I really enjoyed the rose pasta with prawns ($19.50) which comes with garlic bread. There were at least 8 prawns in there which was generous! Not very much noodles however. It was enough for just 1 portion. :)

Went in for the happy hour special (after 8pm) and ordered a linguine Pomodoro with chicken breast (11+5$) so I saved 2$! There was more garlic bread than spaghetti which I don't typically see. They were both great. The pasta had a nice chew (almost al dente which is how I like it) and the rest was great too! The chicken breast wasn't too dry either. I finished the whole portion in one sitting. - Jodie B.Edmonton, AB974571Nov 3, 2019
I love Famoso! The quality and service of the Whyte Ave location has been exceptional for all my visits, over many years. I've been here on romantic dates, with a large group of girls, with a kid, and alone! I found Famoso to be accommodating and friendly, no matter my situation.
I'm terms of food, I love getting the pizzetta combos. You get a small, more personal sized pizza, with choice or salad or soup. I highly recommend the Cavoletti pizza with walnut gorgozola salad. So delicious! I can't imagine trying anything else. I mean, I have enjoyed other pizza here, but nothing as special as the sweet, salty and earthy Cavoletti.
I've tried almost every wine, and my fave is the Castillo de Almansa. It's an excellent value, very delicious! Goes great alone and with food! If you adore bold tannins, the Jackson Triggs Cabernet is a smart choice.
Famoso is cute, comfortable, affordable and fun. You can drink here, have snacks, or a complete dinner experience. I highly recommend! Oh man, just typing this makes me want to go back!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Nancy K.Edmonton, AB1981Jun 11, 2022
Ordered through Door Dash last night. They didn't have wings but subbed meatballs. Also piled extra mozzarella balls and a slice of cheesecake. I'm glad they sent the meatballs. They were so delicious. Didn't miss the chicken at all.

Came here on a whim this past Sunday since it was the first warm weekend of the year. We were looking for a place with a patio that wasn't overly crowded and also baby-friendly (there two babies in tow). My friend suggested Famoso since they have a patio out back - which I didn't know about! It was a perfect suggestion since there were still tables available when we arrived mid-afternoon. And they also offer high chairs for babies!
Our server was good overall. Better than the lady who greeted us (she needs to find another job as she was pretty grumpy and unfriendly).
I ordered the Cavoletti (brussel sprouts, prosciutto, dates, walnuts and honey). It was freshly prepared and made well.
The table of us also ordered a pitcher of white sangria since the weather was calling our for it. Best decision ever - so good it tasted like juice! It could've used less ice (so ask for less ice if you do order a pitcher).
The water glasses for the babies even had a lid and straw - how awesome is that?
No room for dessert of course but I'm happy we were able to enjoy good food and drink in a quieter enclosed patio on such a beautiful day.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 27, 2016
Visiting from Vancouver, BC strolled along the area and decided to have a bite ... Once we got into the restaurant we were warmly greeted and then presented with menus...ordered drinks and then the Margarita Pizza with added Spicy Italian Sausage...the crust was done perfect to our order of 'Well done" as we like our crust crispy and cooked in the centre...I have to also say the waitress we had was absolutely professional and very very friendly!!
Thanks for the lovely experience!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Elaine P.Northwest Calgary, Calgary, AB775370Oct 15, 2017
Siciliana with Bianca white and veggies was really good
BBQ chicken was not as good as siciliana. Guess I like the salty stuff a little bit better. I do actually - had entirely side dish of Gorgonzola cheese.
Walnut salad nice quality.
Always nice to have a nice glass, or a cup of green tea.it's the fancy stuff :-)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kihya M.Edmonton, AB198137297Jun 26, 2016
Famoso seems to be the same regardless of which location I go to, and this one is no exception to that.
The Famoso on Whyte Ave has one of the better interiors of all the ones I have been too, but that may because I really dig the rustic, welcoming building look. The wood accents, mood lighting, and music make you feel right at home.
But the food? It's mediocre at each one I go to. I wish I could say I had an amazing experience here and the food was spectacular, but Famoso is a chain, and the food reminds you of that. Our salads were alright, but nothing I couldn't have made at home. I found mine even had too much mint in it, overpowering everything else. The pizza could have used more toppings, but overall it wasn't the worst I've had. The saving grace of this meal was my dessert, but one other in my party was very disappointed in their so-called gelato (which is actually more like ice cream).
The service was not what I would expect. Our waitress seemed to only come over when it suited her, leaving us wanting more drinks, dessert, etc. Considering it wasn't that busy in there, there was no excuse for this. But she looked like she was fresh out of high school, and I find that most younger servers don't really care like older servers do.
Will I visit Famoso again? Likely, but only if it's dinner time on a Saturday and everything else on Whyte Ave is busy.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Bree S.Victoria, BC80775Sep 6, 2018
I always order a red sauce pizza, their tomatoes are so amazing.
I have tried several of their creative seasonal pizzas and most were good with a few misses.
Whyte location seems to be higher rated but I have tried a few other locations and found them comparable as I don't usually rate on service and tend to order delivery.
Resto is cute inside though.
In comparison they are not expensive for pizza as other places which are not even half as good as Famoso.

My boyfriend and I straight up got food poisoning from the pizza here. We had the Diavola and I only had one slice around noon. Around 8ish I was starting to feel queasy, and by around 10pm I was straight up glued to the damn toilet. I'll spare you the details but WTF? I am typically really good with spicy food so I don't understand what exactly I ate, but whatever it was didn't really sit well. It wasn't just me either because my boyfriend, who normally has an iron stomach, was sick as hell as well on the couch later that day. I felt like dying.
This experience isn't going to stop me from eating at this Famoso in general, but I can guarantee that I will be sticking with the WEM or Jasper Ave location. I don't typically eat at this chain anyway so I guess this is another reason not to.
I'm giving this place a 2.5/5 because the chain in general is OK. As well as this the service is always really decent. HOWEVER, I'm kind of choked that I got food poisoning here though and it's doubtful I'll be back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jenna G.Edmonton, AB369443Aug 30, 2019
This Famoso has decent seating and comparable food quality to the other locations. Given the location, it gets slammed on weekends and can involve a wait for a table. The servers run around and keep things running smoothly and timely, despite the influx of people, but I do miss the personable staff from other locations, (the well-oiled machine the servers have going can create kind of a cold atmosphere).
