I hesitated between giving 3 or 4 stars, but decided to give it a lower score.
The choice of the footwear is great, and the price point is pleasant. I made a purchase and in general the sales people were nice. However, despite of the niceness of the personnel the customer service sucks!
Here is why. I almost left without making a purchase, and I bought something only by a lucky (for the store owner) chance.
I came in the store, and a nice girl greeted me. I looked around and noticed that the shelves in the back had some pieces of paper attached to them. The numbers hand written on the paper suggested that the racks had shoes on sale, so I headed right there. However, these were mostly the summer shoes I was not interested in, so I turned to the girl and asked her: "Do you have any other Jeffrey Campbell's on sale?" Gosh, was it a simple question to answer. However, instead of answering it, the girl mumbled something incomprehensible and turned away. O-o-ok, you do not want to help me... I wandered about a bit more, failed to find anything exciting and headed toward the door.
Then I saw a bootie standing on the shelf next to the door, and it had a white label attached to the heel. On the label there were two prices, and both looked appealing. I asked the girl which price was valid. She did not know and went to ask the cashier guy. Turned out the booties were on sale for $90. Nice! I ended up buying them. While taking my payment, the cashier guy thanked me multiple times for the purchase - and so did the girl. Their excessive thankfulness made me think that the store business was not going well.
I grabbed the box and headed towards the exit. While getting out, I accidentally looked up and saw a familiar looking piece of paper attached to the top shelf next to the door, right above the spot where my new booties were standing. It was written $90 on it... The door closed behind me, and at that moment I realized that whole shelf was also on sale. The whole shelf was on sale, and I learned it on my own only after leaving the store! Aggrh!
This is a good example for you guys how to fail your retail business.
Do not make the sales signs visible and clear.
Asked the sales person to never ever mention the sale.
And of course instruct them to turn away when a customer asks a question.
This will make you succeed in reducing the numbers of sales and eventually filing a bankruptcy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Hadeer E.WHITESTONE, United States34014Dec 8, 2015
Fair warning: they will straight up lie to you.
I purchased a very expensive pair of boots from a young, fast-talking, green-eyed salesman, who assured me several times that I could return the boots if I wasn't happy with them. I was uncertain about the boots, so I even made sure to ask multiple times if I could return them, and he assured me as long as they were unworn, and I had the box and receipt, I could return them. I was dubious, as he stretched them for me, but I thought, hey, salesman are fast-talking and play with words, but they can't straight-up lie to you about store policy, right?
Turns out I was wrong. He had no problem lying to my face. When I went back to the store he wasn't there, but the manager was, and he insisted store policy is only exchange, no refunds. I explained what I had been told, but to no avail. They tried to stretch them for me more so they could fit well, but they are still a strange, awkward fit, and that's now $150 down the drain, because I won't be wearing them.
Honestly, I don't often shop at Manhattan boutiques, and I probably shouldn't, because maybe this is just what employees can do? I mean, it's not like they are a department store with accountability; they can lie with impunity, because who are you gonna complain to?
And if all that weren't bad enough, the damn things RIPPED like an hour after I wore them.
This whole thing has been awful. I would seriously advise against shopping here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mariana P.Manhattan, United States4126Aug 20, 2016

I don't know about you, but when I get excited about shoes, I start singing (usually silently). The lyrics mainly consist of "shoes" on repeat, but I like to play with the melody. Anyway, when I walk into the Strut Of NY shoe store, that song turns into a freaking Opera- complete with fabulous backup choreography and flashing lights. It never fails- I walk in here and I swoon. They have every color of shoe you can imagine, for every mood you can experience. The employees are nice and extremely helpful. I worship shamelessly at the Altar Of The High Heel. They're bad for your feet, but shut up - they're HOT! I can't wear them every day (woe is me!), but I can keep them in the Archives to bust out when necessary. Gorgeous, gorgeous shoes And I ALWAYS get compliments on what I find here.

