Solid Hong Kong cafe that has kept very reasonable prices and good portion sizes. The flavours are very nostalgic and consistent and pretty tasty. They get busy so expect a short wait but the turnover is pretty quick. Service is fast and efficient.

Was in the area and wanted to try it out. It was surprisingly packed.
Food - 3/5 - it's ok. Price ranges from $6-8 for the breakfast menu. It was a little small. The broth was unseasoned. Their clientele are mostly seniors so it's not too surprising. There's salt and pepper on the side if you really want to add to your own test. We got an iced lemon tea (add $1.25) and hot hk milk tea. The drinks are quite standard.
Ambiance - 3/5 - small seating area,
Service - 3/5, sanitized quickly to move the flow of waiting guests. As usual Chinese places, you need to flag them down but they are relatively quick.
Overall: 3/5 - it's an ok place. Nothing wrong with it, nothing spectacular. By the way, it's a small plaza, so parking spaces are tight and limited.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 944158Apr 22, 2023
Definitely going to be one of my new go-to HK style cafe's. My boyfriend and I came here with his mom for lunch. It was cozy.
The prices couldn't be more reasonable. The food doesn't take long, but of course the quality isn't crazy amazing. But I guarantee you get the best bang for your buck.
They also have a selection of buns and cakes as well.
Lots of free parking outside. Seating is pretty limited though, I'd say great for a group of 4 or less. Servers are quick and friendly.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mar 11, 2023
Quite busy here today on a Saturday morning around 10 am for breakfast service. We ended being the third group in the door amongst four groups waiting, so it was about 10 mins or so before being seated.
Service is overall fast and friendly though. We were greeted upon entering, asked how many for our table, and seated as soon as we could be. We got checked in for ordering and served our food with a smile. (And later, thanked upon leaving!)
I ordered the BEEF BRISKET VERMICELLI, which is $8.99 now with their most recent price increase. There was a good helping of meat and noodles. Brisket was especially good today - not overly fatty but also not too lean that it gets stuck in the teeth. The broth was flavorful to pair, which is important, especially with vermicelli (since it doesn't really absorb) but beware, that's where the hidden calories are! My meal also came with a drink - so hot lemon tea it is.
During the meal, you can hear the constant hustle and bustle.
Cleanliness is average, not amazing. They also have in-house washrooms which I didn't visit today so I can't speak to them.
Parking is average but sometimes hard to find.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 7, 2022Updated review
HK Cafe | Dinner Review | Chinese Stir Fry
Their dinner menus seem to have changed. There used to be combos for 2 now it starts at combos for 4.
The combos also don't come with steamed fish if that's what you're craving for. You can order that on the side for $21 and it's great portion too.
Their food comes quite quick and generous too.
If you spend above a certain amount (I'm guessing $60) they give you chicken or sweet and sour pork for free.
Service mainly was good, just one server I wasn't too pleased with.
By 8:30pm they make sure you are reminded that they're closing in half an hour. The dessert starts coming to the table even though you're not even half done, they start turning away walk in patrons, the mopping and tossing of dishes into the dirty tubs starts happening etc.
Overall dinner was decent and affordable.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Nov 6, 2021Previous review*** November 2021 Update *** 4 Star
Came for lunch with a few friends and was not served by that server as mentioned from my last visit.
Food was good, the service is good. No complain.
Just don't get served by that lady everything will be okay for me.

Rude and horrible service. Doesn't care for your business.
Came at 8:15pm for dine in. Google at the moment says they close at 10pm but as I walked in I noticed their hours of operation sign says 9pm (sorry I was too angry to take a photo).
I walked in they were quite full. One lady with a bit of accent says 'hi were closed at 9.' I look at the time and we have 45 mins and we know what we quickly want so I responded 'that's ok do you have a table for 2?' She repeats that they're closing at 9 and then walks away to serve another table.
I still stood there and asked another lady can I have a table for 2. She says 'yes you can go look at the menu first over there but we're closing at 9.' I'm like that's fine we will be quick.
Then the same first lady with an accent comes to me while I'm looking at the menu and waiting to be seated, ' do you want take out?' . I responded 'no I want dine in'. She says again firmly, 'no I mean do you want take out?.
I put back the menu and left. She is basically saying that she doesn't want to serve me, to get take out or get out.
As per my previous review a year ago, looks like they didn't improve.

