I stayed at this hotel last night.
The staff at the front desk are friendly and helpful.
My room was nice ... nothing special but comfy. I had a king bed, a couch and a desk.
WIFI is free and is fairly quick. Parking is free.
I ate at the restaurant last night and it was good ... reasonably priced and good portions.
My only complaint is that it's not very quiet. I can hear every thing that happens in the hallway ... talking, sneezing, doors closing, suitcases being dragged, etc.
This is minor but the curtain on the window didn''t close all the way. The street light was coming through the edge last night and reflecting off the mirror on the wall which reflected onto the bed. So I had to make sure I didn't sleep in that spot and have the light in my eyes.
All in all, I'd stay here again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I stayed at this hotel for one night for my buddy's birthday in Barrie. We tried to go to the hotel bar to have a few beers before going out. Lady at the bar refused to serve us. It turned into the biggest ordeal which left us all upset and leaving the hotel. I don't understand how someone who is staying in your hotel cannot have a beer at the bar. When we ordered she was gonna serve us and then just lost her mind and decided not to. To say the least, I will never stay in that place again. I have never had so much grief in any hotel ever before in my life.

Well then , very adventurous this old Holiday Inn on a busy street .
It took us forever to check in 20 odd rooms but that's ok , I changed from the group to my spire account and my status was not acknowledged not a word.
One washing machine and one dryer is not much for a large hotel like that.
They have an outside pool that is closed in April and an indoor pool that is kind of adjacent to the lobby and looks like an aquarium the attached fitness center is humid and small.
Everything is worn , but the worst is to get abound, I have no idea what handicap people do but I did not find an elevator that brings me to the second floor? Dragging the luggage up the steps is a pain.
The front desk people are friendly but on the slower side for sure.
Would rather not come backHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Patricia M.Toronto, ON117255Jun 3, 2015Updated review
Back again for work. This time was given a room in the "executive tower" and so far it's much better. A suite, fridge, microwave and complimentary bottled water. Way more convenient than the rooms on the outer ring.
My room is currently across the hall from the elevator, and so far it's pretty quiet.
So far, much better than last year.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Jun 8, 2014Previous reviewFor a $60 a night hotel it's great! Sadly, it's $120 a night. . . . So you decide. Our keys never worked! Stayed 4 days, every evening upon our return the keys didn't work (outside doors or indoors) everytime the front desk says " oh this key seems fine??. . . We have been having some trouble with our locks. . . . Are you sure you didn't put it with your cell phone? " so they seem to know there is an issue but would rather guests just come get a new key when ever they leave their rooms?? Which wouldn't be the worst thing if this hotel didn't have such a large footprint! Parking around back can net you a long walk if you can't get inside! I'd say look elsewhere, but this might be the best hotel in Barrie?!?!?!

Staff helpful. Would have been nice to have been given directions to our room from the inside at the check-in, rather than entering from the back of the hotel. Building is dated. Disappointed with the onsite restaurant. The Mandarin is next door. Security is questionable as room card was not required to enter the building from several locations contrary to posted signs. Bathroom floor towel/mat needs replacing, horribly stained. Overall, clean affordable overnight stay, nothing more.

very upset with my experience here. when I booked my room a month ago I spoke withal lady.. Alyssa. I was going with my sons hockey team but only wanted to spend one night rather then the two the team was staying. Alyssa advised me my rate would be higher but that she would see i got something extra if I booked with the hotel still. the extra we seemed to get was nothing. no fridge or microwave like everyone else on the team had. check in at 3? we arrived at 3:15 and our room wasn't' ready. the toilet in our room was clogged and the room was hot and muggy. the pool area was unbearably hot, my room key didn't work for the pool and had to be fought with for the room door to open and unprofessional excuses from staff was we seemed to get. I recommend going to any hotel BUT this one.

This is the typical holiday inn. Stayed here 2 nights and it was clean and all the staff were really friendly. I passed a few of the housekeeping staff in the hallways and every one of them said hello (and looked like they meant it!) The rooms were nice - however you can really hear everything going on in the hall - slamming of doors...people talking. A little annoying when you have late nights! The pillows are super soft..too soft for me...yeah I know - first world problems! The parking is free and there is a restaurant on site ( we didn't try it so I can't comment on it..however it looked pretty empty every time I passed by). The hotel is right off the highway so that is great and there is a timmies and a pizza hut and a Wendy's just up the road in case anyone gets the late night greasy burger and bad coffee craving! As previous reviewers have mentioned there seems to be an issue with the key cards deactivating and phones...this happened to 3 different people in our group. And since our rooms were waaaaaaaaaaaay on the other side of the hotel reception...it meant a 5 min trek (yes another first world problem) to the front to get it fixed. They should mention these cards are sensitive to phones...I've never had this issue with any other place! Apparently this is one of the higher end hotels in Barrie...scary!

Clean and quiet hotel. There was only one breakfast included with the rate we paid which was a little annoying. Limited selection of choices at breakfast too. We ordered room service though and it was really good! We had a burger and a chicken sandwich and liked it so much we had it two nights in a row.

Comfortable bed. Helpful staff. Property definitely showing its age. No elevator access to our 3rd floor room.