WARNING!!!!! DON'T SHOP HERE! HORRIBLE DISRESPECTFUL SERVICE!
I have shopped here a few times before and had no problem but today was the last time I ever step foot here. As soon as I walk in a shorter man who claimed to be the owner KEEP HAGGLING me over over shoe I looked at or picked up. It was to the point it was harrassing. Like how desperate are you for a sale? Can you just let me look in peace?? It came to the point where I said to him "Can you just let me look please? Just give me a second, if I need help I'll ask you." He then kept saying "Oh I'm just trynna help you out, you dont want it? I know what your going to do, your just going to look and not buy." I was shocked! And told him "Don't ever talk to me like that? Is that how you treat young black women that come into your store? I'm literally just asking you to give me a second to look, that's all." He's all like dont give me a hard time etc. And took the boot out of my hand. I said, "Is there a reason you're taking this shoe out my hand??" And he's like, "oh, oh here you go, my mistake" And gave it back. Are you serious??? He was just very chauvinistic, and incredibly disrespectful. He refused to give me his name or his card. He was short, man seemingly of Middle Eastern or Arab decent, thinning, comb over hair, and a dark colored leather jacket. If you see him, don't waste your money. I've never in my life been treated that way and no one else should experience that either. I'm looking into the BBB and escalating this to the highest i can for how they treated me. Don't shop here!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elizabeth C.Brooklyn, United States093Feb 12, 2015
Awful! There are so many fantastic and well priced shoe stores in the city, and this store is definitely not one of them. Their selection is OK, and while they do offer shoes from a variety of legit labels, there's something kind of meh about the selection. I've stopped in here several times without buying anything because nothing really stands out, besides the cheap prices that is. I bought a pair of boots recently since the manager cut the price in half, but then I decided to return them as I didn't really like the fit. I knew they only offered store credit--fine. When I brought them back, the manager legitimately looked pissed at me for having to give store credit. When I came back to use the credit, I asked the same manager (I think he is anyway) for a pair of shoes in 2 sizes. While he was initially very nice, he became irritated quickly with my request for 2 sizes of the same shoe and asked me to show him the store credit. I felt like he was accusing me of stealing or something--why would you need to see it? Do you think I have a fake store credit? Weird, but I showed it to him and he angrily left to get my shoes. While I was trying them on, I heard the manager say some really offensive things to 2 other ladies in the store, basically he told them that he wanted them to leave because they only bought 1 pair of shoes and were still trying stuff on. I guess some people don't like money... I used up the whole store credit right there because I told myself I would never come back here again! Horrible customer service from employees who make you feel like you're a burden for shopping there. Sorry, not worth the discount.

Buyer beware!!!! Needed a pair of rain boots and stopped in Struts. The owner was very nice and helped me find a great pair. They were on sale for $30.00. Bought them and wore them out into the pouring rain. Thought I felt some wet in the boots but because it was cold, I thought that was what I was feeling. Got home later and removed the boots and discovered that my socks were wet. I called the store and the woman who answered the phone said she was sorry they leaked and I could return them. The next day I went back to the store and the owner refused to take the boots back since they were worn. I explained about my phone call and he didn't care. He no longer was the smiling nice man that sold me the leaky boots. He was now extremely rude. He said the boots were worn, they were a good price and if he tried to sell them to another person it would ruin his reputation. He kept saying I got a good price on the boots. My question is........why would you knowingly put a pair of leaky rain boots on the shelf? And if I only paid $1.00 for them, it is still not a good deal if the leak. What ruins one's reputation is refusing to graciously take back damaged goods. Had he practiced good customer service I would have gladly purchased something else from him. So I will never again buy any shoes at his store nor will any of my friends. Good customer service is dead at Struts of New York.

Descent shoes, good bargaining and great customer service! I used to shop at this place all the time when I worked in the area and I'd had many good experiences. Having moved job sites it was a over a year when I stepped foot back in there four days ago. And yet again I had a good experience! The owner was persistent but knew his product well. The salesman was pleasant and knowledgeable as well. My friend, who had never been there, and I shared lots of laughs and did a little bargaining too (the owner is very big on bargaining). I miss places like this where prices can be negotiated. Let's face it, shoes are often over priced and sold based on the name of the designer. I'm ok with buying a pair of look-a-likes for a cheaper price, even if the quality isn't as good. You get what you paid for and I bought two pairs of very cute flats that are mostly patent leather (or plastic) but worth an 8-hour wear for a low price! My feet are still in good condition and I walked away with a great experience. Of course I'll be back! I'm a sucker for cute shoes and good customer service!
