The food was nothing special. I got the crab cake burger and it came really mushy. So there was no distinct flavour. The fries were really good though.
Mom got a Clam Chowder and it disappointed both of us. Overall everything tasted okay, but nothing to come back there for.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Ron S.Old Toronto, Toronto, ON01Oct 7, 2023
Just horrible. They claim to have the "Best Fish & Chips on the Beach". In that case, it is my humble opinion that they might have the WORST in all of BC. The fish was clearly factory battered & frozen (nothing fresh about it). Not much different than Highliner in a box from the frozen section at the supermarket. And their prices were outrageous - e.g., $3 for a small bottle of Costco (Kirkland) water. The fact they dare to claim to have the best fish & chips, then feed their customers factory frozen crap at an outrageous price, tells you all you need to know about this establishment...it's strictly about the money, not quality or their customers. Spend your money elsewhere.

When we first went to Dock's we weren't expecting much based on the poor review scores and the extremely empty restaurant. The view was great but the lack of customers made us wary... we were looking for a cheap place to eat, though, so we took the chance.
And boy did it pay off~!
My friend ordered the 2 piece cod and chips whereas I ordered the 1 piece Halibut and chips.
I have never had a piece of fish that I would easily claim was "juicy". The crisp, fresh crust coupled with the juicy, succulent fish that held up perfectly to the oil was delicious. The chips were hot, golden, and served with a lemon wedge. More tartar sauce at the table would've been nice, as the little cup I was given didn't suffice, but I digress; no points down from that as I could have always asked for more.
Based on my experience at Docks, I would say it's highly underrated. The service was quick, the food was hot and fresh, and one of the best fish and chips plates I've ever had. Period.
Your luck may vary, but for us, it was a knockout~!
Talk about thin crust, and THICK, JUICY HALIBUT!
Definitely QUALITY, over quantity.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sandy H.Surrey, BC02Aug 15, 2022
3 pc Combo plate listed online for $23.99 was FORTY-ONE DOLLARS!!! and so greasy I was sick all the way home! The salmon was old and inedible, the halibut was bland and unrecognizable, and the cod was ok but way too greasy! Must have used old oil! The fries might have been great but I wouldn't know because my to-go order was in a closed box with NO AIR HOLE and just 10 minutes after picking it up it was all SOGGY! So disappointed!

Cute spot with good fish and chips. Our whole group got cod and it was great. The patio has a nice view, and the wait staff were all really relaxed and polite. I don't know what everyone else had against the place, it's a good casual lunch/dinner spot if you're at the beach.

The food was not good, popcorn shrimp was so over cooked, the service was average, did not feel good the rest of the night, would not go back.

The view is gorgeous but unfortunately the portions and the flavour do not correspond to the price you're paying. +20 CAD for a tiny salad and a tiny salmon it's not acceptable, same for the fish and chips. Sadly too overpriced, not coming back.

I drove in from Abbotsford just for their fish and chips. The fish is top notch but I really love the chips. Sitting on the patio with a beer while chowing down on the chips is epic.

I feel this restaurant is only busy because of its location. Most of the patio section was seated when I decided to stop by and enjoy a late lunch. We ordered a Dock's Combo ($25.99) to share.
Service was slow. It feels like a family run restaurant and the parents were making their daughter served the customers. When you get kids to serve, they might not be as motivated to work to impress customers. People who were seated after us got served before we flagged for the girl's attention and placed our order.
Food eventually arrived. The fish portion was alright. The fries and the coleslaw were good. Fries and fish were pipping hot. The batter was on the lighter side compared to the usual thicker batter I am used to eating. We started on the halibut and it tasted pretty good. However, the salmon was slightly overcooked and the cod was way overcooked. If I had to guess, the chef cooked all three pieces of fish together for the same length of time. All three pieces of fish were pipping hot and the same temperature as the fries. What started off as a promising meal sorta fell flat. There was also an extra charge for more tartar sauce. However, I think the amount we received was more than adequate.
I am giving this restaurant a two star rating because there are so many other better options nearby for fish and chips.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tara A.Maple Ridge, BC1042214Aug 4, 2021
We just wanted good fish & chips at a decent price as we had three young children with us who didn't need anything fancy, and we didn't want to overpay at a restaurant that offered a upscale dining experience. We were okay with getting our food to go or quickly eating on the patio in order to get on with our day. I asked an employee at one restaurant for their recommendation for "simple fish & chips" and he recommended Dock's. When we arrived at Dock's, there was one table seating two men, and the rest of the tables were empty. Which was weird because it was dinner-time in the summer, and every other restaurant on the Drive was packed. However, it was nice to get lots of seating outside with a beautiful view. Shortly after we ordered, we noticed our waitress and the cook standing by the road vaping and chatting. We were thirsty because it was a 30+ day and thought it was strange she'd go hang out before getting us at least water. Food came fast but alas- it was bland. And not cheap. We were hungry though so it hit the spot. In summary, if the place was cheaper- everything negative we encountered would be acceptable. We won't be going back. It's too bad because the location/view is awesome. But at those prices, you're better off going somewhere else.
