I've been going to Pet Kingdom since childhood, now that I have a saltwater tank of my own this store has always been at the top of my list for reefing. Mike has extensive knowledge and genuine passion for marine life we're immediately evident as he guided me through their impressive selection of vibrant and healthy fish species. Mike's expertise not only ensured I made informed decisions for my aquarium but also left me feeling confident and excited about my purchases. With Pet Kingdom's exceptional saltwater fish department and Mike's unparalleled assistance, I wholeheartedly recommend them to fellow enthusiasts... and its always nice to cruise around the exotic reptile section.

Pet Kingdom is a great pet store for small exotic animals and fish including food, tanks, bedding, and associated equipment. Lots of exotic reptiles such as snakes , lizards, and turtles . Knowledgeable staff and very helpful. Rooster behind the counter along with their pet dogs. Only thing not great is the store is not super clean like big brand Petco.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff with everything you need for reptiles and amphibians. We got a crated gecko here, along with all the supplies to make a living vivarium.
Also this place is the only place I know of where you can get extra small crickets for baby lizards. They always throw in a few extras too. Great store!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 1 - Alex C.San Diego, United States30781Mar 3, 2024Updated review
Nice, friendly, knowledgeable workers, but buyer beware. My wife found a McCosker's flasher wrasse she liked, and we bought it. They said they just got it in. We immediately acclimated it to our quaratine tank. On day 2, we noticed a small white spot on the side of it. It got worse, and the fish died on the beginning of day 3. When I called, they said the return window is 24 hours, no exceptions. Any other place would have happily taken it back and atleast would have given a store credit. I've quaratined plenty of fish and never had an issue. Water parameters spot on. Money down the drain. We won't be buying from here again.

Alane with Pet Kingdom saved our son's Fly-River-Turtle with her keen insight and vast aquatic knowledge! Ten years ago our son adopted a Fly-River-Turtle from Pet Kingdom. "Tipsey" has been loved, spoiled and well cared for through all the years and lives comfortably in a 400 gallon fresh water aquarium in our home. We've always maintained a clean environment for Tipsey, but a couple of months ago we started noticing a very bright green, thick growth developing rapidly on the tank floors, walls, and surrounding rock decor. We thought it was an algae but couldn't seem to eradicate it. We took a water sample in to Pet Kingdom, and Alane did a comprehensive test of the sample while at the same time immediately identified the problem as a Cyanobacteria growth! She directed us to the proper chemical treatment and discussed in detail how we should treat the bacterial overgrowth that was harmful to our turtle and the fish. Within four days following Alane's detailed instructions, the growth stopped, and the water appeared fresh again. Thank you Alane for your expertise, patience and guidance with this critical problem you helped us solve. Many, many thanks!

San Diego is so lucky to have Pet Kingdom!
I've been coming here ever since I was a kid, it was where I bought my gecko in middle school and all of his supplies. The staff here cares deeply about the animals, and they are well taken care of.
I especially love their aquarium department. Recently purchased some frogs and they acclimated very well to my tank. You can tell how clean and well maintained the tanks in the store are. There's also a variety of plants and rarer fish. The bettas look much healthier and livelier than ones I've seen at chain pet stores, I think they must rotate them through larger tanks because I've seen bettas in their community tanks too. Highly recommend checking this place out. There's even a chicken in the store named Dwayne, what's not to love about that!?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elvis D.San Diego, United States036Aug 30, 2023
Yes! I love this place so much. I have gotten a few dojo loaches , a leopard gecko and a tree snake from this place and I'm happy to report that they were all healthy and well taken care of when they were there bc they haven't had any health problems or anything since. Petco is terrible never buy pets from them they will die within months! Also Dwayne the cock Johnson is awesome
