It was so nice me and my partner went service was good, food was good. The seats were actually so amazing I felt like we could just sleep in them. The food was delicious, would recommend for a date night or even during the day a business meeting.

The ambiance of this place is cool, dark, mysterious...reminds me of an old school cigar lounge almost. . All things I'm looking for when I pretending I'm cool, dark and mysterious lol.
The service from front door to bar to tables is high class. Everyone is friendly.
I've been here twice but always sat at the bar , which is quite large and very nice. They do a happy hour menu daily, which is great bc most places are weekdays only ( I went on a Saturday). They have daily happy hour drinks so it's a nice surprise each time.
There is a small happy hour menu - we got prime rib sliders (3) and potted beef Yorkshire pudding (3). Personally didn't care for either. I think I'd just stick to drinks and enjoy the atmosphere next time .Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Alexander B.Orangeville, ON35319Jan 23, 2024
We decided to do a date night at this icon steak house on Bay in TO and it was everything we expected. The wait staff were attentive and polite, i appreciate the old school butcher coats as the uniform, it makes the outing feel special.
For being an older steakhouse in the city the restaurant has been modernized and adorned very well, there's a ton of space but it still feels warm and cozy. There is a richness to the atmosphere that is not insistent upon itself.
We had the table side Caesar, Oysters, Cheese and cheese toast to start. Very well done, the cheese bread is iconic, just order it and stop being a dork.
We had the 20 ounce bone in rib steak for the main with fries and a French onion soup. First I'll say that a great French onion soup is hard to come by, but this might be one of the best French Onion soups I've ever had, no joke. My wife is not a big eater so there was more than enough for me to enjoy.
I detest grilled pepper on my steak, it reads as bitterness to me and tends to give the meat an acrid flavor. Hy's fired your streak exactly as you want. Salted well, Chicago style, medium rare......and that's exactly what I got. It was one of the best steaks I've had at a restaurant. Keep your A5 Wagyu, I'll have this steak for days.
We added a bottle of the Buehler to the table and finished with their icon Bananas Foster which is a little over the top but fun and delicious.
Will be back here sometime soon.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rizvee H.Scarborough, Toronto, ON54270Nov 22, 2023
First of all love the atmosphere inside. It's decorated really well. Very modern and classy at the same time. Our table was upstairs overlooking main dining area. Which gave us a great view of the live performances going on during that time.
We ordered seared scallops for appetizer. Although it tasted good, I think it was over priced for what we got.
For main we had beef wellington and steak. Steak was cooked to perfection and tasting amazing, beef wellington although it tasted good but puff pastry was rather soggy by the time it arrived on our table. For dessert we had creme brulee which was excellent. Also the service was excellent. Our server was very nice and constantly check up on us throughout the night. We really enjoyed our time here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 6, 2024
This is our second time here. Food is good. I found the mushroom too salty. Mash potato is creamy but needed butter and maybe some additional seasoning. Service is good. One negative comment and why I rated this experience as 3/5. We told our server, Jacob, that we are celebrating our friend's 60th bday. We ordered all this food, plus several drinks throughout the night, including dessert, banana special. He brought out an empty plate with a candle. We asked why it's empty. He said Hy's doesn't give cake or dessert for free. This was a crazy excuse. For a high end restaurant where clients are spending a few hundred dollars on dinner and the establishment can't give a tiny piece of cake for a bday celebrant?? We can afford to pay for it and that's not the issue. We've been to many other fine dining restaurants and not too expensive, restaurants and all have given complimentary dessert to the bday celebrant. We didn't expect it but you shouldn't bring out an empty plate with the words happy birthday. Better to not bring it out at all. Hy's need to reconsider their policy.

Stopped in for a quick drink before dinner on a Saturday at around 6:15. Unfortunately, we had just missed happy hour, which ended at 6. Hubby and I each ordered a cocktail, which is pretty pricy at $19 a pop. But it's comparable to NYC cocktail prices. Plus, it's a steakhouse - so you're also paying for the ambiance. I had the Setting Sun (Suntory 'Toki' whiskey, Cointreau, orange bitters, lemon juice), which was a bit too sweet for my taste. I'm not sure if the cocktails are worth its full price, but maybe for a happy hour price, they would be. If I lived in Toronto, I would probably come back at HH, especially since they have 30% off select food. Someone nearby had ordered the cheese toast, which looked good but we had to save our stomachs for dinner. Maybe next time!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Lisa L.New York, United States281257Apr 24, 2024
We couldn't get into the place we wanted so found this place. This is a high end steakhouse. Prices were high even by NY standards. We walked in on a Tuesday night at 5:00pm. Crowd was definitely picking up. We got a nice booth on the second floor. We ordered Berkshire pork chop, scallop and shrimp and what we were told was artic char, fish of the day. Waiter came back and said it was not artic char but halibut. The Berkshire pork was juicy and cook through. Gravy and carrots nicely tender and not salty. Mash potatoes were creamy. The scallops were cooked perfectly. They were just cooked while the shrimp were over cooked a little. The basmati rice it came with was very salty. With the gravy it was close to inedible. Luckily I had them give me the sauce on the side. Halibut was cooked well. It was on top of an arancini. With the exception of the rice, everything was good. Not wonderful where I would rave about. It was very overpriced.

I had made reservations for 10 for private diving for my birthday in June.
I really appreciated how quickly we were seated, and the accommodations made for separate bills between the groups of people that were there.
I appreciate even more that they allowed my friend to bring cupcakes that met my dietary restrictions so we could celebrate.
We had a Caesar to share at the table, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, and steak of our own. One of my guys had the chicken dish and the other had the seafood dishes they didn't eat steak and they were happy with the size and portion.
I'm grateful for the hospitality that I received on my birthdayHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Matthew M.Downtown Detroit, Detroit, United States09Apr 24, 2024
Here's the thing. Its a pretty decent restaurant for the price. We went for my brother's bachelor party, and were a large group. About 8.The ambiance of the restaurant is perennially nice and warm. However, there was a very clear hierarchy in terms of the level of care demonstrated. There were a bunch of NHL players who were who received far more attention, and on occasion we were left waiting for service. The food itself was good, but not great. Some of our steaks were closer to near well done than mid-rare, which isn't great when you're dropping this kind of money. It was also somewhat disappointing they never made any effort to make the bachelor feel particularly special, despite our request. Overall nice steakhouse but the sheen is off a bit.

Came here before watching Hamilton at Princess of Wales Theatre (just a 15 walk away)! It was my first time there. My friend and I were pleased with our first experience!
Well staffed right at the door with several hostesses ready to take your coat and bag to coat check, and bring you into the dining room. The large dining space has a traditional gentleman's lounge feel with dark wood interior, dim lighting, book shelves everywhere, and plush seating of different heights. Washrooms and private dining rooms are located downstairs - which are accessible by stairs and elevator.
Food-wise, we split a 20oz bone-in ribeye steak with fries, keylime pie, bourbon chocolate cake and a decaf coffee. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare - super juice, marbled and tender, with a beautiful char on its exterior. The fries was chunky and crispy. Lightly seasoned which I enjoyed. The bourbon was surprisingly good in the chocolate cake! It was strong, but works very well. I'm a big fan of keylime pie though, so that was my favourite dessert of the night.
Would return to try other things on the menu! Price is more expensive. So it's only a special occasion place for me. Nice to come for a treat once in a while!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
