Was craving for a japanese food, since, we were at the mall. Tried this as an easy fix. I got what I was looking for, I ordered for a special bento box, costing $9.5 all in. The maki looks large than usual, the veggie tempura were very much coated with orange flour, the inner portions are not even cooked, the shrimp tempura looks okay, the pineapple chicken too. However, I was as if looking for the all their taste. Its as if I can see the food, but, I am not tasting anything, aside from the pineapple chicken that has taste, but, not as pineapple chicken.
The cashier did not even give me my change, after I had given her my cash of $10. I know, it is not much. However, she should have given me my change. I know the store has, coz, I saw their cash box and transactions before me. She did not even gave me my receipt, which I forgot already too. She just handed me soy sauce, chopsticks and table napkins after I paid.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Dec 17, 2016
I'm not too sure if my tastebuds have just become more seLective or if LittLe Tokyo's food is just simpLy garbage.
I used to enjoy coming here strictLy for their Teriyaki Chicken Rice BowL but they can't seem to do that right anymore.....
The portions are skimp, there seems to an increase in chicken chunks consisting of fatty tissue, and the sauce just tastes FUNKY.
I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt and assumed LittLe Tokyo was just having a bad day but this being the THIRD visit and each time I'm Left Leaving disappointed, I'm just gonna caLL it a Loss.
No I wouLdn't recommend coming here. This is NOT the pLace for anyone who has working tastebuds.
Do yourseLf a favor and waLk a LittLe further to Cajun GriLL or SoraboL Korean food.Helpful 10Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - 394489638Feb 18, 2018
Pineapple chicken was fine as a sample, but very inconsistent texture once ordered.
The fried rice was flavorless and barely warm, and the noodles were so flavorless and gross that all 3 of us trashed it because we couldn't eat it (I realize this is fast food, but really...how do you mess up noodles!)
Even if the sample seems good, don't trust your gut feeling with this oneHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rogelio Q.San Jose, United States2075333Dec 23, 2015
I decided to get in line to order an original flavor ramen and 6 pieces of "orange" sushi. The total came out to be $12ish. Not worth it at all
The ramen came out fast from the kitchen, the cashier grabbed the ramen and poured the broth over it from one of the pot.
The sushi was really bland and bad. Not fresh for sure. Worst sushi I have ever tried.
The ramen tasted weird. It just reminds me of what sewage water would taste like. Someone on another review compared the flavor to dishwater. I can't agree more it was a rotten bitter random flavor. Please skip the ramen. Maybe the fried rice or something else would have tasted better. I would think twice before coming back though.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - S P.Pleasanton, United States14046136Nov 21, 2016
Very disappointed. Please stay away from this place as it is similar to other Chinese and Thai in great mall and even the food doesn't look appealing as bad as it tastes.
It's a scary Tokyo food .
Be cautious and stay away .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bryan W.Santa Clara, United States139613023838Dec 19, 2016
Oh god, you have got to be kidding me...
My friend and I were at Great Mall looking at the lack of restaurants inside the shopping center. It was very difficult for us to decide what we wanted to eat, with only a few options such as Little Tokyo, Charley's Grilled Subs, and ... McDonalds. I decided to give Little Tokyo a chance because the prices were cheap, very cheap.
And by cheap, I am referring to both meanings. First off, let's start by saying that paying ~$7 for ramen is very inexpensive. I honestly didn't expect much out of it but at least it could look somewhat like the picture on the menu right?
Wrong! The ramen was unfortunately very poor. The soup was probably just chicken broth that was heated up. The pork katsu that was in the soup was okay and edible, but surprisingly fatty. The egg tasted like it had been lying around for weeks. And the noodles themselves, I couldn't finish them.
tl;dr if you are looking for fast food, I'd pass on Little Tokyo. Maybe the sushi would be okay, but definitely avoid the ramen. After trying it, I wasn't sure if their ramen was better or cup noodles...

What a joke! I ordered their vegetable 6 piece sushi for $4.99 and they were ubber small and served on a plastic bowl lid???? No tray just my food on a lid. I asked for soy sauce and that had no flavor. I asked how much a side of white rice is, they said $2.15 for white rice. Should be like $1.
I'm just not digging food court prices and the quality of the food.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Peter N.San Jose, United States1636223Dec 23, 2015
Bad food even for mall food standards. I'm not sure about their other dishes, but we had the ramen and California roll and wasted 13 bucks. Ramen noodles were funky, and not really ramen type noodles. The broth tasted like watered down mushroom broth. The chashu was not that great either, but probably the only thing in the ramen that had flavor. Overall the ramen can be best described as monotoned and bland in flavor.
The California roll was probably the worst sushi I have ever eaten. I don't know what play-doh tastes like, but I would imagine it tasted like this. The rice was like solid like rice that has been smashed and refrigerated for an extended period of time. The fake crab meat was tasteless and avocado was mushy. We finally added soy sauce to it and it was still gross.
Unfortunately I will not be ordering the two items agian. Ever. I may give them another chance for something else, but I need to give my stomach a rest from the disgusting food we just had.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Stanley C.Santa Clara, United States9007083449Sep 25, 2013
LITTLE TOKYO
As far as mall food courts go, Little Tokyo blends in well with the well-regarded stereotype of typically bland stale mall foods. I ordered the pineapple chicken bowl, and sadly, it wasn't very good. It comes with steamed veggies, but eaten together, with the chicken, it was passable. Nothing special. Had better stir-fried chicken dishes at mall food courts. For some reason, the samples they hand out always seem to taste better than when you order it :-(Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sep 5, 2013
I ordered the chicken bento box from here. You get 3 pcs of sushi, tempura, rice and chicken. Portions are huge. However the food was not really good. The chicken and rice was ok. The Kid thought the sushi was ok. The tempura was worse. How could you make stale tempura? They didn't even use traditional batter. The batter was thick and soggy. The broccoli tempura was pretty bad. It appears that they precooked the broccoli and then fried it because it was a mushy green blob.
They are owned by China Max. I found that out when I paid with a credit card and the cashier went next door to run it.
Worse Japanese food ever!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
