So typical people complaining how small the parking spaces are. Just be happy they added a location close by instead of going all the way to the East Bay.
Anyway this place is awesome! Unlike Chinese owned Pacific Super market and Manila Oriental supermarket, Seafood City is clean and carries anything you could possibly want from the Philipoines. While you shop you could hear old Filipino music from back in the days. There's also Grill City restaurant inside market that serve Isaw (Philippine street food) on weekends! There's also Chowking restaurant currently being built next door. The staff here are helpful and friendly. If you sign up for their SUKI club card, you can accumulate points and receive free gifts like rice or coconut juice. Definitely be coming back...Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - BAMBI A.San Mateo, United States153115Mar 30, 2024
The food court is crazy like a jungle!!! We only went here for halo halo they used to have separate booth for that and now you have to fall in line at Grill City which is always long just to pay and get it. They are so greedy on space and money they have to take it out and have another renter for that (TEA World) . They should have a better way for customers just want to order halo halo just like before. And we have to wait additional 10 minutes to make it 20 min to fall in line.

First time eating in the food court inside Seafood City, and this will be my last. My family's been buying food from Grill City & Crispytown, which the foods are not bad. Typical filipino food, but the service of the majority of the workers here are very rude and impatient. There's always almost a line here everytime I come, and everytime they assist me, they're always very unhappy and stressed at their job. Even the people who works at the actual "market" side of it, they're gossiping about each other outloud. Such a bad representation of how "Filipinos" are. It doesn't matter how old they are, if they're choosing to work at a place where hoards of people are expected everyday, then they need to learn good customer service.

Seafood City, one of the many Asian supermarkets in the San Bruno/SSF/Daly City area. Have a snack or a meal from Red Ribbon Bakery, Jollibee's, Valerio's, Grill City, or Crispy Town before you get your groceries. You know that saying, "Never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach."
Not as large as some of the other Asian markets nearby, but the people who work there are friendly and helpful.
*Shout out to Ken! A self proclaimed noodle guy who helped me pick out a bunch of different instant noodle packs for my very first instant noodle review. I had just binge watched too many "Strictly Dumpling" vids on YouTube. Don't judge me.
Ken was stocking noodles, I looked confused looking at noodles. It was meant to be.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jr D.San Francisco, United States1084360Oct 7, 2021
I love coming here to the food court. Grill city has great options but my favorites are the silogs. Normally I'll get the chicken silog and it's always delicious and great prices. Afterwards I drop by the crispy town for fried chicken skins to take home. They have other delicious foods in the food court too. You'll have to see yourself. Too many to name. You won't be disappointed.

Hella Pinoy!
The first time I've ever heard of Seafood City was in San Diego probably over 10 years ago. That location was in National City (AKA Nasty City) and it was huge, roomy, clean and hella nice. Forgive me for using the NorCal slang referring to SoCal, but that will be the theme here. My first experience with this Filipino supermarket chain store was a pleasant one, same was my second in Sacramento and third in Vallejo.
So when I found out that they were opening one up in South City, the wifey got hella excited and dragged my ass here as soon as she could. This is the same strip mall where a now defunct Asian supermarket store that nobody went to once existed. Now it appears that the Pinoys have taken over and are about to open up other Filipino-based businesses in this same tiny strip mall. Not sure if that was a good idea for this location since there is hardly any parking spot. You're gonna have to "fight" for a parking spot and expect your nerves to get tested with people who can't seem to park in their own lane. I suggest if you see a space on a side street, take it as it will be faster than waiting inside the lot.
Once you get inside the store, the layout just doesn't make sense as there are two entrances that leads you to the produce section. Usually, a typical layout of any supermarket has the check-out stands in front, but this one is in the middle. Needles to say, it's not a smooth transition and you can get stuck in a gridlock of shopping carts in the produce section and patrons coming out from the check-out stand. It's hella annoying and whoever designed this store's layout should receive a failing grade.
One the left side of the store is the food court and their own fast food Pinoy joints Grill City and Crispy Town. In the back are the meat and seafood sections and the center consists of several aisles of assorted products from the Philippines. And like the the capital of Manila, this place is hella crowded and the aisles are super narrow.
What makes it even worse is they pack their aisles with more products on the sides and even in the center aisles by the refrigerated section and getting around this clusterf*ck is like being stuck in a Manila traffic during rush hour. Again, whoever designed this store must have based their measurements on a typical Filipino person, which is usually short. News Flash, this ain't the pucking Philippines.
And most of all, Filipinos are usually known for their warm hospitality as recently featured on Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown, but the people working here lacks even the basics of hospitality skills to non-existent at all. Where the heck did they get their pool of employees from? Did they even get proper training when dealing and engaging with patrons?
What da puck!
Hella annoyed!Helpful 14Thanks 0Love this 18Oh no 0 - Jul 29, 2016
This is the Seafood City in South San Francisco. This is very exciting for me because they are currently renovating the old K Mart on Elston Avenue in Chicago just east of Cicero Ave to become Seafood City.
This is located within 1/2 of mile where I live in Forest Glen (walking distance to mi casa). In addition I'm told they are opening another Jolibee's within Seafood City along with an assortment of other well known chains. For those of you that aren't familiar with Seafood City the obvious name, will be well stocked with fresh fish and tons of Filipino food items that come with the territory.
The store in San Francisco has an enormous selection of fresh fish. If that's any indication of things to come at the Chicago store and if you love fish, how can you not be excited. The store also has a food court that will make Flips do flips as well as anyone that loves their food. Restaurants like Jolibee's, (halo halo), Crispy Town, Grill City, among Filipino bakeries....
I can't wait for this location to open so I can pop in and buy fresh fish without having to travel very far.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Charito R.Richmond District, San Francisco, United States02Dec 26, 2021
There is no star review for any food service that has no business ethics. We placed an order for 2 cebuchon on 2 diff days and when its time to pick up they said that thier oven broke? They didn't even call us that their oven broke? Someone who was eating there informed us that someone just picked up cebuchon? Not a reliable, unprofessional personnel, no business ethics. The greed of accepting orders and can't deliver tells me to tell my friends and family to stop buying from grill city. Very dissapointed and disgusted how they handled this situation. Time to train your people on customer service and keep your customer happy! Im forced to click a star to post this review. Should be zero star.

Seafood City Supermarket - So. San Francisco.
- much cleaner than other Seafood City we've been to.
- for now, it doesn't smell fishy inside like other Seafood City we've been to.
- a lot of Filipino Food Selections, from Filipino spices, to munchies which my family and I come here for.
- they have a small food court, where u can pick between Grill City or Crispy Town.
- Jollibee, Red Ribon, & Valerio's Bakery is just a few steps away.
- parking gets very crowded.
- the big question now is, when will Chow King open?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jennifer B.San Francisco, United States2320395Jan 14, 2019
I came here today and my experience was okay.
I finally tagged along with my parents cause they often go here to buy Filipino food. There were plenty of options and the price was decent. Not too crazy.
I came in the morning so it wasn't too busy and the staff were really friendly.
I liked the grill city restaurants. You can find grill seafood and meat.
It was an okay experience and nice to go if you want to make Filipino dishes.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Terry S.Daly City, United States135192206Aug 11, 2019Updated review
