Things have changed with Maize - I used their products and services on multiple properties over the past 20 years.

However, most recently, on my parents' new house, after multiple calls and emails, owner refused to remedy poor quality and incomplete work. I paid for incomplete service and product that had to be removed and redone by another contractor.

I would recommend using this company if you want to have a lot of your time wasted. This company has a problem with internal communications no concept of customer service.

We agreed that the work would be done on a certain day and was told that the company works all year long. I arranged to work at home. It snowed that day. When no one showed up, I finally called the office at 11am and was told that "no one is working today". I asked if they had considered telling their customers of that fact and was told that the rep who booked the work should have called me.

Over the following week or so, I had to call in EACH morning (sometimes twice) to find out if the crew would be working that day. Finally, after week of doing this, I was successful in getting Maize to agree to come that day and arranged to be home from work. As I had a meeting at 1pm I asked that the work be done first thing in the morning. I was assured that I was the first job and that the crew would show up at 8 or 8:30. I called at 9:45 as they had not shown up. I was told that the office manager would phone them to find out what was happening. She didn't. I phoned later still and the office manager finally called the crew only to learn that they were finishing a job in a nearby neighbourhood.

I asked both the officer manager and the rep to factor in my time wasted and aggravation when preparing my bill. They did not.

Stay away from Maize Eavestroughing if you have a metal roof.

Our metal roof had perfectly functioning and in perfect condition Eavestroughing along with a Gutter Helmet, which is a very important part of the Eavestroughing on a metal roof. We loved them and for the past 6 years they were doing an excellent job for the house. After winter we had to deal with a little piece of metal in the corners of the roof which was compressed from moving show. When it rained, the water from the corners was running too fast and sometimes missed the gutters. I called Maize Eavestroughing in August 2012 for a consultation on how to improve this situation, and the sales person advised us that the only way to improve the situation quickly and easily was to change the whole Eavestroughing from 5" to 6". Being no expert on Eavestroughing, I did not question their recommendation and agreed to this improvement as I was promised to have an excellent resolution at quite reasonable price of $1,500.00. Little did I know at that time, that instead of the improvement I was promised, Maize was creating a huge problem for me.

After the first installation it was evident and easily visible that the Eavestroughing was installed without accurate measurement -the difference between beginning and the end of the Eavestroughing was a whole foot - 12 inches in total. The difference between the other two symmetrical pieces of the Eavestroughing was over 1.5 foot. The corners of the Eavestroughing were glued to the house with white caulking as well as the corners themselves because the screws were inserted improperly. The leaf guard was composed out of 17 different pieces from different brands and different width sizes.

The biggest shock for us was missing the 70 feet Gutter Helmet for the Eavestroughing. The company removed our Gutter Helmet that had been pre-installed by another company without our permission, and removed it from our property. This piece is very important for any metal roof to protect the Eavestroughing from ice and snow and is more expensive than the Maize's "improvement" itself. Maize refused to return it. Of course, their new system was completely destroyed during the winter and company did not reply to my calls and emails until I filed out a complaint with BBB against them. They came back 12 month later to fix the part of the problem, but refused to return my Gutter Helmet and demanded extra $2,000.00 if I want to install it back.

According to our calculation the price of the "improvement" with Maize, which is not an improvement at all in our case according to a home inspector, installation of old Eavestroughing and installation of the Gutter Helmet, taken by Maize is totaling of $7,000.00 for 60 feet if we will bring back our Eavestroughing to the previous condition. Maize misled us completely by its incompetence and at that point we can see only one solution to this problem - taking legal actions against Maize Eavestroughing.
