I honestly don't know what some of these reviewers experienced. This place is fantastic, homely and sweet. The staff is genuine and friendly.
If you are looking for a professional dinning experience, try somewhere else. This place has good hard working people that make amazing food.
I had the chicken roti which was amazing, slightly sweat with a bit of tang to it. The Jamaican paddies are awesome.
It feels like they have a genuine passion for what they do.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Candace S.Kitchener, ON011Mar 23, 2019
This is a very clean, nicely decorated restaurant. The staff were very friendly and they have a large menu to choose from. I had the jerk chicken with peas and rice and macaroni salad and my boyfriend had the curry chicken. Both were really great. I have to say the macaroni salad was the best I've ever had, but the jerk chicken was also nice and saucy. Would highly recommend.

I liked my experience here but overall I would only give it a rating of B. The staff was so so on the friendly end of things. Our order was messed up. The food tasted good especially the jerk chicken. It's a pricy place to eat as even a small meal which included rice and 2 pieces of chicken was $15.

Two words: Curry. Goat. Yes. (Sorry, that was three, but it needed to be there for emphasis.)
I highly recommend the dinner / lunch special. With it, you get 1 meat, a side of rice, a side of salad, and a fried plantain. It's a bit pricey at $13-16, but it's worth it.
I usually get the curry goat dish with rice and beans. Get the rice and beans. Oh man, I'm salivating thinking about it.
I personally don't find the service too friendly. A little cold at times even. I also constantly have trouble hearing what they say to me over the counter. But in the end, I do it for the curry goat.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Guorui W.Manhattan, United States845630Aug 16, 2016
Came here around dinner time and got the Jerk Chicken dinner and Curry Goat dinner (around $30 total). Both came with meat, rice, fried plantains, a soup and a salad.
The Curry Goat dinner was really good, the meat was super tender and you can really taste the goat flavor. The Jerk Chicken was a bit dry, but they gave more chicken than I was expecting. For the soup, we chose the chicken soup, and it was one of the best tasting soups I've ever had, I would highly recommend getting it if they have it available for that day. Overall, I really enjoyed the food, and the portions were extremely generous (we had to take home 1/3 of the food to go).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vixen K.Cambridge, ON4528245Dec 20, 2019
I've came here a few times and they actually cook good here. Some Caribbean restaurant's are either a Hit or Miss and I find it's more of a hit, when it comes to this one. The curry and jerk chicken is good and I love the soups and pattis here. The customer service is really good as well, very patient and accommodating. Sometimes there is a long line up and the wait time can be hectic at times but it's definitely worth it and it's obvious, others enjoy the food here as well. I highly recommend this place.

Got two small combos which came with one choice of meat, peas/rice, and a choice of side. We ordered the jerk chick and chicken curry (disappointed that they didn't have the beef curry at the time), and coleslaw and daily soup as a side. The coleslaw was mild but creamy. The soup was a bean soup with a beef broth that was smooth and creamy. The jerk chicken was covered in gravy (which they asked if we wanted) and was flavourful and mostly moist - a little dry at certain parts of the chicken. I personally didn't think the curry was amazing when I first started eating it, but I finished it off so easily even though it was a LOT of food, so it was definitely very good. We never had plantains before and were surprised they are quite a bit more sour than bananas! Overall a good experience.

My new favorite restaurant (with delivery) in KW. The chicken curry is fantastic, as is the chick pea roti. Both are wonderfully flavored and easily compete with the likes of the Real Jerk in Toronto, so much so that I'm not sure which I prefer more. And both come with a delicious side of plantain.
A few notes to help others out:
- The options for sides included with dinner are: macaroni salad, cole slaw (quite good) or soup.
- Rice and peas really means rice and kidney beans.
- Delivery is available but pricey. We paid $10. I think this option was made available through a 3rd party service.
- They only take cash or debit.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Frederick C.Kitchener, ON1082927Feb 4, 2014
Was coming up to Kitchener from Toronto and was craving Jerk Chicken, decided to go Yelp for some recommendation as I'm not too familiar with this area, I saw several good reviews on yelp and one bad review on a random but recent blogsite. Comin from Toronto and up from the west end I am somewhat familiar of what Caribbean food should taste like, especially since my guardian is also from the island so she taught me a few things. So here's the run down of what I ordered. Jerk Chicken Lunch Special with Rice n Peas, Plantain n a Soup for 11.95 (a bit expensive IMO for what you get)
-chicken soup with dumpling was good and heartwarming
-jerk chicken was EXTREMELY DRY (I had to order an additional drink for it to go down) and it was extremely bland, in which their own hot sauce is what sorta gave it flavor
-I usually like to have my meal served with oxtail gravy but the lady drowned it into my rice n peas (which was decent) which I wouldn't mind except...it tasted like nothing at all...
-the plantain that came with it was quite tasty and probably the best part of the entire meal
-Again...can't stressed this enough the chicken was like sawdust pasted with water and Tabasco sauce
-The young lady over the counter was quite impatient and rude with us probably because we aren't of the western look. I noticed this because she was rude to us but all smiles to the other folks that walked in. The older lady though was a bit more nicer and welcoming though
-Value wise this feels like a complete rip-off $10 usually gets me 2 thighs, n 2 breast where as this got me only a VERY DRY thigh and breast which usually downtown Toronto serves as a lunch special for $5 including rice n coleslaw (tasting miles much better)
-beef patty was decent though
***I understand this is my first review but I just wanted to warn ppl NOT to have the chicken like I did and be completely ripped off. Especially for those who are new to the area and might possibly have the same craving as me. Maybe jerk chicken isn't their thing....it's like one of those situations where the food taste so bad you need to go to another joint to remedy the crap you just are....so Ritz by Eatons or Willy's Jerk you'll probably see me tomorrow, with my 1/2 jerk chicken on rice n peas, with the oxtail gravy, coleslaw and nutrament.
****will I ever return? Nah I'll just bring tabasco to home depot and serve it on the leftover sawdust they have there, at least I won't get attitude thereHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0
