In Ting Beauty Shop

I found this woman online, I spoke to her on the phone and I booked an appointment. I was so disappointed, she is expensive, the service was poor, and I would never go back to her salon. Unfortunately, there isn't too many Black hair salon in Ottawa. I've hear a Nigerian woman on St-Laurent boulevard call Cece, the worst black business in town not only she's rude, she would charge you an arm, and a leg for a poor service. After reading all the reviews I said to myself no way.

I have natural hair and I wanted to get my hair blow dried and flat ironned for a wedding I was going to while I was in Ottawa. I called on Friday and got a 10am Saturday appointment. I had an appt with Janice. When I asked her what products she used she freely told me, unlike some other salons that I have gone to. She even gave me a tip on an avacado mixture I could use to deep condition my hair and when she detangled my hair she used a wide tooth comb and gently combed out the tangles in my hair. She quickly blow dried my hair, gave me a trim, and then meticulously flat ironned my hair. She even told me how to blow dry my own hair so that I don't have to always pay a hairdresser.

The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that I felt she used a little too much product in my hair when she was flat ironning my hair and I felt that my hair was a little greasy.

I will have to say that if you book an appointment try to book it early in the morning because by the time I left, there was at least 3 people waiting for an appointment. Of course, there was another hairdresser at the salon, so they may not have all been waiting for Janice.

I loved the fact that my whole appointment only took 1 1/2 hours and it only cost me $55 and I have thick medium length hair. There was ample free street parking on the Saturday that I went.

I would definitely go back when I am in town.

I found Janice online and booked an app as we were coming to Ottawa from Winnipeg for a wedding Aug 2016. My daughter is mixed and I'm the white part of the occasion. My daughter wanted her hair big and natural. I didn't know what to call it as we dont have much experience with mixed/black hair salons. So it turns out big and natural equated to 23 mins of work on Janice's part. She washed, combed, and blew out my daughter hair. Thats it. Don't get me wrong it looked great but where I have a huge problem is what she charged me... $45 bucks! So if your white don't bring your child to her. You will get ripped off. But if your black don't worry you good. All this was confirmed when I told family and friends here about the story cause three of them knew her from her time at Lola's in Winnipeg..
