant was actually very good.
We shared the sardine appetizer--very delicious. The crab tagliatelle was delicious. We also got the daily fish special which was the halibut. It was very good too.
But the best part of the meal was dessert--the tiramisu. It was fabulous. Probably one of the best I have ever tasted!
