Been dropping by RGE RD every now and then, and honestly, I'm always impressed. The service is top-notch - warm and welcoming, you know?
The staff make you feel right at home. And the food, it's always been spot on for me. I've seen a few negative reviews about the food quality, but that's never been my experience. Every time I'm there, everything's delicious and cooked just right.
It's one of those places I keep coming back to. Great vibes, great food, and the kind of service that makes your meal even better. Definitely worth checking out if you're in Edmonton and looking for a nice dining spot (if you are a first timer here and love meat, Bison Sausage - is a MUST TRY).Helpful 4Thanks 2Love this 3Oh no 0 - 5591452Oct 13, 2023
We came here for my birthday back in September! My friends were in town too from Vancouver so of course we had to make sure they got to eat some alberta meats.
I ordered the four whistle farm duck breast and it was juicy and tender. We also started with the bison tartare. Great meal all around for a milestone birthday with consistent and attentive service as usual!Helpful 0Thanks 2Love this 3Oh no 0 - Oct 15, 2023
We were fortunate to try Rge Rd for our first anniversary last night, and overall enjoyed our experience. I would rate the service and ambience a solid 10/10, the actual location about a 8.5-9. It's a small space and sitting in the middle of the room I felt a tad claustrophobic as I had to be mindful to not accidentally bump people walking past when adjusting my napkin, but that's the trade off for an intimate setup.
Sadly, I think we'd rate the food at about a 8. Don't get me wrong: everything is exceptionally cooked, and I love the dedication to making as much as possible in house. In fact, it's that dedication and execution that bumped my rating up from a 7. The downfall, however, was that there wasn't any bright or bold flavours. Everything felt very one note and overly safe, and sadly...not in a good or particularly interesting way. The tartare was our favourite part, but lacked some acidity to give it that oomph, and my duck was underwhelming at best. There was minimal taste to the mushroom dashi, and while it was flawlessly cooked...there was nothing memorable to it. My husband's bison was excellent, however, and were we to return, I'd happily order that.
Dessert was a strong point with the sorbet packing an exceptional amount of flavour, and the tres leche hitting the mark perfectly.
Overall, we were glad to have had a chance to try things but would have loved a little more flavour. Perhaps it was an off night, but I will say that our server was absolutely amazing and made our time spent very enjoyable.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 19, 2023Updated review
I've been to Rge Rd a few times since 2018 and it's one of the nice fine dining restaurants in Edmonton. It's definitely a good choice for a fine dining experience or a special occasion given the quality of their food, the service, and the ambience at the restaurant. Overall 9/10. Highlights:
- Butcher's Cut
- Creme Brulee
- Road Trip (Tasting Menu)

Overall, it was an amazing experience. I got the shoulder steak with their braised beef sauce. The steak was quite tender and beefy. The braised beef sauce they offered had multiple layers of flavours and it was better than any other similar things I've had in Edmonton. I also tried their creme brulee and their creme brulee is probably the best in Edmonton.

RGE RD is the ultimate experience in fine dining. I ate with my family and we were so delighted with service, taste and presentation.

