What can I say? I just don't like meat markets. If you do and want a guy, you might just like this sports bar. Lots of people do like this place and they are always busy. As soon as you walk in, every head in the place cranks around to see who is at the door. I swear you can hear the gravel in their necks as they crane to see if you are "good pickins". Oh yeah, they have food too. A typical burger joint, good drinks, fun atmosphere -- outside on the patio in the warmer weather. The food is not remarkable.

There aren't too many good things to say about The Diamond, except how it looks. I grew up in Glastonbury but have lived in Los Angeles, Boston, and San Francisco from my late 20's on. I come back to visit friends and family and have always ended up there to catch up with everyone. I can honestly say I will never go there again. Here is why...
1) Terrible service by the bartenders & wait staff. It's almost like you are doing them a favor by ordering from them. Coupled with total "attitude" when they finally get to you.
2) The music they play is terrible. On a Fri & Sat night expect the music to be as loud and distorted as it can go...
3) The food is mediocre at best and never consistent with the temperature and presentation when brought to you.
All in all if you ever make it into GBury go to the chains like Houlihan's or the Ninety-Nine to watch sports and have some good pub type food, you will be better off. If someone opened a real sports bar in this town....they would do alright, and please put this place out of it's misery.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sara Tiffany L.Carmel, United States33517244Jul 11, 2007
The food sucks, there are too many dirty old men, and the drinks are nothing to write home about. However, the sports bar atmosphere and outdoor seating makes it redeemable... that and one of the dirty old men that hangs out there is my father...

yup, 4 stars, im a fan, well im forced to be one, but i go willingly, sort of.
sort this jaun is in the heart of central ct, you even been? i make this reference to my brother and sisteren of boston, not those who obv live near this place. if you live near here, go, its fun, sporty and all around a good place to meet and stuff. boat loads of tv, plasmas and the like, no pinball so no five stars from me, but the staff is nice, the clientele is decent and you get the sox/yankee rivalry right down the middle of this place.(sox take it btw!)
food is pub fare, even one step better. fries have that starchy coating that you tummy doesnt need but yet craves, like attention with me. sliders are pretty tasty and the nachos are wifeys fav. dozens of brews on tap, as well as a number in bottles and a fine selection of spirits. it seems everytime we go to visit the in-rents we escape here at night to meet up with the bff's. hey ct is lame but i guess this makes the pain seep away sort of.....Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Evan G.New York, United States4533235Dec 21, 2008
I have been to The Diamond about 10 times, normally in a big group, and they have always been very helpful. After once or twice we learned that if we warn them ahead of time, there is a back patio out the side door by the kitchen that will hold about 15 people, and if we call ahead they would reserve it just for us.
Their wings are the best I have had around. Normally we get a big plate of 50, and unlike hooters, we can split them up however we want. It gives us the good variety we want, but helps keep out price down.
After having a bunch of wings, I am normally not hungry for a full meal, so they have never told me no to ordering off the kids menu. Something feels weird about ordering a beer and a kids order of sliders, but its definitely worth it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Megan M.Boston, United States505213Sep 9, 2009
Absolute perfect place to bring a group of friends to watch a game on tv and enjoy some beers. The service is great and very accomodating. The food is good and the area is a very open floor plan with more tv's than you'll be able to count. In the summer months outdoor seating is available as well. For a Red Sox/yankees game or UConn bball this is by far the best place in town to catch the game!

I'm feeling generous with 2 stars.
Honestly I'm not sure why this place even bothers with food since everything tastes like it's been frozen for months before it's warmed up for order time. You want a beer & to watch the game? Fine. You want food that actually has some flavor and doesn't look like it's going bad? This may not be your place.
What keeps this place in business is the dirty old men who still frequent here to watch sports and drink beer, 'cuz the food ain't good. My 12 year old could make a better meal, and she's hardly capable of making Kraft dinner alone.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Megan R.Rocky Hill, United States71149243Oct 10, 2010
One of my favorite spots in Glastonbury, for a certain type of lunch. This is where I go when I work a double, and need to have a bite to eat and a beer in under an hour.
There is a big huge bar, and outdoor seating, which is a plus. The menu is basic bar food, nothing spectacular, but a nice selection and they always offer specials.
I'll have the philly cheesesteak sandwich and a Newcastle, in and out in under an hour, and for under $20. Not bad in Glastonbury.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dianne D.Glastonbury, United States02Jan 13, 2011
I actually like the food here..but the service is ATROCIOUS. Will never eat at the restaurant again..will just get takeout.
The wait staff is unfriendly, unattentive and rude. Seriously, the worst service experiences I have ever had.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Adrian W.South Glastonbury, United States220292102Feb 1, 2011
Not a gourmet place by any strech of the imagination, but for bar food it's OK. I like the wings a lot, they are big and meaty.
Interesting tid bit, they occassionally offer 1/2 off gift certificates from 106.9 FM (WCCC).
I can't comment on the alcoholic drinks, as both times I've visited I've been pregnant and haven't tried any of them.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
