I loooooove this store. It carries Acne Studios, Filippa K, TomorrowLand and the Want brand (gorgeous smelling items) and incredible bags (pricey at $895 for a tote but if you wait for their Black Friday or Boxing Day sales you can get them for 40% off at another boutique called Stockmarkt near Atwater Market).
They carry a good range of Acne Studios' line and they have the nicest smelling store around.
A lot of their clothing is very trendy minimalist meaning it is all mostly oversized stuff in plain neutrals but exceptionally well made.
They just need to add The Row to their line of designers to make it perfect.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 10, 2015Previous reviewIt's a cute store, I'll give them that. Acne Studio, Filippa K, their own brand of the leather bags (which by the way are super cute but aren't totally practical), with a properly curated, carefully edited selection.
Everything is pretty much black, white or neutral. Don't expect to really find prints or colours in here. The people working here are SO NICE, not at all snobby, very kind and a real treasure trove of things.
The only thing is the pricing. Expect to pay $200 - $600 for any given item of colothing. - Jana T.Westmount, QC95333638Oct 28, 2016
Beautiful boutique in Victoria village with clothes for men and women. They carry a lot of high end lines like Acne studio and Fillipa K. All those minimalist elegant clothes you need for that effortlessly put together look which I never seem to quite manage to pull off... maybe if I had the budget to buy everything here I could, but this is a place for an occasional splurge. Service is great, friendly and unpretentious. They even let me bring my dog in and gave her a treat. They also let you bring in grumpy husbands who don't want to shop and proclaim to salesgirl "I don't need anything..." to which she replied with a smile: "well, the store is called Want, not Need"... touché.

Great shop and incredible service. We stopped in during our holiday with our 2 yr daughter. The staff were really welcoming and even gave her a coloring pad to keep her occupied. Thank you to the woman who 'high fives' and also gave us recos for the neighborhood. :)

Want Apothecary is an okay store. It's got a good selection of high end clothes, accessories and cosmetics. They've got very nice shoes and gloves and bags here. I have quite a few items from this place including my winter gloves (the zipper is two toned gold and silver!) and galoshes, a very nice blue shirt, a pair of stylish and shiny black Oxfords, two wallets and the Trudeau bag. If you find it to be a bit pricey then maybe wait for the annual clearance sale in the spring. The staff are usually pleasant and helpful enough unless you manage to catch them on an off day. Go in peruse and don't feel pressured to buy anything ... this store is dong pretty well for itself. It just expanded next door and will be expanding once again to accommodate the cosmetic department. In any case ... I prefer m0851 because I can be sure of the local and ethical provenance of their offered items.

Going to apothecary WANT is rare boutique shopping, unseen in Montreal before. The store carries a narrow, yet complete, range of swedish brands - Nudie jeans, Filippa K and Acne - for both men and women; and will be the first store to carry the Parisian line Maison Kitsuné in the fall.
Byron and Dexter Peart, the renown designers of the store and of the epuré maison line Les essentiels de la vie WANT, wanted to transplant the community feel of a small village store and the particular design of an old pharmacy they visited in Niagara on the Lake. The prodigy infant of the agency WANT, who is the exclusive distributor of those brands in North America, saw the day this summer in Westmount, on the dynamic stretch of Sherbrooke east of Decarie.
Life essentials really are the focus. In the massive living room tables transformed into display tables are WANT ipad cases, passport pouches, wallets, all made in Italy from the best calfskin.
Some named after your journey's duration, the WANT 24h, 72h bags are functional, disguised laptop bags, unisex and simply beautiful. Not to forget the actual apothecary items neatly put away in big beakers, like the scented candles from Astier de Vilatte and the Aesop line, an Australian company with international clout making the best out of nature and research to create superlative products for skin, hair and body.
Needless to say that Swedish minimalism, Parisian class and custom-made antiques is a winning combination.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Anh V.Irvine, United States23901307129Nov 12, 2012First to Review
modern vintage that only hipsters can curate.
want is filled with beautifully designed goods from high quality swedish items from labels such as nudie or acne. this shop has the word gorgeous-ness defined. from body care items to old fashioned grooming kits, want is a well lit treasure trove. it's what ralph lauren aspires to be.
you'd think the neighborhood would have a snobbish feel but the people who work there are warm and passionate about the products. sure to hit the wallet, want has items you will "want" to have or to treat someone else to a fabulous gift. i love, i love.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Lu G.Montreal, QC32243122Dec 6, 2012
Pricey, chi chi imported clothing/accessory/cosmetics store. Here is where one would go if one has the cash & yen for very expensive imported jeans, shirts, sweaters, bags and costume jewelry, etc. This is also the only place in town that stocks the full Australian skin/haircare line "Aesop". Stock very neatly and accesibly laid out, whole store well lit, staff not snotty or pushy, even the skin/hair care products are easily accessibe for you to test. Have cash will buy.