Affordable | Chinese Stir-Fry | HK Cafe | Limited Parking | Don't expect good service
This restaurant is offers affordable Chinese Stir-Fry meals and night and HK Cafe food is also available in the morning.
Prices are more affordable compared to many in the area.
With the price comes the lack of service. I've been here multiple times and the service is not the greatest. Many times they deny my house soup for dinners and says they have no more since it's late. And they will give our dessert when we are still eating the mains. And then soon after pass on the bill without us asking and start to mop the floors.
Overall if you're looking for cheap Chinese food, this isn't bad. Just have a bit of tolerance and patience.Oct 1, 2021Previous review*** October 2021 Update *** 1 Star

Awesome restaurant with tasty foods at affordable prices!
This place probably has your best bang for you buck with the low prices (in comparison to similar restaurants) but still super tasty and large portioned dishes! You have all your classic Congee Queen-esque menu offerings that are all delicious but at a lower price. The portions are pretty generous and they don't skimp out on the key ingredients on their dish--that means plenty of shrimp in your shrimp dish!
Definitely recommend coming here for a family-style dinner, or just some takeout!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - H D.Chicago, United States0192Nov 27, 2023
We order the breakfast dish beef brisket noodles that come with a drink. The bill was $31 and some change, so I left them a tip of $2 and some change the waitress comes back and said that not enough, and you need to leave more tip. It was just a few cents short of $3 which would be 10%. I did not believe someone would ask for 15 cents more to make it a $3 dollar tip. She knew we were out of town and wanted more from us. I will not be returning as there are plenty of HK Cafe in Markham. Stay away from this restaurant who wants more money from out of towners.

Love coming there for lunch and it is always busy there. At night, their restaurant turns into a place for dinner only, serving Cantonese style dishes. I also didn't realize they have another location, the one on Denison and Kennedy albeit that location is more of a bakery and smaller but they still offer food and they used to have tables inside for sit-in and outside on the patio during Covid-19 summer.
Service is ok but don't expect crazy excellent service as this is a Chinese restaurant and we all know service is never a number one priority. Good food at good value..I see so many people ordering takeout with them. Can't wait for things to reopen it up so we can do dine-in again.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 7, 2021
This is going to be my new go to HK style cafe. The service is so fast and efficient. The food is done so well and the prices here is rock bottom. Tried the black peller sauce baked chicken steak with rice. Just over $9 for this dish and it come with a drink so got a milk tea which was silky smooth. The sauce foe the chicken steak was so good. The chicken had a ice crisp on the skin and was juicy and tender. Also tried the satay beef in noodle soup. Once again the sauce for the meet was perfect. Beef was soft and tender. For now I must give these two dishes I tried a 5 star when comparing with other HK style cafe. I will come back to try other dishes.

If you're looking for a restaurant with affordable prices and good quality Chinese food, this is the place to go! With a variety of dishes to choose from, you won't make a huge dent on your wallet.
The food came fairly quickly after we order, and the portion sizes never disappoint. Overall, this restaurant doesn't charge too much and you get a big portion as well. If you order a certain amount (I believe over 25?), you will get a free sweet and sour pork dish, and a free fish if it's over 35 (I believe). You don't need to order too much as 4 ppl just need 3 or 2 dishes to share. We ordered at least 7 dishes, 4 drinks and the bill was around $70 (fairly cheap as the portion in other restaurants would probably be $100+).
The food also reminds me of Hong Kong a lot and none of their dishes ever disappointed me. If you're missing Hong Kong, come give this restaurant a visit!
TIP: Weekdays during dinner they're usually busy as well, so try to come before 6pm to get a seat. This restaurant only takes cash or debit!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
