Second Cup

Visited one late evening. It was decorated for the holidays. I haven't been to second cup in awhile. There was so much to choose from, nutty flavours, matcha, smoothies, cake and bagels etc. Ended up going with a classic hot chocolate, it wasn't severed in a mug. I sat and enjoyed the warm ambiance. Though they were short staffed and it took some time I didn't mind it. The service was friendly!

Service was good but unfortunately the frappe was not! I was disappointed. I had 2 sips and had to throw the rest of it. Flavorless and bland.

Paid around $5.

Be aware this location does not serve coffee in glass cups if you are eating in. For me, drinking from a glass cup is why I would eat in.

Ah Second Cup. The Canadian classic coffee joint that all us Canadians want to love. Why do we do this to ourselves? We open up franchises but fail to run them right. This chain has drowned in the sea of Starbucks' tsunami wave of coffee brilliance. This location in particular reminds you of why they continue to fail their Canadian audience. Dirty floors, run down equipment, smeared dirty signs for their brewed coffee and best of all, don't visit their restrooms. One of the worst bathroom cleanliness ratings I have ever seen. Drinks are still decent; this particular Second Cup has added some houseplants and fake plant decor to help cozy up the place. It's all very superficial though. Hygiene is primary and until the management of this location understands that, they will be avoided by those who would rather opt for a more prime experience; at Starbucks!

Take Out 2: Continuing with helping struggling local restaurants, we chose a Second Cup for our next venture. It is truly different nowadays - Our new reality. Except for Tim Hortons via their drive through, a lot of the designer coffee shops are closed if no drive through is offered.

All of them no longer have dining available either order using their app or on site or go through their drive through.

We walked in to experience Second Cup since we don't go here too often. It was easier for us to browse through their menu without feeling pressured from a car waiting for their order behind you.

It was a bit different seeing the place not occupied however our coffee barista was Soo helpful and was very welcoming.

We made small talk regarding how the virus was affecting both our lives and the stores. For this Second Cup they have been fortunate because they are able to stay open but a lot of it's employees have been laid off understandably.

I got a white chocolate whipped cream drink and a lemon twist green tea for my lady. We took some almond cookies to go before we waited in a line outside the Asian grocery store T&T nearby.

The experience was great! Fast service and we had a good conversation to boot. I noticed after we paid that she quickly disinfected the credit/debit card reader.

Due to COVID-19 there are people who go to extremes and disinfect their coffee even in drive throughs. See my pic!

For us though, we wore non powdered latex gloves to grab our drinks and wore a surgical masks throughout this day.

Second Cup always makes me happy. Perhaps it's because someone is serving me coffee, perhaps it's because it's filled with highschool nostalgia. Mostly I think it's because I really enjoy their drinks!

Favorites: latte, mocha, iced coffee - all of these options are wonderfully prepared and full of flavour!

This location is a little out of they way for me, but always makes a nice break when I'm in the area.

I'm all about supporting local business. This was my first time at that location, and I have to say I'm very disappointed! Not friendly at all. They were very busy, 2 ladies serving a large crowd, I get it, it's overwhelming, but no reason to roll your eyes and say I wasn't talking to you when I was confirming my order. They didn't even acknowledge the fact that I was waiting for a while! But to be rude about me confirming my order is uncalled for!
Hopefully this review will make a difference with the service
Having said that, the quality of the product is consistent with other locations

Drive-thru was quick and order was accurate. Caramel Corretto is always tasty!
