The Big Cheese Squeeze is my classic go to choice! The bun and burger are lightly crispy around the edges, which make it SO tasty. Their potato wedges and curly fries are the bomb jam, and their prices are fair as well. I've seen people on here say that the burgers are greasy, but I highly disagree. Dinner for two is about $12 for a burger and some fries. Classic little restaurant that you need to try.

We've ordered takeout from here a few times now. I get the 1/4 cheese squeeze and my husband gets the big cheese squeeze. So fresh, juicy and delicious! The potato wedges and onion rings have made it home fresh and piping hot both times. Definitely our new "to-go" burger place! The staff have been great as well.

We were on our way home last night to Detroit when we passed Roy's. In a last-minute decision I turned in and we decided to try it. We quickly Yelped in the parking lot and read a few "best burger evar" reviews, but I was still dubious.
The place looks like it's right out of 1955, which is kind of awesome. It smells like a grease pit. Mmm. I definitely smelled like a giant burger when we left. We wanted something small-ish so both got 1/4 lb cheeseburgers and shared a small order of potato wedges.
The burgers came out quickly and looked pretty awesome--almost Blimpy-like, if I had to pinpoint the "look." They tasted just as good. Greasy, delicious, but with a bit too much salt. If I had one complaint it would be the seasoning. I think oregano is used, and that's a little weird to me, and not really in a good way. However, the greasy goodness outweighed that.
Potato wedges were really hot and yummy, if I go again I'd try the curly fries. The waitress (or server, there's just a counter, no tables), was being a little unprofessional and talking to guys the whole time we were there. That annoyed me a little bit, but it was almost closing time and it's not a fancy joint, so there ya go.
I'd definitely come back for a bite, I wish it were closer to downtown. It'd be great after-drinking food.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sly F.Pinckney, United States11549Jun 25, 2010
After having not eaten all day and having my choice of places to eat, I was faced with the dilemma of picking a spot affordable and also one my hubbie could stand. I'm a big fan of Sidetracks burgers and was thinking of one of those, though my hubbie can't stand the night crowd and has lately been disenchanted with their cooking. So with him waiting patiently for me to name a place I hopped on here to cruise for some ideas.
It was between Roys and Gabriel's and I went for the burger joint. We brought a friend along too since we saw in earlier reviews that it was affordable for a broke college student. We sat down at the counter, it started out as us three and one other guy, but by the time food was ordered six others had wandered in on top of three or four to go orders. Needless to say busy!
I got the burger with bacon and cheese, our friend the cheese s queeze, my hubbie the regular squeeze. All got very positive reviews, very hot and the toppings underneath the patty which was nice so when I went to put on ketchup it didn't fall all over my basket. It reminded me of my childhood when we'd go to the old burger joint of the town or on holidays when we'd go to A&W.
I ordered a family style of potato wedges, figuring with two men with me they'd be quickly eaten up. We still had half a basket left by the time we paid our bill and jetted. The wedges were okay, they had a strange flavor to them for me, maybe it was the oil they were cooked in. Still edible but a slight flavor and scent that I wasn't familiar with or a big fan of in taste. I ate them regardless since they were still good.
The only downfalls of our visit I say was the waitress and they charge for water. I ordered a soda, but our friend and my hubby stuck with water and were surprised and a little fussy when they found out it was charged. I'm sure she's heard it all before because she was quick to say, "This isn't McDonalds." Which I merely agreed with her to stop the men from arguing. I think this is the first place I've been to that charges for a glass of water where you already purchase something at that business (heck the place I work with does that if you don't buy anything at the store) so while I didn't agree with it, there wasn't much we could do seeing as we were sitting down and eating there. Next time we'll take it to go.
While the waitress was definitely no-nonsense, she didn't attempt to be charming in any manner to anyone at any point in time. And while there was perhaps 3 customers that deserved (maybe even expected) that type of behavior, the other 9 of us just interacted with her as little as possible so she could take her scowling disposition to the back of the shop and plate the food.
Took forever for her to get around to our drinks too, though she was working alone and did get slammed - she looked a little disoriented there for a while. I saw others that came in wait a while for their drinks as well.
The menu was small and simple which was fine since it made for quick decision making. However, now that I'm back home I can sort of smell that burger cooking grease that reminisces of high school days flipping burgers at the local fast food restaurant on my hair. It clings to the clothes too, though the restaurant didn't seem to stink much at all.
There was a debate whether it was the "best burger in town" with us, seeing as we are fans of Sidetracks... but they have been slacking lately and this was a great different taste and atmosphere. We will probably order from here again, but take it go next time to avoid any of the nitpicks we bumped into on our first visit.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ken S.Ypsilanti, United States08Jul 20, 2018
It's real people treating you right serving up good food and not over charging like most of Ypsi does. The burgers are great, the potato wedges, love em, even the ham & cheese is worth a try. I am always happy I went.

If you ever catch yourself waiting in the drive thru at Mickey D's or BK, smack yourself in the face and go to Roy's Squeeze Inn. The quarter cheese squeeze with potatoes wedges will fill you up for sure. If you're extra hungry get the big squeeze. Lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo are default toppings and are a great compliment to their burgers. If you want a simpler burger, get the little squeeze sliders. Topped with ketchup, mustard, and pickle slices. An Ypsi legend!!!

Amazing cheeseburgers and potato wedges! I love to stop here for lunch. The food always really fills me up too. My girlfriend likes the onion rings a lot.
