This is prolly my favorite bar in Santa Row to come stop by and have drinks.... or better yet a whole damn pitcher!! I usually get tapas when we visit and not the whole meals.... but that will have to change once SIP is officially over.
Just about all my visits I'm usually just there for the mango margarita with a tapa or two. The vibe here is so great and the drinks are awesome!! I think that's what made this place so great! The staff is super friendly and nice and alter to all your requests.
DID I MENTION THEY ARE OPEN DURING SIP? my friend and I had a lovely wens night with a handful of drinks each and left happy and content! I'll def be coming back again real soon for those mango drinks!! keep it up and see you guys soon!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 229737Feb 26, 2021Updated review
Im kind of bummed... I went here last Friday after the renovation. Everything has changed inside. Instead of the lounge type vibe, it's now a restaurant type setting.
Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful and totally chic, they have a bar now and more lighting, LOTS of tables... definitely a great business move.
However, I really enjoyed the lounge atmosphere, low/grown and sexy kind of lighting, fire pits.
There are a couple fire pits left, but it's not the same.
It wasn't as busy as it usually is which might be due to Covid.. lots of new inexperienced servers. Service was ok, could have been better.
Unfortunately, El Jardin is no longer on my faves list.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Nov 13, 2020Previous reviewAre u guys open yet??? :(
One of my all time fav places!!!! Pre-Covid, I loved this place for the outside setting of greenery, live music, and great drinks, and sexy ambiance.
I believe they are open seasonally but I could be wrong.
Drinks are good, a little pricey so I recommend getting pitchers for the most bang for your buck. Last time I went was during COVID on a Friday and it was craaaaaackin.!!!! Although they haven't been open within last few times I've tried to come.
Don't come hungry, this place is more drinks, live music (on the weekends; mariachi :D) and appetizers.
It seems family friendly but I don't recommend bringing kids, more of a grown and sexy atmosphere.
It is always packed, so I recommend showing up early. - Aug 5, 2019Updated review
I'm updating my review bc as great as the ambiance and yummy the food is this place is NOOOOTTTT good for big parties.
They don't split the checks only one check for everyone and they add gratuity automatically. When in fact the server may not deserve 18% as in our case.
This process makes it extremely hard for parties putting the work onto the guest of doing the math to split the check. In almost every case the math doesn't add up and the person who pays for it on their card loses money and some people end up having to pay for more than what they ordered to complete the bill.
There are many other restaurants e.g. Yard House or Cheesecake that do not add gratuity automatically and take care of the logistics of a large parties bill by providing split checks... save yourself the headache and go somewhere else!
Or
Enjoy this place with a small group bc they DONT accommodate large parties.
Also our server Esmeralda wasn't attentive at all we had to hunt her down 3 times to get our food order and she charged us the wrong flavor of margarita pitcher so when we HAD to split our own check bc they don't do it for us we were confused about who ordered Chile mango margarita pitchers (when in fact no one did bc she put down the wrong flavor)
Yet she still made $120 off of us and didn't deserve that whatsoever what a rip offHelpful 5Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Jan 26, 2017Previous reviewThis place was filled with live music and warm heating lamps that made the early spring breeze hardly noticeable. The NACHOS ARE HUGE with real melted cheese. It's all outdoor filled with very trending tree lights. Tacos have handmade tortillas. The place and food was perfect the service was so so. The server was condescending about us going for the nachos and not alcohol since it is a tequila bar. We ended up getting margarita which was very delicious but a little sour since I felt pressured to order it.

A-OK. I have been here a handful of times and it seems like a few right conditions have to met for you to have a good time here.
1) Must be warm outside (aka Not Winter). They have lots of gas lamps but don't turn all of them on for some reason, leaving tables out in the cold.
2) Happy hour. Don't even bother paying full price for a pitcher, which can get up to $50. Food is also not worth it at regular price. Come during happy hour.
