Although their bagels looked delicious, I couldn't resist their almond "Craigel" (a croissant bagel that actually is just a round croissant). Filled with an almond paste like filling, it was so intensely almondy, that it will live in my memory as one of the best I've had.
We also got the chocolate hazelnut Nutella one which didn't have as much Nutella/hazelnut flavor.
So go for the almond, and maybe also a bagel!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 31, 2023
Another place in St Lawrence Market that was highly recommended is St Urbain for their Montreal style bagels. Like Anthony Bourdain said, you can't compare NY style and Montreal style bagels. They are like comparing apples to oranges.
I had an everything bagel w/ lox. You can choose your toppings, but I chose the traditional plain cream cheese, tomatoes, red onion and capers.
The combo was very good. The bagel had a nice chew, but was slightly sweet bc of the boiling in honey water. The only downsides were I was expecting more lox, and the top of the bagel to be completely covered w/ "everything".
There was a long line and it took a while to fill the order based on the number of workers. Nonetheless, the staff was friendly & warm.
I would definitely return to try other bagel combinations. Montreal bagels are very good, and a nice contrast to what we eat in the US.Helpful 12Thanks 1Love this 13Oh no 0 - 1019311519Apr 1, 2023
Montreal bagels or New York bagels?? I really am not sure now! I've never had a montreal style bagel before this day, and I will say I am genuinely so impressed. To be honest, I didn't expect much from it since even most of the NY bagels I've tried have been quite underwhelming. So, when I heard that these were supposed to be denser but sweeter versions of those I wasn't too overly excited. However, I am so happy to say that my expectations were far exceeded.
Located inside St. Lawrence market, there was already a line of people outside the section either ordering or waiting to pick up their bagels. I decided to get the egg salad + veggies on an onion bagel. I really appreciated how they let you add veggies since most spots don't do that! The bagel came out relatively quickly and was packed with delicious egg salad and the variety of veggies. The standout was definitely the bagel itself though; the texture was perfect! Chewy in the middle with a hint of sweetness that made it so delicious. The onion bits on the outside were also delicious and overall it made for such a good sandwich.
I am already missing this bagel so much. Being from the US I now need to find a spot that makes something similar!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - 2365861821Jun 23, 2023

These Montreal style bagels are right in St. Lawrence's market. We got the everything bagel with lox. The bagel also came with tomatoes and cucumbers, as well as onions and capers. It was a very well balanced and refreshing breakfast sandwich. I love that it was toasted nicely, but the fresh and crispiness of the vegetables balanced out the creaminess of the lox. we got our food pretty quickly and didn't have to wait too long!

Seems to be a consistent spot in the back of the market. We found the market overwhelming with choices but we just needed a small snack and figured this was a good choice. Well for the most part, the bagels looked small.. and they were but the tuna salad was delish. The weird part was that the credit card machine broke after I took it out.. this young guy wouldn't give us our 1 bagel until he shut it off and back on again to check if the purchase went through.. the line was piling up...it was annoying to hold us hostage over $8.. the charge did go through for anyone wondering.

Pro-tip: If you like a chewy bagel with a crispy shell, this isn't the bagel for you. Instead, try their other baked goods.
Highlights: The star was definitely the chocolate Nutella croissant because it had good lamination giving it a crispy outer and chewy inner.
Lowlights: There was quite a long line so I think it really raised my expectations, but the bagel really fell short. The bagel itself was dense and not fluffy or chewy which is the type of bagel I enjoy. The mini cinnamon roll is also nothing to write home about.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 2, 2023
I love Montreal bagels (and I'm from NYC so it's hard to get that style at home) - to pint where every time we are in Montreal, we head straight for St. Viateur to grab a dozen for when we are there - and then head to the airport with a suitcase full of bagels in freezer bags. The bagels here are solid - they don't quite have the same shell as St. Viatuer or Fairmount but it will satisfy a craving. Prices are very reasonable at $1.25 a bagel and $12.50 for a dozen. Worth a stop if you are at St. Lawrence!

Fantastic Bagels. if you go early, they are still making them, you can watch them take them out of the oven on those long paddle like boards, just like they did 70 years ago i'm sure. As a bonus for going early is that they are absolutely unreal when they are warm out of that incredible wood oven. there are few things better than fresh baked bagels or bread. I love that the bagels are not huge and bread like, like most of the bagels in this city, they are light, with just the perfect density and are so flavorful that, they are perfect with just butter. these are proper, true bagels, best in the city.

These bagels are perfection!! They have the perfect texture (a little crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside) and just the right amount of (really yummy) cream cheese. I personally preferred the cinnamon raisin bagel to the everything bagel. Excited to try more of their sweet flavor bagels in the future.