Called at 3PM for a 5PM reservation for a Saturday night and had no problems. Place was full by 6PM so I do recommend making a reservation or at least calling before you come. We were seated quite close to 2 other 2-people tables so it was hard to even consider a private conversation. Both those tables got the Road Trip as well and it was funny to watch who got served first and who liked what.
2 gender-neutral single-person bathrooms. Limited parking right in front of the restaurant door and some street parking as well. Decor is quite fancy and makes for a fancy night. We did the Road Trip dinner - seasonal tasting menu. Staff were very kind and asked at least 3 different times if we had any dietary restrictions/allergies. It worked out to be ~$110 per person.
My brother got the "I'm a Doctor" cocktail, it was quite tart but a good mouth cleanse between courses.
Unfortunately there was no written menu so forgive my memory - just broadly the courses were:
Elk tartare with crispy potato strings - being from the healthcare profession tartare scares me Especially game meat but it was delicious. Potato topping was super crisp. 10/10
2 shrimp with small salad - Shrimp was really mushy and not to my personal liking. Salad looked amazing and tasted fine.
Lentil soup with asparagus salad - lentil soup on its own was too strong for me. Mixed in with the asparagus salad was much better. Loved the thin slices of asparagus.
Bread board with spaghettini - 12/10 best part of the meal. Breads were so soft and fresh. Spicy honey butter was a knockout - 100% would highly recommend. Spaghettini was cooked perfectly and there was enough sauce so it was super creamy and rich.
sorbet as a palate cleanser - Very fresh but not too tart/sour.
lamb with beet puree - best lamb I've ever had. I have Never had a lamb I did like so this is high praise. Great texture. Beet puree was good and very beet taste. The other side I cannot recall what it was or even describe the taste other than it was meh/fine.
Rhubarb cake with mousse dessert- so who got the other half of my cake?! Wish it was a bigger and the taste was very light/not overpowering. The mousse was very nice and light and creamy. Very pretty presentation.
Overall we were not full after but felt we did get a great variety of foods all of which were better than I expected. This being my second tasting menu done in Edmonton I would recommend this one more.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jul 6, 2022Previous reviewWith construction in the area a little stressful to get to and a Very tiny parking lot (literally and physically). But there is street parking right in front of the restaurant as well. As we did not make reservations we were offered a table that we would only have an hour and a half at OR the bar. We chose the bar so we wouldn't feel rushed. Stayed 2 hours (entrée + dessert ordered). Waitress was very friendly and helpful describing the menu. I found it challenging to remember all the options of the butchers cut and pork choices (like 3 of each) and wish it was written out somewhere so I could see it instead of try to remember all the sizes and prices. Waitress was super accommodating to my friend who has a gluten-intolerance and lactose-intolerance. She was able to ask the chef which sauces contained dairy, if they could substitute certain vegetables, and substitute the starch option. Bathroom was single person use. Very cool toilet, nice and clean room, baby changing station present.
Friend got the Bison with hasselback potato and boiled beets. She liked it and ate 90%. She wished there was more vegetables on the plate.
I got the Bison. It looked very pretty. It contained even less vegetables as it had 4 tiny chunks of carrot. Bison appears quite raw but I trusted the chef to cook it appropriately and thought maybe it was the lighting. But raw game meat causes me anxiety. Hazelnut spatzle was interesting but not my new favorite starch. Cool to try something new though. I loved the mustard seeds as it gave a lovely pop in the mouth. The berries added a very fresh taste but were very strongly flavored.
I also tried the Sea Buckthorn Posset dessert. Wonderful presentation. Loved the crispy milk (tastes just like milk foam but stiff). Pine pollen was very interesting too - glad it was only on half the dessert. Honeycomb was 10/10 delicious. I unfortunately did not like the birch syrup/brown sauce. So overpowering and it gave me a gut ache. Was not a dessert I would go back for or even wanted more of - and isn't that what a dessert is supposed to do?
Friend got the BC ice wine and loved it - very small portion for $15 in my opinion.
Overall super pricey, nice meat options, great atmosphere and staff, but food wasn't something I would get again. - R S.Sherwood Park, AB04Feb 7, 2024
Went to Range Road and will never return. Brown butter risotto was swimming in butter. Made my husband sick to his stomach, owner claimed it was the alcohol but he didn't drink as he had to work that night at a brewery so he knew better.
Bill was $400 and the owner gave us $90 credit. No thank you, I'll just save my stomach and money. Very disappointed. Not sure what everyone is giving 5 stars about.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Katrina G.Edmonton, AB846Aug 27, 2023
Went here to treat myself to a "road trip" tasting menu and I have nothing bad to say about it. 8 delicious courses with full explanations and lots of variety. Next special occasion or special treat you have to come here.

So I did the tasting menu with my girlfriends instead of getting each other Christmas gifts.
Everything was good. It had a hip tone in terms of atmosphere, but also cozy and classic.
We had a great server. Really knowledgable of the menu. And since they did the tasting menu and it switches often, I will try to remember all the dishes.
To start with
1. Marinated tempura squash with 'creamed' miso corn, brussel sprout slaw, pickled kohlrabi and pickled grapes. Really liked this dish. It was fresh and beautiful. I really enjoyed the pickled grape.
2. Pan seared pickerel with squash purée, wood oven roasted brussel sprouts and escabeche. Again a nice fresh dish, plated well with a nice balance of flavours
3. Savoury bread pudding with brioche, leek, foie gras,
pine mushroom & brown butter ice cream and apple gel. This was by far our favourite dish. Innovative, interesting, and the flavours were rich and spot on. They should put them on the menu full time.
4. fettuccini with venison with mushroom & celeriac, cocoa & leek ash and pickled kale stem & onion. The flavours worked but I found the dish to be a bit greasy. The pasta though was perfectly cooked with the nice chewy texture.
5. Pork with pearl barley salad, roasted squash, pickled kohlrabi,
apple & cherry mostarda and charred kale. By this time we were pretty full but I found the combination really well, but the pork was perhaps a bit overcooked.
6. Apple espuma with toffee cream, porter cake, calvados compressed apple. Again a beatiful innovative dish. Not too rich, flavourful. A great way to end the evening
The reason why they loose a star is price point. It is really pricey. I would go there a bit more if say they were around 4-5 dollars cheaper on their entrees. The place was full, so I think there are enough people willing to pay for it. For sure, the best bang for your buck is the tasting menu.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Candice C.Edmonton, AB79165135Mar 18, 2023
We visited RGE Rd for the first time back in November. I wish I had dined here sooner! Dining here feels like I'm in a friends kitchen. It's welcoming and warm, not stark like some restaurants. Beautiful fixtures that add a vintage touch.
First stop, cocktails! RGE Rd is the place to go for carefully created cocktails. From locally sourced spirits and sodas to perfectly paired wines. My go-to is usually an Old Fashioned, and RGE Rd didn't disappoint. I think their bitters might even be house-made. For those of you who prefer zero-proof, there's a great selection of less than wobbly pops too!
My date and I started off our experience with a Scotch Egg and Pierogis. Both were exceptionally delicious, and I would have enjoyed more, but I had to save room for the real reason I came, STEAK! I was a little confused about the menu and the choices for cuts, but our amazing server Rob guided us through and assured us it's not uncommon. My date and I both chose the striploin, prepared to the chef's suggested temperature. When it arrived, it was nothing short of perfect!
Service at RGE Rd is exceptional. Non-pretentious and very welcoming. They anticipate your every need with attentive care but aren't hovering over you. One thing I did notice was the teamwork! While I knew who my server was, it wasn't uncommon for someone else to deliver a drink or top up your water. Makes for a better experience when you are cared for by everyone.
I can't wait to come back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
