Best kept secret in Middletown. Do yourself a favor and try this restaurant. Take out and dine-in available. I've never eaten there, but this has quickly become our go-to takeout restaurant. The Tampa Roll and Dragon Fried Roll are my top two. Everything is so fresh and delicious, and the nicest husband and wife work there together. Go support this local family!

Great sushi at a great price. I was genuinely surprised that it was only $10 per roll. I figured that they would be tiny, but they came out as full sized sushi rolls.

Third time eating here. Hands down the best rolls and sushi negiri within Middletown, Newark and Dover Delaware. The salmon melts in your mouth. Tuna is nice and fatty. Not a dry piece of sushi. in the house. Kids loved the tempura ice cream as well. Cookies and cream, nom nom nom...

This place has potential. Just not with current management style. I have been here multiple times... its close. Place needs an update and the sushi chef needs a new attitude. Example: They were getting ready to go away on a trip recently, we were there the day before they were to leave... We were rushed out of the restaurant..uncomfortable. So if you want to go away and are running behind with your preparation, don't take take it out on the customers. Close earlier. You wonder why you aren't busy.

Worth the wait for some real authentic japanese food. Sushi is fresh always. Food is made to order which comes out item by item but bless their heart for keeping it real.
My suggestion is to plan on a long evening but again totally worth it. Avoid brining the kiddies, they wouldn't handle the waitHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Liz C.Elkton, United States7122Nov 12, 2011
My husband and I used to go to Ohama's every other week. We stopped going when I got pregnant. When we went back after a year, the server not only remembered us, she remembered our drink order! Is the service lightening fast? No, but it's not meant to be. It's a nice place to relax.
The prices are pretty typical for sushi in a suburban area. It's definitely cheaper than prices in the city (Philadelphia or Wilmington) and the rolls are huge. Quality and taste are very good.
Overall, we really like Ohama's and go there as often as we can.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeff Z.Bear, United States3445Jan 16, 2009First to Review
Interesting place. I drove by here one time and didn't know it existed until a friend told me about it. Somewhat hidden, but easy to find.
A few nights ago I finally made it to Ohama, a small, quaint Japanese restaurant just outside of Middletown. The sushi was pretty good. I got my usual assortment of maki sushi and tried one of their special rolls. I was quite pleased with the quality of the food, but the variety of design was lacking. Everything looked similar to each other.
I would be glad to eat there again although it is a bit pricey than other Japanese restaurants & sushi bars that I've been too. Just make sure you go when American Idol isn't on, it has a tendency to catch the staff's attention.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - R. T.Middletown, United States041Jan 14, 2017
Sushi was horrible. Definitely not fresh and that's probably because there is no "turn over" i.e. No customers. Place smells like an old house that hasn't been cleaned in years.
FYI: I've eaten at the best sushi places around the the world: Japan, Hawai'i, & New York.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Zach K.Wilmington, United States2231Dec 23, 2013
Love me some Ohama. The fact they use whole tuna in their spicy tuna instead of chopping up the unpalatable offs and ends means a lot. The sushi is consistently very good and stands up to sushi I've had across the US and around the world. When I ate meat, I loved the buffalo roll which is beef and cream cheese which will help you get your meat and potatoes non- sushi water in the door. They can be slow, but that's part of the experience and Oak is always happy to share a beer with you while you wait. It is worth a drive to try it and once you do, you'll be hooked.

I went here on a recommendation from some "friends." I had eaten here once, a long time ago, but the meal was unremarkable, either way. I was not so fortunate last night.
First of all, the service was just horrible. We were seated quickly, as there was barely any patrons. But the waitress took at least 10 minutes to come back for our drink order. I ordered sake, which I always get when I eat sushi or whenever it is available really. The sake smelled of vinegar and stunk up the whole table, and the taste made you wish you were drinking vinegar. A pre cursor of the palet horrors to come.
The sushi we ordered took 30 minutes with 8 people in the restaraunt, and seemed to be held together with tape? I could've made better with a MYO bought from Borders, and have. Our spider roll had what looked like 2 week old lettuce in it and was just so off putting I couldn't even try it. I was lucky, my friend didn't get off so easily. Every roll was bland, poorly prepared, and just was sad. Best word for it, sad. The tuna looked risky, the scallops mushy and sandy.
I didn't want to complain because I didn't want to make a scene but luckily my partner saw and smelled what I did. It didn't matter though, because the management stands by their product, and would only offer an explanation of what we were eating not why it was off cold and tasteless. I feel bad for those that think this is good sushi, you have been deceived and I feel sorry that you pay that much for that product. We ate at dominos next door. A 4 star restaraunt in comparison.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
