This was a one and done for me. The portions you get were small for the price you pay. I tried the arroz chaufa (carne y pollo) and it didn't have much flavor. The papa Al huancaina was very dry, and the rotisserie chicken could have been cooked a little more.
Staff was ok but the place is run down.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ashley B.Bergenfield, United States1845211May 17, 2023
The green sauce is fantastic I wish they sold large sides of it because I literally crave it all week but am only in the area on Mondays

They give you free tortilla chips with the green sauce as a starter. This is THE spot for Peruvian pollo a la brasa, I have tried several spots and find myself coming back. Staff is friendly and attentive. It's affordable, good portions are given and it's tasty.

Gracias.

Four years later and I absolutely love this place. I compare every peruvian restaurant to this one and I always come back here. Their aji verde is the best one i've had so far and i always order extra to take home.

I asked one of my friends who lives in Elizabeth where i can get good peruvian food in this area and he recommended Don Alex. I ordered the arroz chaufa because that's what i usually get when i order peruvian food in my hometown ( i live in WNY). The food was absolutely delicious and it was a huge serving that i had enough to save for the next day. The only reason i'm giving them three stars is because I placed the order for pickup and she told me 10-15min which is fine but once I actually got there which was 20min after I placed the call, I still had to wait another 15min. Perhaps they should have another person in the front as it looked like the woman who was taking phone orders was also the one serving the customers at the tables.

The food isn't good at all , the arroz chaufa sucks and the chicken is undercooked . If I could I'd give it a zero

Was nice but not perfect because tonight only had 2 option for dessert and that's frustrating especially when you are spending time with friends and enjoying the moment
Anyway the food was good, delicious taste, super clean and nice place. If you are looking for a nice place go there. Hope next time have more option for desserts according to the menuHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sunny W.Union County, United States042Dec 17, 2018
My spouse and I regular patrons of other locations, and decided to try this specific location because we were visiting his parents in the area. HUGE MISTAKE! We called to place an order for pickup consisting of a whole chicken with three sides. After we picked up our order, we arrived home only to discover that we received the wrong entree. Instead of the whole chicken, we received a container with a quarter chicken, fries, and a salad. We called the restaurant and informed them of the mistake. The young lady who answered (and who also took my initial order and packaged our food) told me that we needed to come back to get the correct entree on an already cold and rainy night.
Once we arrived, the young lady presented us with a whole chicken. However, we kindly explained that we would like our entire order prepared over because the sides were cold and soggy. She told us that they will not prepare our order again. Instead of making a fuss, we simply stated we would like our money back. She stated that they will not refund our money and that there was nothing they could do. I asked to speak to a manager or owner and she stated that they do not have one. The young lady then completely ignored us for ~ 10 mins to tend to other customers.
To make a long and frustrating story short, I had to practically beg the young lady to refund our entire order. I refuse to patron this restaurant ever again. I have never in my life experienced customer service this poor. Not once did anyone apologize for the inconvenience. I wish there was an option to leave a review with ZERO STARS!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feroza E.Brooklyn, United States14212127Jul 8, 2017
My husband was craving ceviche so he looked up the nearest Peruvian restaurant. This was such a disappointment. We ordered ceviche mixto over rice which was sadly tasteless, the seafood was stiff, dry & smelled bad. I ordered chicken tomatoes/onions in soy sauce over spaghetti, it was also very mediocre. No taste. The appetizers, cauza de pastado (mash potatoes with avocado) wasn't worth talking about either. For this type of food; the prices are too high.
This place needs a serious makeover!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Alex L.Elizabeth, United States4511Mar 26, 2021
