Who's ready for a terrible, smashing review like a giant smash on the grill for their burger?
I was standing in line for 50 mins waiting for my burger . I am not dining in, did not make any modifications on my burger, nor was it an "off the menu order." It was just your plain Jane, simple weekly special.
If you plan on wasting your time and standing in line for the entire duration of your lunch break, please come here. I have certainly learned that 50 minutes of time is worth way more than any weekly special they put on. No matter how well a burger is cooked, there was absolutely no reason for a wait like this.
I had commented on their Instagram post promoting their weekly special and of course had gotten no reply. To make matters worse, they forgot to salt their burger. It had zero flavour.
Sigh...go downtown, Top Gun Burger is really good at the Kensington Market, not here. I am so sad that this restaurant has made such a bad impression.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 24, 2021
Had lunch their today and there was only 1 person working in the store person who was not very friendly at all as we placed our order.
After that, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and when I came out he told me I could not use the bathroom.
IF THE BATHROOM IS OFF LIMITS, THEN PUT A SIGN SAYING SO!!!!!!
He continued making our order and placed the bags on the table and we left the store.....very unfriendly!!!!!
Do not go to this location!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 15, 2021Updated review
This is from a recent "attempted" order on the weekend. I called up TG to place an order for the weekly special (Avenger Burger combo). The associate taking the order was very curt, to the degree of being extremely rude. After trying to repeat my order 4 times, they hung up on me. With this type of "professionalism", I have decided to never go back and bring my appetite elsewhere...

The burger was nice but not having the dine in option definitely took away part of the funfactor.
The fries... not a big fan of fries but these were definitely heavily loaded with cheese. Just wish there was malt vinegar to go with it to make the flavours pop.
Will see what other incentives come up and try out the other offerings - Lucy C.Montreal, QC113124Mar 30, 2022
I would say the burgers we ordered were tasty. The beef patty was thick and juicy and the crusted cheese was also a bonus.
However there was only 1 person in the store that does both reception and the cooking, and also the price is on the higher end for a burger.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Val L.Markham, ON159108890Aug 23, 2020
My husband came across them on Instagram and it looked REALLY good. I guess that's why they say Instagram vs reality because it definitely was not as huge as it looked on their page.
The actual beef patty itself was small, I think around 3oz - crumbly and broke apart - it was only held together by the cheese. Very messy to eat also I guess because of all the sauces. Taste was good, the chicken went well with it. I liked the bun.
The cheese fries were ok. I like the aioli but all the cheese melted to the bottom so it ended up being a giant glob with all the fries stuck together. I wouldn't recommend it for takeout.
Overall, it's the price that would be the deterring factor, I prefer fresh burger across the street.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Matthew H.Georgina, ON02362Feb 12, 2020
Wow... don't let the definitions fool you. The burgers are even bigger than they sound!
This is a place where you may think you can eat a double burger with the fries... and then it comes to your table.
Meat is fresh. Toppings are awesome. Even the fact that they are using beef bacon adds a different feel.
When you get your burger and you have an oversized almost chopstick-length toothpick keeping it from falling over, this is when you start questioning yourself and trying to figure how you will get it into your mouth without embarrassing yourself. Don't worry. Everyone else is feeling the same. And when you taste the juicy combination, you will definitely not care anymore.
Fries are crispy and light - not the heavy oil-soaked ones that leave you feeling gross.
Try the beef bacon - it is definitely a unique taste if you are used to pork bacon.
The crusted cheese is also a very nice topping for those who are not lactose-intolerant.
Whatever you do, don't plan too much for the afternoon after eating one - you may need to curl up for a nice, contented nap!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - King L.Markham, ON103971Dec 30, 2019
BEEN to several locations of top gun burger.
best location is Definitely KENSINGTON market. this location here in Markham needs to focus on the details & get it together.
small mistakes become BIG mistakes , acceptable & understandable if a restaurant is busy , but UNFORGETTABLE when a restaurant messes up my order, especially ( when the restaurant is not busy ) , which is what happened here in at the Markham top gun location with me
I love top gun burgers & especially steak sandwiches .. but this location overcooked that meat on my ICEMAN steak sandwich so god damn much & slathered SOOOO much cheese over it , not that the cheese was a bad thing " because that is a top gun signature effect " and if it doesnt look like that , they are honestly doing it wrong.. but the meat .. the AAA meat was really overcooked , so even tho it looked like munchies heaven , the reality of this sandwich was rather bittersweet in outcome. visually appealing , but a big let down when it came down to execution & service !!
I know why I come to top gun to eat , even if the price is on the steeper side of things, I come for the quality & I come for the quantity , & I come for the overall visual impact the food gives me.. regardless of price .
service ? The only service they can provide is to cook the customer the perfect meal , because there are no waiters & waitresses , their soul opportunity is to cook you a top notch product with top notch ingredients.
this photo here ( you are looking at a poutine & steak sandwich + drink ) & it comes just close to under 30 dollars , is it worth it ? is it really worth it ?
It can be worth it !! , if the restaurant creates a top notch product for you to enjoy. & This picture looks really well executed in top gun fashion .. BUT the backstory to this ..
This location let me down BIG TIME!!
this location messed up my order, with no one in the restaurant waiting for food , you proceeded to overcook my steak sandwich , and gave me just normal plain french fries ( as if nothing was wrong with it ) , even tho I ordered a poutine & I paid for a poutine , the chef acted as if everything was normal
somehow it feels like someone is smoking too much weed while at work , not being able to read & follow the tickets is a big concern.
I proceeded to tell the chef there is a mistake. it was fixed accordingly , but the damage had been done. small mistakes , become UNFORGETTABLE mistakes
I still rate top gun really high but this location not so much !! 3 stars
bonus 0.5 star , restaurant & washrooms are really clean !!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tim P.Brampton, ON12575Feb 7, 2020
There are a lot of options when it comes to burgers but factors need to be considered: the price, location, the options, and of course the taste.
I'm not a local of Vaughan but Top Gun is a brand I can trust, and can come back without hesitation. The time of the visit was rather late so when I visited the place was pretty quiet. The burger I got was Wildcat. It's a burger that makes you instinctively mutter "now that's a burger " before you devour it like the burger monster that you know you are.
I put 3 stars for two reasons: it "felt" a bit overcooked. I don't really care about burgers since their fat content is relatively high so it comes our juicy but it's another story when it's semi dried. Another reason is because they ran out of ingredients to make the burger I actually came here for. Not the fault of the worker but it's a bummer when you travel all the way over here and be told they can't make it because they dont have the ingredients for it.
The shop in itself can't be commented too much. It's clean, bright, and has all you need. I wish there were more options on drinks...Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brian C.Markham, ON12331Jun 27, 2021
My family ordered four burgers via Uber eats. We ordered the chicken goose, freedom fighter, star fighter, and firefly burgers. When our order was delivered. We only received 3/4 of the burgers. We reported it to Uber eats right away and got a refund without any issues. In terms of the burgers we did receive, they were a decent size (although still not worth the price). The chicken goose burger was probably the best tasting one with well seasoned chicken. The firefly burger was messy to eat and the beef patty was not seasoned whatsoever. The star fighter burger (pictured here) was also not seasoned at all. The beef patty, portobello mushroom, and aioli sauce were incredibly bland. Even the cheddar and mozzarella cheese didn't have much cheese flavour. Overall, because of their carelessness in completing our order and the incredibly bland beef burgers, I will not be ordering from them again.
