Hidden food hall that had a green/leafy theme
Loved loved loved the birria beef tacos!! Don't get anything else but this, trust me!
The churros were also really great in texture and tasted like cinnamon hearts though.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cass S.Sherwood Park, AB05Jun 12, 2023
Great food. Friendly. Loved the ambience when office people all come in to dine. Pickup a glass of wine or cocktail in the same market space.

So found this place in Chinatown today. Totally obscure location but the service was ultra friendly and the food was incredible!!! I had 4 tacos- yeah don't judge me . Lengua (tongue), chicharron prensado (pork shoulder), chorizo potato, and beef. Each had ample meat with its own unique characteristics.
I am not a huge chorizo fan but this had me in love at first bite! They make their own chorizo with meat sourced from a farm a few hours outside Calgary. My 2nd fave is a tie between the lengua and the chicharron.
Once you order at the counter, grab a seat and they'll bring your food or call your name for pickup. There is a salsa bar and you can choose from many toppings such as white onion, cilantro, sour cream, mild or spicy salsa, cheese, etc. I love that you dress your own taco. They offer typical cholula hot sauce at each table too.
John, the owner, said they've been open a month and they have a brisk business at noon hour to serve the office crowd and are busy on the weekends too. I arrived at 11am so watched as the line-up began to form. This place is a gem if you can find it!!! I seriously want to go there again later this week and may bring the entire family!
The decor is clean, quirky and comfortable. You can tell the employees like working there as they're laughing and joking in the tiny kitchen. Be sure to check it out. We owe it to our tummies and the economy to support local businesses and help them grow and thrive in our beautiful city!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Tagen S.Blackie, AB02Aug 16, 2022
Awesome little restaurant! We visited their 1st street market location (Chinatown location is closed currently) and ordered the birria tacos. The tacos were fabulous and they really load them up with meat. 2 tacos is plenty for a meal and only around $6 each. Would really recommend!

Five stars for the food and the service. Young lady who took my order was friendly and informative about their food. Called the place a "Taco Speakeasy" and it's a great description. It's in a little mall deep in Chinatown.
Saying the tacos are overstuffed is an understatement. Tuesdays and Wednesdays birria tacos are available. Lengua and green chorizo also sometimes on the menu.
Eat here!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Vin D.Southwest Calgary, Calgary, AB1107Aug 4, 2022
It's was ok but not amazing. Had 3 tacos...beef good, pork dry, mushroom poor. Was really looking forward to the mushroom one so was muy triste.

They sent the left overs , a piece of fat chunk in 2 of the meats. It was my birthday so I was very disappointed.
If you are going to order delivery ask them to not send FAT left oversHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1043381456Nov 21, 2020
This is a hidden true Mexican restaurant in the middle of Chinatown. Sheer genius when it comes to daring and bold. The staff are simply amazing; so helpful and pleasant to deal with. But the food...magnificently delicious. The restaurant is small but has a certain cantina type atmosphere. The tacos are true Mexican tacos small but filling the flavours...simply delicious. A true sign of quality is not quantity but how satisfied are you at the end of the meal. This is one to track down if you are in the mood for Mexican.

Kick ass Mexican food in Chinatown! Don't know how Moose and Poncho got even better during the pandemic, but they did. The tacos are packed with so much meat and succulent flavours. Salsas are extraordinary in terms of complex flavouring. I'm actually at a loss for words to describe the deliciousness.
Make sure you order the churros. Cooked to order, nice and munchy on the outside and soft and cake-like on the inside. Not too sweet either, so you can eat even more.
$40 for six tacos, one coke, one order of churros, and a couple extra sides of sauce. Worth every nickel. This is quality over quantity. I think there's a discount if you go online and order pick-up instead of dining in. Not sure if that has changed.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
