Cute restaurant located in the Hilton hotel. Parking can be a little tricky but they have a underground parking. Beautiful and not too busy. We started with the mushroom soup. Pretty good it came in a plant pot. (Tulip) thought that was a really Nice touch.
For the main my partner got the burger and I got the steak frite. The burger was good came with thick fries. My steak came with skinny fries and beans. The fries very good, unfortunately my steak was not a good one. Everything seems to be cartilage.
The staff was super friendly and replaced it with a salad. I got the cesar with salmon. You have the possibility to add steak for $12 or salmon for $15. I added salmon, the salad was good but not $19 good. $15 for the salmon and $19 for the salade. I could not have the bread or croutons that came with it. Maybe that made a difference. I need to mention its a very sweet salad (the dressing or the jam bacon...
I was too full to try the orange crème brûlée. I will have to come back just to try it.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Mike O.Whitchurch-Stouffville, ON22122190Aug 1, 2023
After a long drive to the Hilton hotel from Toronto, my family and I just wanted to eat at the Tulip restaurant in the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely eat here again!
At first I wasn't impressed that the restaurant is only separated from the hotel lobby by a curtain. It can get a bit loud but wasn't too bad. It also has a very lounge-feel to it with darker lighting, low tables, and couches. While this isn't my preference it was still nice.
My server was fantastic! He was friendly and attentive. He was also really good to my younger kids. Working with kids can be difficult but I appreciated the extra attention he gave them.
I've never had Kare Kare before but I tried it and it was really good! The peanut sauce was creamy, and tasty while not overpowering of peanuts (which I was initially afraid of). The chicken was moist and the dish as a whole was so good! While I can't tell you if this was a good Kare Kare, I can tell you that I loved it and would definitely order this again!
Overall, I had a pleasant experience at the Tulip. I've had bad experiences with hotel restaurants in the past but I'm happy to report this was not one of them! I would recommend the Tulip for anyone and not just people staying at the hotel.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 8, 2022
Surprisingly good!
I'll be honest. I didn't have the highest hopes for a meal at a hotel restaurant. I'm happy to say I was pleasantly surprised.
We came here at a weird time (3pm on a Saturday) and were the only people in the restaurant. Waiters were super nice and attentive without being overbearing.
My partner and I each got a burger and both very super good. Fresh ingredients, great flavour and good value.
Would definitely visit again!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Geeta G.Ottawa, ON07Mar 12, 2020
Wow what horrible service! We were a group of 10 with reservations. We got our seats quickly but after that the service went downhill. 8 out of the 10 of us got to order their food at the same time. The 2 of us who arrived a few minutes behind had to flag
down the waitress even though when we sat down with the menu she was still going around asking everyone's orders. Then she brought out glasses and napkins/cutlery for everyone exact 2 of us. She left one small pitcher of water for the whole group and we had to ask for another (no refills).
Then the food came... out of the 10 orders she got nine of them wrong. One of us ordered dressing on the side and never got it; the other ones ordered soup and sandwich and never got a spoon with their soup; the other one ordered a sandwich and salad and got sandwich and soup; 2 out of 10 of us didn't get our food at all; one of us ordered a lemonade and was given a glass of water with a lemon pieces; two of us ordered club soda and got ginger ale. The food was good once it came but there are so many good restaurants in Ottawa that do food and service well. I won't be going back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Robert B.Aylmer, Gatineau, QC0115Feb 8, 2020First to Review
Great hidden gem in Ottawa. The food is incredible, staff is amazing and the dinning experience is the best part. The menu had a wide selections from burgers, sandwiches and daily specials. We had many food restrictions in our group and the restaurant had something for everyone or was easily able to accommodate with any request we had. Chef David truly has a passion for food and truly delivers a great dinning experience. I will be back again and look forward bringing anyone for the first time.
