So I visited Montreal for the 1st time a couple of weeks ago. I implored with my host to take me dancing one night and BOY does this location thoroughly hit the spot! All of us were in their sweating and dancing the night away. Immediately upon entrance, we were brought a bottle of Moet and sat at a table right alongside the dance floor. That made for easy access to dance the night away or sit down whenever needed.
There was a healthy mix of Latin music to keep you moving all night. They played something for everyone.
Despite be super packed, everyone was respectful of one another and you can tell that it's a local spot! I did use the restroom and it was relatively clean for the environment. I believe entry was complimentary for both of us.
I will be back!

The service not so great. The place itself is nice! I found this place on yelp looking for clubs to go to. My friend loves Spanish music and especially Salsa dancing so this was right up her alley. We took a cab to the address and we got lost. This place is difficult to find, it needs a better sign out at the front.
When we found it we opened the door to reveal a very long flight of rainbow colored steps that lit up...so pretty! Females entry i believe was $5.
At the bar area we shared a couple drinks and like a club it was quite expensive which we knew would happen. Finding a spot to sit was okay but flagging down someone to take our order was a bit of a hassle. We were at the bar initially but they asked for us to be seated and someone will come to us. We got a few cocktails and they were all made extremely light for the price we paid. We figured it would have had at least a bit more alcohol and not taste like it was a mocktail.
Luckily the dance floor is a 5/5. We got to dance the night away and every 30 minutes or so they turn on their fog machines. Can't see a single thing in front of me... we found this quite hilarious so we didn't mind at all. The dance floor is quite small but just perfect for the small crowd (surprisingly empty on weekends). I would come again i did find it more interesting than a few of the other clubs we went to that night. The palm trees, the lights everywhere, it was surely a sight to see.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Aria R.Bronx, United States02Mar 26, 2022
I went to Salsatheque to relax and spend time with friends. The price of admission is roughly $12 CAD and they do have coat check for $3. The staff at the front was fine and calm.
The club is very mediocre in general. The DJ that was there was very mediocre. He often had very iffy transitions in the genres he was going to from EDM Pop to reggae/dancehall to merengue. It was often very sloppily done which was frustrating to watch and hear. Another issue is the song choices were either iffy transitions or the barebones of song genres. Please choose another set of Spanish songs outside of Suavemente and Gasolina. It's not hard.
The place gets packed very easily and can often be very hard to maneuver. As a result, people are often very touchy from left field with no regard of other's personal space. Even one instance where someone recorded a video of my friend without her consent. Another issue with the size capacity of the space was that because a lot of people head to the dance floor there was an instance where another friend mentioned how she felt the floors moving. As a result, I worry the capacity when an emergency happens.
I wouldn't entirely recommend it. The staff are nice in general but there is a lot that needs to be improved on, and until they're improved on then it'll keep being mediocre.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 14, 2019
Cheap and crowded. If you like that, this is the spot.
Come here to dance Salsa, Bachata and some Merengue. DJs put like a mix of whatever comes to their mind. This could improve, but hey, people were having tons of fun.
I just needed more space to dance.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sophie S.Cambridge, United States552333Aug 20, 2017
First club I ever went to and it was amazing. They don't have mojitos which is weird because that's a Latino thing. I got a piña colada which was yummy. It seems to be a mix of white and Latino people with a few asians. No guys bothered me and my friend. You get in for free (as of now) if you sign up on he guest list beforehand. Could anyone tell me how much the entry is? All my favorite Spanish songs were played. Shape of You was the only western people song I heard. The staff was so nice. I came in early before the rush and didn't have cash so they let me go pay in their office in the back.

The cheaper version of Copcabana is this place called Salsatheque. It's a club that plays primarily Latino dance music and caters to Latino people. It's located on Peel Street and it's usually open from thursdays to saturdays. The beer prices here are a bit cheaper than Copacabana's, like a dollar cheaper and the hard drinks are cheaper as well. There are lots of seats here to sit around in this bar and there's a big dance floor to do your salsa dancing. The bar is located upstairs on the 2nd floor of the building. It's near the 6/49 latin dance school; so you get your runoff of customers from there too.
This place is also brightly lit inside and this place gets packed on Saturday nights and it's hard to find an available seat. I hardly see white people or blacks or Arabs or Asians coming to this club like Sir Winstons. Mainly latinos coming here and having a good time here. I come here once in a while since I look Latino and fit it in some nights if someone speaks English to me.
Most people who go here seems to speak French mostly followed by Spanish and then some English. Especially with the girls anyways.
This place is worth a visit with friends who are into Latino music and not shy, and like to party.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Don V.Vimont, Laval, QC237Jul 26, 2010First to Review
It depends when you go and what you're into. Wednesdays are good for Salsa fans and students from the San Tropez school below to come practice.
Fridays they have a DJ playing latin music and at midnight they dust off the reggaeton and club music. Good club to go to with friends. It rocks better if you're not afraid to dance.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mélodie P.Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, QC01Apr 22, 2019

If you're big on Spanish music it's an okay option. It was very foggy to the point where I couldn't see my friends who were right in front of me. The fog made my throat close up, which was not a very pleasurable experience. The staff wasn't the friendliest. I will not discredit the coat check ladies for their kindness but the rest of the staff was just plain out rude. Also make sure you bring cash they do not accept cards.
