So, I've been coming here for many years and really enjoyed their homemade savoury baked goods and the selection of smoked ribs and chicken for easy dinners. Honestly, the woman who made those is amazing.
However, I'm not sure, but I think there's been a recent change in ownership (August 2023??), so I cannot comment on whether the current fresh food offerings are the same calibre. But, they've reorganized the layout a bit, and they're definitely more focused on Eastern European offerings with lots of frozen, fresh and shelf stable options.
I was very happy to see that they still have the same vacuum sealed smoked chicken and ribs, and they seem to have a wider assortment of frozen pierogies and pelmeni than typically available in grocery stores.
Hopefully the woman with the magical savoury baked goods is still there to make her delectable items!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 28, 2017
The owner makes me feel like I'm family and all I wanted was 2 cabbage rolls! They clearly make everything from scratch and it makes me feel like I've gotten a home cooked meal in a Styrofoam container.
As soon as I got home I dug into this meaty parcel filled with so much mince meat that I felt that there wasn't enough sauce for the second roll.
This tiny little deli carries so much exotic European stuff that there isn't a lot of seating but definitely worth the peek if you want cold cuts, pickles, cheese etc.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nachiket P.Vancouver, BC311181729Apr 12, 2015
Small family run European cafe cum grocery store on Burrard st just off Davie. The cafe is very reasonable and you get a good bang for your buck. The sandwiches are cheap and the portions are generous. I like the breakfast sandwiches, The Ukrainian burger and the sausage sandwich. The couple who run this place are very friendly. The also have a wide selection of sausages, cold cuts & Cheese. They are open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays and they close at 5pm on weekends.

This is an interesting little hybrid of Eastern European and Brazilian. In the prepped food section you can find anything from Brazilian coxhinas to cabbage rolls.
Mostly European stuff in the deli case, Brazilian stuff in the freezer, and a mixture lining the walls.
I came out buying 10% cottage cheese, Ukrainian sausage, guarana concentrate and some amazing Dadu cheesecake ice cream bars from Lithuania.
What a haul!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Marc D.Vancouver, BC161513761846Jan 17, 2013
* Tempting *
I had time for a very quick lunch and was passing by what looked like a fairly typical deli. I popped in for a quick sandwich, but was almost distracted by the more comprehensive menu which included treats like cabbage rolls, schnitzel, goulash, and perogies. Damn, if I only had time!
In any case, I grabbed a quick mortadella triple decker sandwich on wheat for a very reasonable $3.50 (tax included!). It hit the spot for a quick bite with very fresh (yet commercial) bread, fresh veggies, and a reasonable amount of mortadella. Satisfying quick snack: http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/maple-leaf-delicatessen-vancouver?select=MohyQTSXVwtMA8JPaNYvYg#mL6AbUiWUGvJnfZKiGMY3A
But I'll definitely be back with more time to spend to try the Eastern European specialties they also offer for those with a bit more time. Can't wait to try!Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 16Oh no 0 - Lara C.Long Beach, United States4441Sep 5, 2017
Actually, I have a question: do you guys have Brazilian "Cuscuz"/ Flocos de Milho? It is a typical Northeastern food from Brazil.
Looks like a Corn Flour, similar to Couscous
If someone see this product there, can you please let me know. I will be in Vancouver this Sunday. Thank you!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Shashwat S.San Francisco, United States02Dec 20, 2020
A pretty nice place to sit and have sandwiches and coffee. They offer a bunch of smoked meats and cheeses and their smoked sausage sandwich is one of the better ones I've had.

This I one of my favourite little delis, home made European dishes such as cabbage rolls , perogies , borsch also fresh sandwiches made on fresh buns or bread , when I'm in the mood to take out for lunch or dinner this is a healthy delicious choice of mine for sure. I will be sure to take some good photos next time I go, not to mention the friendly service from all the staff and owners . Ps did I mention the amazing lean fresh cabbage rolls

Came here to pick up some items for a meat and cheese board. I bought the prosciutto (150mg), German salami (150mg), brie (block), smoked gouda (100mg), a box of red olives from Italy, a box of pickled red vegetables (100mg only $1.50), and a jar of artichoke hearts - all for $38, not bad at all. Everything was delicious and made for the perfect meat and cheese board. Reasonably priced and a great selection of cured meats (not the biggest selection of cheeses though.)
