Zen Salon & Spa

I have been a Zen customer for over three years (since moving to the area). JoAnn, the owner, is an amazing stylist. On my first visit, I went in with shoulder length hair, and told her I wanted to go short. She took the time to listen to what I wanted, patiently looked at pictures I brought in, and then worked her magic.

She has taken the time over the years to get to know me as a person. We always have great conversations...making me feel like more than just another customer in her chair.

A haircut is a little pricey...but what isn't pricey these days? I'm happy to pay a premium price for a premium cut AND premium service.

I've been going here for years--no matter where I live I continue to come back. Joann, the owner, is fabulous and does an amazing job of balancing what I want with her expertise and experience. She's been doing my mom's hair since college but she is always keeping up with the trends and new styles. Every appointment is worth the wait to get in.

Lindsey is amazing! I first saw her after I had my haircut somewhere else and wasn't happy with the end result. She added some texture and it totally transformed my cut!

I went back to see her a few months later to go from overgrown blonde balayage to lowlights. She did such an amazing job! I was concerned that going darker would enhance the red tones in my hair, but she completely prevented that from happening and achieved the perfect ash brown balayage I was looking for.

There are many simple easy pleasures in life. The first sip of your favorite coffee, birds chirping in spring, a fresh coat of nail polish to keep us looking our best. And for some others it's a fresh haircut/style or a cool new outfit.
The new beautiful outlet you (Lindsey) provided to me gave me back my crown! It was a priceless gift. I was on and off tears leaving and driving in to work (which I made it with 5 minutes to spare ) Some would argue it's just hair...but I feel like it's my crown and you just polished and helped straighten mine for me. I feel absolutely fabulously beautiful!

I have been coming to Zen for years to get my nails done. Jackie is so professional, meticulous and a joy to hang out with for an hour. My nails & hands always look great and I always get compliments.

I got full foil highlights with Ariseli today. I liked that she took the time to understand what I was looking for before starting. All of the stylists were dressed cute for the holidays today and they even had some holiday cookies. The front staff was very friendly and offered beverages when I checked in. I decided to find a new salon because others in the area cost me $200-250. I know the price is dependent on work, hair, foils, etc but this was in the $120-$150 range and took 2 hours. Overall I'm very pleased with both Ariseli and her work and also the salon itself. I'll be coming back here to get my hair done. I added some before and after photos of my roots becoming blended in.

I cannot speak enough about this place! I've been coming here for a few years now, and Lindsey has been my stylist. She is incredible!!! She knows exactly what I want, and how I like my hair. She is so accommodating, and always gets me in last minute when I need it. I am so thankful to have found my person!
The salon is beyond clean, the staff is so friendly. They treat you like you're family, and when you walk in, they know exactly who you are! It's rare to find a place like this, and an owner like Joann! I highly recommend Zen Salon!

Finally went to get a hair cut since having a baby, she's now almost two so if was definitely needed! Jen was great! She fixed my mess that I call hair and was super friendly. I will definitely be returning. It's been forever since I had an actual hair person so I'm super happy that I found a place.

5 stars aren't enough for Lindsey. Not only is she GREAT at coloring and her job, she makes you feel like your family. She's very professional and you can tell she loves her job, loves what she does because she's AMAZING at it and you can tell she cares about you. I feel as though I should make another review just to give her 10 stars. Thanks for your great work and making me feel beautiful... inside and out. I always walk out feeling better about myself thanks to her.

I wasn't unhappy with my old salon, but I saw a sign at MPG Fitness (next door) advertising a free haircut with any color service with Lindsey. I don't know how longer this offer is valid, but it was a GREAT deal. I am so happy with my hair!

As soon as I sat in the chair, Lindsey fluffed her fingers through my hair and quickly said, "okay, I'm going to go mix up some color." I loved that she was so confident and just knew exactly what to mix up. Granted, my highlights are blonde now, and I am naturally dark blonde...it's not that complicated. And Lindsey herself has great hair. Confidence + great hair = great stylist. Don't trust a stylist with bad hair.

My highlights turned out the shade of blonde I wanted. In the past, it always came out a bit too platinum and a bit too monochrome for my liking. Lindsey did a great job, and I didn't even mention my prior concerns.

We talked briefly about my haircut: take off about an inch, trim up the bangs, add some layers. Again, Lindsey nailed it.

In the past, my hair appointments (cut + color) have taken almost three hours. I was shocked to be in and out of Zen in only two hours!

NOTE: You cannot add a tip to your credit or debit card. Tips are cash or check only. There is an ATM in the Nevins Brewing Company, a few doors down. Luckily, I was aware of this before I arrived since I read the Yelp reviews, but I did overhear a client caught by surprise. When inside the salon, the only indication is a 3x5 sign by the cash register.

I can honestly say that Zen Salon & Spa is going to be my primary salon for cut & color. My "old" salon was great, but Zen's prices are ever-so-slightly less and closer to home.
