So this place is AMAZING. We sat outside on the patio and it was really pleasant. We ordered only appetizers -
- Coconut rice cakes
- daikon cakes (fried with egg, probably the only non Vegan thing)
- various salads
- cassava fries
- spring rolls
- lettuce wrap
Everything is mind blowingly tasty and innovative. In particular: the coconut rice cakes and daikon cakes were really amazing and the flavors really stand out. They are crunchy in just the right way, still light not too much batter.
My family normally doesn't eat vegan and we only did so because a vegetarian friend was in town, but we are soo glad we discovered it and will be back for sure !!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jun 13, 2022Updated review
Went here again on a weeknight and it was the perfect place to fuel up post-run without feeling too guilty about what you might be consuming
The house drink 5/5 -- not too sweet, very refreshing
Spring rolls 5/5 -- Crispy and well made
Lettuce wraps 4/5 -- I thought this could have a bit more of a crunch to this
Egg plant 3.5/5 -- I found this a bit high in sodium so you must pair this and eat this with rice
Really hoping the patio isn't as full next time because it looks lovely and spaciousHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Mar 4, 2022Previous reviewReally delicious vegetarian food. I love the spin they've made on certain Vietnamese classics.
I called in and asked if a table for two was available that day within that half hour. Luckily for us, a table was just being cleared and should be ready within 15 minutes. We walked there and got our seats right away.
Lettuce wraps 5/5 -- really good flavours to this with crisp fresh lettuce paired
Black garlic eggplant 3.5/5 -- this was a bit too flavourful and potent for me. A bit too much oyster sauce/soy sauce for my liking
Coconut curry 4/5 -- really creamy and nice flavour to this. I wasn't a fan of the plant-based prawns, would opt out or try to sub next time.
Tea 2/5 -- not a huge fan of chunks of tea leaves accommodating my tea. Would love a filter next time - Kevin B.Toronto, ON2521Apr 10, 2022
Honestly one of the best food experiences we have had in Vancouver (Torontonian/Londoner (UK)).
Super nice welcome asking us if we wanted a window seat etc. Extremely attentive waiting staff. Special thanks to the young lady who was extra attentive, who gave us tips on eating each dish.
Ambience was great. Cutlery and plates/bowls were really cool. In fact, I would love to purchase them!
We had: Spring rolls, lettuce wraps, curry bowl, vegan pho. All incredible and a great mix of flavours.
Could not recommend this place any more. A great end to our latest Vancouver trip. See you again soon!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Nov 19, 2020
Delicious food that is kind to the environment!
We have been a fan of the restaurant's Kingsway location so we are excited that it opened a second location right in the heart of Yaletown, which is in need of a place offering delicious and inventive vegetarian food.
We were looking for a light meal and decided to go Do Chay for some healthy dinner. For appetizer, we were curious about the Uncle Hings Wings, which are deep fried breaded mushrooms in a sticky sweet and sour sauce. It definitely taste very similar to chicken wings! We also got the Spring Rolls which comes with mustard green (cut into perfect wrapping shape) and herb (basil/sage?). For entrees, we shared the Black Garlic Eggplant served with yo choy and rice.
We can't wait to go back and try out all the other creative vegetarian dishes they have on the menu!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Emma W.Oakland, United States375587219160Sep 7, 2021
Wow. I am so happy my friend recommended this new spot during my recent visit home to Vancouver! Do Chay Yaletown is a beautiful and hip spot (equipped with hanging plants) serving up healthy and clean Vietnamese dishes and cocktails. We stopped by at 11:30am on a Friday and were the first people there (we made a reservation just in case). They have great seating options inside and out.
My friend and I shared the mango salad, black truffle tofu, and eggplant dish. Everything was delicious, but the tofu was definitely our fave. It was perfectly crisp and the sauce it came with was perfectly light and flavored without being overwhelming.
We also got black lemonades, which was a wonderful accompaniment to the meal.
I will definitely be back.Helpful 23Thanks 0Love this 23Oh no 0 - Jul 19, 2021
We stumbled on this place while trying to find Meet and ended up having a way better meal. We had the Prosperity Dumplings - complex, tender and flavourful in a lovely broth, the pho - very authentic with the surprising win of avocado slices and tofu skin, and Uncle Hings Wings, breaded oyster mushrooms with a sweet sauce. Fabu! We'd order all three again, but want to come back and try everything else first, starting with the lemongrass tofu and the vegan Vern.

Decided to go to Do Chay in Yaletown for Mother's Day dinner.
Everything we ordered was delicious.
We started with the spring rolls and the wings. I can probably have 10 orders of the wings. They're so good, super crispy and I love the sweet and spicy sauce that they're coated in. Before becoming vegan lemongrass beef was a go to for me so I was super excited to try their lemongrass tofu. Loved the crispy shallots on top. Was very flavourful. I would order it again. It was a very generous portion. We also ordered the Bún Bò Huế but got it with rice noodles instead of the spaghetti looking noodles. It was very flavourful and very spicy in my opinion. The waitress said it wasn't but it definitely warmed me up. The kind is spicy you want to keep eating. I went back last weekend and was so happy again. Definitely recommend this place if you like Vietnamese food. Bon Appétit!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Sarah K.Vancouver, BC45860Jun 16, 2022
best dining experience
Finally giving it 5 stars it was my favourite in Vancouver so far
First time visiting it was 4/5 because of the lemongrass tofu (a bit lacking flavor) but this time the vegan verm totally hit the spot
Waitress friendly and they refill the water
Clean washrooms
The food is great love the vegan sauce to the bun cha gio/ vegan verm - it's great
The only thing is there are some little flies flying aroundHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - William H.Saskatoon, SK073Mar 2, 2022
