We order a lot from Kim An! Always Subs and sometimes spring rolls. We decided to add salad rolls this time to our order and we were extremely disappointed!! The sub and spring rolls were great as always but I couldn't believe the salad rolls.
They were 'chicken' salad rolls and inside them they had two small thin pieces of dry chicken and lettuce that's it! I honestly couldn't eat it dry and zero flavour.
I love there subs still but very disappointed tonight in the quality of salad rolls.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1043381456Feb 25, 2021Updated review
Ordered the Lemongrass BBQ Chicken Sub and it was delicious. The location is very clean and the staff are friendly. The service is very quick. Did not have to wait and needed this for a snack. Pretty good meal for just over $11. I have ordered from here in the past and I have never been disappointed. Looking forward to eating here again.

The meal was delicious and very filling. The service was friendly and fast. Had our entire order delivered in 25 minutes. Came with extra cutlery, eating accessories and the meal was very hot. This was my first time trying a Vietnamese sub. It was delicious.
I would definitely order from here again! - Rob H.Southwest Calgary, Calgary, AB79122151Feb 23, 2020
Kim Anh is favorite place on 17th ave for Vietnamese subs. I probably prefer the bowls at Thai Tai a little more than here but when it comes to the subs there is absolutely no competition.
On my last order I had the Special Kim Anh sub, the Lemongrass and Chilli Chicken entree, and the Chicken Satay entree. The Sub and Chilli Chicken were both fantastic but the Chicken Satay was a tad bland comparatively.
I've had a lot of other things on the menu and the majority of it is just average so it's obvious that what this place does well is submarines.....which is not a surprise considering it's in the name of the restaurant. This place will always be a go-to for my banh mi cravings.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sydney W.Calgary, AB01Apr 26, 2021
*Food Safety*
Ordered from Doordash and and decent hopes since reviews in both places were good, however, my soup had many tiny little bugs and even a dead tick at the bottom. I will be making a AHS complaint as this is a blatant violation of food safety.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Christine L.Calgary, AB2693892319Apr 10, 2020
I tried this place years ago and I didn't like it at all (chicken vermicelli with spring rolls, salad rolls) . Last night I ordered via Skip what John M recommends - lemongrass beef banh mi. The bread was crispy, filled with still hot, saucy beef and cold, crunchy marinated vegetables. I could taste the pate intermingled with the cheese and sauce. Flavour bomb!
I find that when I normally order from Skip, the portions are smaller than pickup. This was not the case at Kim Anh. I'd order here again. I hear the Korean pork sub is delicious as well.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Susy K.Calgary, AB1162122Jan 5, 2021
My husband and I really like bahn mi. So we recently ordered the lemongrass chili chicken and pork bbq sandwiches. We like it because it came with very fresh veggies and a crunchy bread. However, we do prefer savory sandwiches, not sweet ones. Maybe next time we will try their deli meat sandwich instead. But for those that like slightly sweet meats this is good overall.

Once upon a time, Kim Anh had excellent Vietnamese chicken curry, and they stopped carrying that years ago, and I'm still sad about it. BUT the subs are fantastic, so there's that. I always get the beef with lemongrass and chili, and please say "yes" when the nice lady behind the counter asks if you want cheese. I find customer after customer turns down the cheese. It's not...cheese like you would find on a burger. It's more a strip of richness that wakes the whole sandwich up, like the mayo that is an absolute must on a banh mi. Also, for the love of God, say "yes" to jalapeños.
The bubble tea here is really good- it's not the glory that is Presotea but it's not just a bubble tea place, but I get the green tea with passionfruit syrup and it's refreshing, not overly sweet and just really really good.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Victoria V.Silver Springs, Calgary, AB4593Jan 16, 2020
I have been ordering subs from Kim Anh for years, close to 10 now. By far my favourite place! Great options, great people. The tofu sub is a great choice for all the vegetarian/vegan eaters in 17th.

It was a Saturday night just before midnight and I was in around the 17th avenue area. I was actually headed home when I figured I should get something to eat - in all honesty, I was craving fried chicken but when I drove by Kimanh, I thought it would be a 'healthier' choice ;)
I know someone who raves about Kimanh and said that they have the best Vietnamese subs so I went in for a late night bite. It was pretty quiet at that hour and I ordered some spring rolls (sooo healthy haha) and a satay beef sub. The lady asked if I wanted any cheese and without hesitation I said yes (was being extra healthy that night). It didn't take long for them to prepare my order and I took it to-go. An order of spring rolls has four and it came with a side of fish sauce for dipping. I love spring rolls with plum so I asked for a couple. I couldn't wait , so on my drive home I snacked on the spring rolls and they were delicious! Super crispy with a generous meat filling, even better with plum sauce on top!
The satay beef sub was good - toasted bread, sautéed beef, cilantro, onions, carrots, cucumber and cheese. I found that there was too much of a bread to meat ratio and that the meat was chewier than other beef satay subs I've had. Flavor was good but just some misses with the rest of the sub.
Overall, I'd say Kimanh is a place to hit up when its late at night and you're hungry. Spring rolls are dope! Though, I definitely have had better satay beef subs - if you're looking for a reeeeeeeally amazing satay beef sub, The Bake Chef Co. in the University of Calgary is the place to go!!!!!!!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
