Q:
Are the nigiri slices the correct rice to fish ratio like how japan does it or is the super large cuts of fish?
A:
I am not sure if they are correct rice to fish ratio. Some days the slices are larger than others.

I came back with some company to try some new rolls! This time around, we got the Rebekah roll, Salmon Skin Roll, Salmon Lover Roll, and the Cherry Blossom Roll. Miso soup and edamame are on the house.
Salmon Lovers Roll: Delicious as always. Salmon on the inside and the outside. Yum!
Rebekah Roll: Not too bad. Unagi on the outside, soft shelled crab and scallop on the inside.
Salmon Skin Roll: Crispy, crunchy, and fried salmon skin with cucumber on the inside. I love this. It's only $6.
Cherry Blossom Roll: Extremely fresh tuna on top and salmon on the inside. It's the perfect combination of textures.
All the rolls range from $12-15. If you get bar seating, you can even kind of watch them make it. The restaurant is also super tiny, so expect a wait during hot hours!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 10, 2017Previous reviewYou know the sushi is good when it's located in a random strip mall and it's STILL packed with people. TGI's is a really small place with about a total of 9 tables. If you come during lunch hour, you're asking for a wait.
I always order the salmon lover and salmon skin roll. They're both so good and fresh. Each meal comes with complimentary edamame and miso soup - the cherry on top of a great meal. Who doesn't like free food? I have also tried their nigiri lunch special. It came with a variety of 10 nigiris for $20. The fish was also extremely fresh, but I wouldn't order a whole order to myself. It's too much slimy/slippery food for my taste.
Overall, I love TGI's. I've been back several times. The food is affordable and delicious! - Lj C.San Jose, United States1041812Feb 29, 2020
I don't know what changed, but the service here seems to degrade more and more I come here.
Went in today to order something to go and had me wait outside the store! There were available seats everywhere so I got confused as hell.
Waited 30 minutes for a freakin bento box and when it finally came in, it wasn't even the right configuration.
Even as I left, there was no appreciation. Usually the staff says "thank you" or "have a great day", but nada; as if me ordering something to go was a burden for them. This sucks as it wasn't even busy and I just really found that super rude.
The food here is good, but if this doesn't change soon, you guys are bound to lose loyal customers
I really like this place and I hope this kind of treatment changes soon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Caitlin A.Fremont, United States94157280May 20, 2017
Came in for a sushi fix on my way home from work yesterday. I used their bathroom when I first arrived (Has a note for no paper into the toilet please, flashback to visiting Mexico). When I came out there was a menu, miso soup and a glass of water waiting for me (thumbs up). It took me a while to decide on what I wanted but after I did the waitress took a little while to notice.
I ordered 3 rolls and a beer. She brought me my beer and a bowl of edemame right away and my rolls were ready quickly (handed to me over the bar by the 2 chefs).
The rolls I ordered were just average. The service was a mix of great and disappointing. There were a couple of flies around, the floor was sort of slippery and sticky (weird wax maybe?) and the door was left open even though it was quite hot.
Overall not horrible but definitely would rather wait to get back to Fremont and go to Little mad fish (still my go to for sushi).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Flor P.San Jose, United States802514Mar 26, 2021Updated review

They have moved to 1759 Technology Dr, suite 30, San Jose. They also have a new phone number. It is (408) 392-0087. The quality is still the same as the Campbell location. I really enjoyed my meal tonight.

TGI's is usually pretty solid. Flavorful rolls that aren't over sauced, USUALLY the fish is acceptable. NOT this time.
We ordered to-go lunch for the office from TGI's for maybe the 8th time now, and everything was very bad this time. The fish had greyish undertones, there was no flavor, the rice had no seasoning, the chicken katsu was hard and stale, and quite a few people complained that the beef teriyaki was like jerky.
When we have sushi at work, typically people go back for seconds or thirds. I mean who wouldn't for free sushi? Not this time. That's how bad the food was...
Worst of all, at least 6 people got food poisoning that night or the next day. Everyone ate different things after that sushi lunch, so guess what the common denominator was? GREY ASS SASHIMI! Never again, TGI. Especially when Mizu is also nearby.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Wendy N.Saratoga, United States81223134Dec 20, 2020
Found our new favorite sushi restaurant! We have had several favorites in the area over the years but this one beats then all. The portion sizes of the sushi are substantial especially for the price. All the sushi was so fresh and delicious! Can't wait to come back and try more!!!

Cheap sushi, especially for the Bay Area. But because it's cheap, the sushi isn't very refined. I'm not complaining though - it's still good and does it's job.
Also - their Bento Boxes come with a lot of food, but beware - it's a bunch of deep fried sides. The actual entree is TINY.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
