Right on the PCH ... lays a hidden gem next to some run down motel!! - but dont let that fool ya!
Parking is EASY! Glad they even offer valet! (so do not freak out!) / next to valet is self parking available.
Fun and yummy place - Order at the window and once your names called.. you go pick up your order at the pick up window! (Cute!)
Inside decors pretty sweet: booths around the window and long benches in the center. Self serve iced cold water AND self serve sauces (tarter sauce was ON POINT)
I love how everything I got was NOT salty - Or didn't have the fishy scent... literally had clean taste to everything! *thumbs up*
- Clam Chowder: juicy clams w/ chunky potatoes.. DELICIOUS!!!!!
- Captains Batter - Fried calamari, fried shrimps, and fried fish... Juicy and again Delicious!!
- Cajun bass with (sides of your choice).. mine was steamed veggies w/ mashed potatoes... YUMMY!!
- Lobster tail - (Market price) a MUST with some melted butter!!!
Enjoyed Reel Inn very much and will be back!Helpful 15Thanks 0Love this 16Oh no 0 - Michelle I.Los Angeles, United States519180474Sep 15, 2019
My favorite place to eat when I'm having a beach day. So much so that I can't think of Malibu without craving the Pepper Seared Ahi Salad with wasabi cream dressing and a Bloody Maria on the side.
You can walk right over from Topanga Beach, although it's always a bit of a pain having to cross the street and wait for all the fast cars all the time.
Also, the best time to go is right when they open at 11am. When the 12:00 lunch hour hits, the lines start getting long really quickly.
Luckily, there is not only a lot of space to sit outside, but also three different sections of outdoor seating to enjoy as well. And free WiFi to enjoy while you are waiting in line.
The Pepper Seared Ahi Salad, as I said is perfectly delicious! I do wish it was a bigger salad for $16, however. It's a bit small for the price tag.
And for the Bloodies, you can order either a standard Bloody Marie or opt for a Bloody Maria, if Tequila is more your style. Only $8 and they even ask you how spicy you like it ahead of time.
The bathroom is VERY cramped - one stall in a tiny room and a bit of a claustrophobic hallway to wait in if there is a queue. But not that big a deal.
It's a great place to go with your friends! You aren't cramped against other tables in the eating areas and you can actually hear each other talk. You get either a great beach view at the front or a great nature view at the back. And it's a great place to come alone and just enjoy everything by yourself if you're just having a relaxing "me" day.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - DaBoy11 Z.Thousand Oaks, United States316Jan 28, 2023

Wanted to drop by a local seafood place on the PCH and this place was very busy! It's low frills seafood place. While it all tastes as it should, nothing so amazing or wrong. Setup more like a takeout window than a restaurant with waiters. Reflects in the reasonable pricing. Will def come by again for a quick and easy meal!

Fun, fresh and friendly! I haven't eaten here in years. When I went last Saturday I was not disappointed. The weather was perfect and the view was a nice addition to my meal. The staff was efficient and friendly. The line spilled into the parking lot, but the wait was fast. Tom and a Cynthia killed it at the ordering windows. The calamari was delicious and not over battered. I can't wait to go back.

I've been coming here a long time and I can't say that I come here because I am absolutely in love with it. I like the fact that there's a three dollar valet which is pretty reasonable right across the beach.
I like the fact that they have bench tables and a really nice patio that's very dog friendly. And for a nice seafood plate it's probably worth what you pay for it. But the fries were never super exciting on the coleslaw was never super exciting.
One thing I really enjoy is there tartar sauce and cocktail sauce. It looks like they mix it with the Tarter sauce with dill and just the right amount of relish. And you can add it to just about anything and make it taste great.
They also have blackened Cajun style fish. Which I've ordered every now and then. I like the flavors but I wouldn't say they're great so on a scale of 1 to 10 there about five. Since it's so family-friendly and dog friendly I think it's The biggest bonus for me to come here and really enjoy myself. Also be careful when you sit on the patio close to the fence. Seems like the bees and wasps always seem to find me. But I think that's kind of true with any outside venue if you're not carefulHelpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jasper E.Los Angeles, United States0661Apr 7, 2022
Best fried shrimp in L.A. county. Generous portions of seafood and sides; I particularly like the home fries. I usually stop here when visiting Malibu. Big menu. I like the beach shack vibe, and convenient, free parking, too.

I am a clam chowder/seafood lover , I was disappointed with clam chowder thickness, it wasn't thick at all, however the fish taco was good and fresh. The service was fast, and they are very clean! I also loved the decor surf boards everywhere and beautiful aquarium

I think this place is more for the fun laid back atmosphere than the food. Their food is fine, but not excellent; everything is very basic. They do not have wait service. You order food and pick it up yourself. They do bus the tables. There are tables inside and also picnic tables with parasols outside. You can enjoy partial view of the ocean across PCH. They play music from the 60s and 70s. It's laid back, fun and, funky.
Something I don't like about this place is the ordering process. There's always a line, and you have to look at the menu board above the pick-up window (see my photo) while waiting in line before you come to the order window. First of all, there are quite a few things on the menu, and then you do not see the catch of the day and other stuff until you come to the order window. I admit these menu boards are cool (because they are kind of funky), but I don't think they are very functional.
If you do not want to spend too much (most dishes cost 10-$20) and eat in a relaxed atmosphere, Reel Inn could be a good choice. They have a fish tank and are kids friendly. They serve non-seafood items, too. If you're looking for something fancier in the area, you may want to consider Gladstone's or Duke's. These places are much more expensive, but they have wait service, better food (in my opinion), and better views of the ocean.
The parking lot at Reel Inn is small and always crowded, but we've never had a problem parking here. Parking used to be free but it now costs $3, which is also much cheaper compared to Gladstone's and Duke's.
