we used to patronize jinya for happy hour frequently, before covid, but not sure why we don't go more often. i have a soft spot for their lychee-tinis. to be honest though, i'm not a fan of ramen, but with their 7 year anniversary promo, we took this as a sign to revisit jinya for lunch. we showed up approx 30 minutes after opening on wednesday and there was already a steady line up outside, but the wait wasn't too bad, maybe 5 to 10 minutes.
the place was bustling with energy, and the service was professional, efficient, and friendly.
we both had the bowl of jinya tonkotsu black,
pork broth; pork chashu, kikurage, green onion, nori dried seaweed, seasoned egg, garlic chips, garlic oil, fried onion and spicy sauce. i liked the thin noodles, it had a nice texture and chew, and i enjoyed the flavourful, rich, hearty broth. the egg was overcooked for my liking, i prefer a more jammy yolk consistency that slowly oozes when pierced. i found the broth to be a tad salty, but it was a satisfying bowl of ramen at only $10.
while we slurped our noodles, we noticed the queue outside wrapped around the corner from robson to richards, indicating jinya's popularity. wishing you a very happy 7th anniversary. your journey so far has been truly remarkable. may your future be filled with even more success and growth, kanpai!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 20, 2024
Just got to Vancouver and was looking for our first spot to eat. JINYA fit the bill. Was seated right away, friendly host and servers.
We were hungry and ordered quite a bit: Impossible Bun, Impossible Gyoza, Flying Vegan Harvest + Egg, Spicy Chicken Ramen + Egg, Lycheetinis, Suntory Toki Highballs, Mochi Green Tea, and Panna Cotta.
Everything was really good, some of the vegan/impossible stuff was a bit on the saltier side, but still good. Drinks were good, but on the lighter side (like a bud light). We had 2 drinks each and didn't feel anything.
The panna cotta is a MUST try. It was a great balance of flavor and richness. Mochi ice cream is like what you'd buy at the store.
I'd give it a 4.5*.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laura L.Vancouver, BC2224Mar 31, 2024
The cactus of ramen. What was once a cute, busy little hole in the wall on Robson (closer to Beatty) is now a trendy, expensive, flashy ramen joint with an expansive menu.
I lived around the corner from the old location for a couple years and loved it. Food was quick, tasty with a limited specialized menu. Now they have a giant menu and food that is hit/miss. There are definitely better Ramen joints to visit in the downtown area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 139298202Jan 5, 2024
This is solid ramen. The noodles are very good and chewy, they have three kinds. The place is busy, the interior tables and the exterior with high top chairs on a counter. Quick and expedited service, with one kids meal that seemed like too much food; so we just split one chicken ramen down the middle:
Would come back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 9, 2024
Been to JINYA a couple times and always satisfied with my experience. The service is quick and friendly and the food consistent in quality. I get the Tonkotsu Black every time and enjoy it! The meat is tender and flavorful and the broth is rich with a kick of spice. I've also had the Chicken Ramen and Tempura Brussel Sprouts before in the past, which are also delicious options. While it's not the most authentic bowl of ramen you can find in Vancouver, I still enjoy it nonetheless.

We went for happy hour and tried the Lycheetini which was delicious and well priced. I got the vegan red fire opal which had great flavor and toppings, I only wish it had more bamboo in it. Also tried the spicy creamy vegan ramen which was very rich and uniquely seasoned.
The service was great, our server was happy to chat and gave us many recommendations of things to do in the area. Will definitely return!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 10, 2023
Sat at the bar for a table of one! If you're coming with a larger party you'll be waiting a bit for a table as it's a popular spot!
I ordered the Spicy Creamy Vegan Ramen and it really hit the spot! It's so creamy and flavorful, you can't tell it's vegan!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 16206306Sep 5, 2023
I really enjoyed the food and experience overall at this restaurant. They do give you a time limit for the seating but there wasn't a wait when we went in.
The inside is very aesthetically pleasing and they gave us great service. We both ordered the ramen of our choice and you can add any other topping for an additional cost. We had gone swimming previous to this so the ramen hit the spot!
I ordered the spicy umami miso ramen and it was delicious.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0 - Aug 23, 2023
I so appreciate the strong influence of Asian restaurants in Vancouver, especially Japanese.
In randomly coming across Jinya, I found they are a chain and have many location across the U.S. Not knowing of them, this location does have exceptional food.
The wait staff is wonderful, very attentive, friendly, and helpful. They let you know up front that they do not accept cash. The waiter carefully explained the menu and asked repeatedly, with sincere concern, if we had any food allergies.
I had to try the ramen, but I was also tempted by the Jinya bun. So we ordered two. They were superb, a real highlight! The bun was so tasty, soft, and a puff of goodness. Perfectly made and stuffed with tender pork and wonderfully delicious. Do not miss it, and it is pointed out on the menu as a specialty.
My entree was the Creamy Spicy Vegan Ramen. YUM! I am a carnivore and definitely not vegan, but this dish is superb. Full of spinach, tofu, and other fresh ingredients, the best is the broth, indeed a milky creamy consistency and unique, plus the fabulous noodles! Give me just a bowl of the noodles, and I'd be happy.
I like extra spicy, asked, and they did it exactly to my level of tolerance.
It's good to note that you can customize the ramen in dozens of ways to your liking.
My better half tried the Tokyo Curry Rice, and greatly enjoyed it. Trying a bit, the curry also has a very unique flavor. The rice was to the side along with some greens.
We each washed it down with Sopporo beer that came very refreshingly cold.
It was such a beautiful evening that we ate outside at their sidewalk side seating, which was quite comfortable and offered an opportunity to watch the passing crowd.
The place was very busy, yet we were not rushed and encouraged to linger.
This is a top-notch establishment, well run, great food, and good atmosphere.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 0 - Sep 4, 2023
I came to Vancouver BC for business trip and came to Jinya ramen bar to try some food by myself. I looked menus and tried chef's special Karaage chicken ramen and garlic shrimp spring rolls. First, garlic shrimp spring rolls are really strong garlicky and shrimp taste! I liked it.
Karaage chicken ramen is no bad but I think I like more chashu or original jinya ramen. Service and atmosphere are very nice! I will be back and try some more.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0
