I hadn't been to Rice's in years. I don't know why. Part of it probably was convenience. It's not on my normal route. It's a special trip. I usually commute by bike, so that's a bigger deal, especially since it takes some cycling on less than ideal streets to get there.

I recently needed some wound management supplies. On the way home, my friend stopped by Bi-Mart first. I am a big fan. They didn't have what we needed. We went by Rite-Aid knowing they are usually the most expensive. They apparently carried one of the items we needed, but they were out of stock. We did take note of the price. I waited in line to ask the pharmacist in case they had some other things in back that weren't on the shelf. They told me to go talk to the other part of the store as they just dispense medication. Another line, and I got a cold, "Nope; if it's not on the shelf we ain't got it."

We were going to head out to the other Bi-Mart and Safeway next, but decided to stop at Rice's on the way. I am glad we did. My friend didn't want to stop there, but my friend's mind has now been changed. Not only did they have all the items we needed, the prices were much more affordable.

Did I mention the staff is very friendly? No. I guess I didn't. Well, they are. Helpful and friendly.

Even though it's out of the way, I think I'm going to tell my doctors to change all my prescriptions to Rices. If that helps keep them in business, it's a no-brainer. Small independent shop that cares about the community, unlike Rite-Aid which is a huge corporation - allegedly number 148 in the Fortune 500. Far more personable.

It reminds me of growing up in the '70s. One of our neighbors was a pharmacist at an independent drug store nearby. We always used that pharmacy for the same reasons I'll always use Rice's now.

Locally owned pharmacy and they do a great job. The pharmacists are incredibly knowledgeable. They have a good selection of OTC medications too for reasonable prices - definitely better than Walgreens or RiteAid, but not as good as BiMart. But they have way better prices on prescriptions than anywhere else in town. Cozy, comfortable environment and they respect patient privacy.

At first I liked this place, and I wanted to support small business and not go to Safeway.. but now I will do just that. After my experience at Rices i'm in shock! The Head pharmacist literally threw my medication at me when I declined a counsel of something I've been getting for weeks. Just unbelievable

One of my favorite 70's memory of Rice's Pharmacy was the Volkswagen white VW Bug they had with a huge black and white pill mounted to the roof that they did their free prescription deliveries with. It was a great service for the older folks in town that needed meds refilled.

Outside of the OSU bookstore, this is one of my favorite stops to pick up gifts. If you get your prescriptions filled here then kudos for supporting the hometown pharmacy!

If anyone has a photo of that old bug please post it!

Wonderful pharmacy! They are so helpful, kind, caring, friendly, knowledgeable. I can't remember when I started going here, but at least a decade, probably 2 decades! All the staff are exceptional, especially the pharmacist Tom.Thank you for such great service!

Rice's Pharmacy is head and shoulders above all other pharmacies I've used, and I have quite a few prescriptions. They get it right, all the time, and the staff is efficient, highly competent and very helpful.

You can find many products that are usually only available in specialty pharmacies, from braces for every joint to cane accessories and diabetic supplies.

In addition to the pharmacy, Rice's is also a gift shop with several convenience-store aisles as well. Great place to shop!

I am a sucker for pharmacy/gift shops like Rice's. They're great. I always loved going in there. I didn't buy much from there during my Corvallis years but the atmosphere was really nice. Their prices were higher than Fred Meyer's pharmacy so I never got scrips filled there but occasionally I'd go in there for something or other. It's an old, old store and a staple of Corvallis - the clientele is mostly the older folks who have known and trusted them forever.

Very impressed by the quality of service for a small company! We never have a long wait, compared to Rite Aid, are happy with their prices, and love their emphasis on Made in Oregon products in the Gift Department.
