Went in spontaneously with two other friends. Looked like a mom-pop shop with an overwhelming amount of menu options.
We ordered 3 dishes, ate it family style and it was more than enough. Rice noodles with So good sauce has an unexpected but delightful peanut flavour. Malaysian rice was a favourite. We also ordered a vegetable dish, which consisted of baby corn, mushrooms, carrots etc.
The food was surprisingly good and the staff are friendly and attentive. No pictures because we were starving and could not stop eating. I will be returning to try some of the vegetarian options.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Paul M.Ottawa, ON02337Jan 5, 2023
Went in for a lunch special and selected "Beef in Black Bean sauce with rice, and a Spring Roll". Spring Roll was cooked in fresh oil - good job there. Main meal appeared healthy with vegetables, however, the beef was of a reduced quality leaving the meal less than super tasty. It was editable, but not again.
On a side, the dinning area was fairly clean, however the washroom has a long way to go. This leads me to question the kitchen?!
Customer service was nil! Not once was I asked if I was happy or needed anything. I was immediately passed the bill when I finished, then after a few minutes a server ran to me with the portable payment machine. It was as if they deemed it was my time to leave. I certainly wasn't permitted to relax after their food.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 15, 2021
Decent Chinese food with an expansive vegetarian menu. I visited for lunch on a Sunday, and it was pretty much dead. Huge menu, with lots of vegetarian items, including combination items. I ordered the veggie combo that comes with kung pao tofu, fried rice (no egg), and chop suey, and a choice of appetize (I did the veggie hot & sour soup).
The soup was very peppery and only slightly tangy, not really imparting much depth or complexity. Tasty enough but one of the less impressive hot & sour soups I've had of late. 2.5/5
The combo plate was a mixed bug. The kung pao tofu was decent, but incredibly salty -- lots of soy sauce in the sauce. The tofu was deep fried tofu, and cooked with green pepper, onion, mushroom, carrot, water chestnut, and peanuts -- it was a little too richly salty, but tasty enough with the rice. The fried rice was decent -- not the most flavourful or inventive fried rice, but more soy sauce heavy. The chop suey was pretty lame -- I'd expect mixed veggies in a chop suey, but this was largely bean sprouts with a few other things. 2.5/5 overall.
Decent, quick service. The combo was $12.95 + 1 (weekend surcharge), plus tax, so about $16 after tax. Not the best place, but good for veggie options.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Yum+Yummer M.Renfrew, ON23919May 29, 2023
Tiny little restaurant that you can barely tell is there from the street, but great food and fast service. Wu Se Chicken, mini egg rolls, pepper and salt tofu and bacon fried rice are my favourites!

I am spoiled living in Toronto in terms of exceptional Chinese cuisine. My expectations are high. The owners of this place are nice, especially the chef who is from Taiwan, one of my favourite places in the world. The owners/chefs all engage with their customers - I love that! I really did not have the experience others had with the owners/staff, I must be honest.
Hot and sour soup - 2.5/5 (needed more white pepper and did not have the usual zing which we enjoy).
Singapore noodles - 4.5/5 - probably one of the best we have had in a long time. Generous curry flavour, not weak and huge and generous amounts of chicken. Not a drop of grease which is always a good thing. The noodles were really quite amazing actually.
Reason I am grading this a 2.5 star is that the cups in which the water was served had a funky smell (seriously off-putting while eating and taking a sip of water from the glass), and the hot and sour was honestly quite bland. All I remember is the funky smell on the water glasses.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Judy M M.Ottawa, ON04Mar 20, 2022
Food was not hot and not well prepared. Lacked seasoning. Corn soup was horrible. Brought most of it home and made a good chicken stir-fry with it though.

Not so good!
Food: varied from horrible to passable.
- The eggroll was decent- the filling was tasty, but it was very oily and greasy.
- The General Tao chicken was different and unique, but it had an overwhelming taste of vinegar.
- The hot and sour soup was the worst i ever had, and I order hot & sour at every restaurant that has it. I couldn't get more than 3 spoonfuls in my mouth before giving up.
- Wu Se Chicken was the only passable dish. Very salty though.
Decor: your standard low budget restaurant. Despite double doors, it was cold, had to keep my jacket on.
The beer was the best part.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ashe F.Nepean, Ottawa, ON1511Jan 21, 2018
We ordered the Peking Duck, and oh man... I recommend that you give it a try. The food was amazing and it was quick. Other than Golden Palace, I think these guys do amazing Egg Rolls. They definitely live up to their name, they're so good!

Love the Wu-Se Chicken!!! Yes, it's sweet, but, it's just amazing! Plus, the waitresses never laugh at my Mandarin.