3) Live music nights. The vibe is elevated when they bring in the live band.
4) Come with a big group. You'll get better service.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jul 19, 2019
This is one of those places that tries really hard to be a popular place with live music and great food, but their customer service was a little iffy. I didn't mind the waiting and less than stellar service since this spot is known for beautiful people watching.
If you can, try to get an individual table with those heaters on top, near the side. It's a good spot to just have a drink, chill with some friends and look at all the people surrounding you in the restaurant and walking down Santana Row.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 26, 2019
Pretty decent place with great vibes. Love that it's outside and shaded with trees in the middle of Santana Row.
We came around lunch and stayed for quite a bit, and it got really busy around Happy Hour, so definitely a good idea to join the Yelp Waitlist if you can.
The food menu is pretty limited, but our orders of tacos, chips, and fries tasted great. Not really a fan of the fact that they charge for chips and salsa, but hey, Yelp Check-In gets you a free basket *hint hint*.
I really enjoyed the Asada Nacho Fries. The order is pretty big and can definitely be shared with two people.
The Sangria Roja is delicious, although not cheap. Probably a good idea to get a pitcher of it if you're with a decently sized group.
I have a feeling I'll be here a good amount this summer (which is good because I wanna try their margaritas) :-)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 158013701511Oct 5, 2019
Whenever I see 3 stars I walk into a restaurant nervous - we walked by and chose this place just because we walked by it and I looked at the reviews after we sat down. "Well, hopefully my experience is better than the yelp reviews" I hope.
I would say my experience stacks up well with the reviews. The food was very good - I loved the fish tacos al pastor, especially because they are salmon and grilled instead of fried. The Cole slaw was great. My mom had the tacos all pastor which were good too.
The reason people knock down stars is service. I did the check in for the chips and salsa and we waited forever. No chips and salsa. We reminded the waiter and no chips and salsa. Finally we got our tacos, and ten minutes later came the chips and salsa. They're an appetizer, not a dessert!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 8369598952Sep 23, 2018
I've walked past this outdoor bar so many times but finally paid a visit when one of my friends wanted to try it out. Expect a 45 min wait Friday nights. You have to stand in line and once in front, inform the hostess how many people are in your party. We had a GNO of 7 and were seated near the front. Esmeralda took care of us, taking down drink & food orders. No ginger beer here so no Mule for me. I got a classic mojito instead. We came for the live music and they didn't disappoint. Dancing in your seat is encouraged! Or walk over to the dance floor in the middle, towards the bar in the back.
My friends had a round of tequila shots. They stop the entertainment early on, around 9pm? Kept the party going with lively Spanish music in the background.
Food-wise, we got 3 orders of 5 piece chicken wings. Those were good! Steak quesadilla was greasy, plain cheese was ok. The carne asada fries were loaded. Tacos looked alright. Gotta have chips & guac. I should've asked for more salsa, or pico de gallo. Pricey, but you're here for the ambiance. Or better yet, grab dinner earlier elsewhere and order drinks here!
Lots of seating options. We sat on a high top with bar stools. They have couch-like seats with low tables for just drinks & apps. Heating lamps all around. I guess the advantage of sitting at those high tops was having the kitchen right behind us. Food doesn't have to travel far!Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 10Oh no 0 - Jack L.Milpitas, United States108216456Aug 23, 2022
I like this place but the service is fairly slow and hosts seem to be too busy. The food is a little overpriced in my opinion but the environment and atmosphere is great.

This was my first time dining out since COVID-19 hit. The restaurant pushed out to the street right now. It looks like there's construction to their usual plot. I was able to have my party of 5 get seated. All utensils and dish ware are one time use. Their menu is super limited with no happy hour and no pitchers. It just sucks because their cups are super flimsy and my friend's cup immediately broke upon setting it on the table. It's a nice environment to sit and grab a drink or two. Tacos / guacamole was just average. The hot sauce was at least decent.
