Davidson Ice House

We stopped on a Sat for lunch and had trouble deciding with bowl to pick.

We both ordered the Davidsonian ($11) with slight variations to the ingredients. Both of us enjoyed the total combination (we both ordered over a bed of grains which we recommend). Serving size was generous.

Plenty of space for indoor dining (which is tight these days with Covid seating restrictions).

Unique selection of bowl ingredients - not Tex-mex or sushi, something else altogether....you wouldn't think these ingredients go together, but they actually combine well! I had the Davidsonian, wanted the Brûlée but they were out of grilled corn and caramelized onions. See attached menu pictures for the unique ingredient selections.

If you like giardinia, you will like the cauliflower.

I like big bowls and I cannot lie! Davidson Ice House's bowls fit the bill. DIH is a counter service restaurant. Place your order at the counter and one of the staff members will bring your order to your table. Plenty of indoor and outdoor (front and back) seating. Ample parking available in front of the business.

You have an option of building your own bowl with your choice of:
Step 1: Base - grains, rice, or greens
Step 2: Proteins - paleo grilled chicken thighs, cast-iron chicken, beefy meatballs, chopped vegan chicken, crunchy mushrooms
Step 3: Vegetables - too many to list
Step 4: Spreads - classic hummus, green hummus, silky ratatouille, and sassy pimento cheese
Step 5: Sauces - tahini lemon, creamy pesto, Asian BBQ, spicy green, Buffalo, herby ranch, parmesan peppercorn caesar, and tangy apricot
Step 6: Sides - sidewinder fries, crispy cauliflower, crunchy mushroup of veggies

Or you can choose from one of their Chef's Creations for $8.95-$10.95: Buffalo Bill, Italian Amore, Buddha's Belly (V), The Brule, Paleo A-Go-Go, Tree Hugger (V), The Roman, and The Davidsonian. Kids size available for $6.75. They also offer treats (cookies), soup, and alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Came here with my family. All 5 of us tried something different. Of the five, I only tried my order which was The Brule and my husband's, Buddha's Belly. Both bowls were full of flavor and very filling. So filling I had to take almost half of my Brule to go. They were not stingy with their fresh ingredients at all. I think it's worth mentioning that my sister was on a whole 30 diet and was able to create a whole 30 approved bowl. Everybody enjoyed their bowls. Prices are fair and service was good. The nice lady at the counter was very patient with us.

My boyfriend and I stopped here to have a late lunch this past weekend and the food was delicious! The owner suggested their two most popular bowls and that's what we went with. The Brule and the Davidsonian will not disappoint! I also highly recommend the French fries, they need no further justification, they're that good. If this was closer to where we lived in Charlotte it would absolutely be a regular lunch or dinner spot for us!

The owner is also so nice and welcoming. Since we had never been before she took time to go over the menu and made really helpful suggestions. We mentioned we were going to be walking around Davidson for the rest of the day too and she gave us some suggestions of places to go. We will definitely be visiting again!

OH EM GEE!!! I'm in love!!! This place is the bomb! Healthy menu items and generous portions. Discovered this place while driving from an appointment in the area. Now, if you've read any of my other reviews you know that the first thing that I look for when I walk into a business is how I am greeted. They get an A+!! As soon as my son and I walked in and we were greeted with hellos and huge smiles. I explained to the gentleman at the front that I had never been there before and he was very patient while he explained the menu options to me. He gave me some recommendations and I ordered The Davidsonian. They had our food ready quickly and we decided to stay in and eat. As I mentioned initially, the portions are very generous. The taste was amazing! The best way to describe it is like a medley in your mouth. Just different flavors coming to life in your mouth the more that you ate. We ordered to take home bowls. GO! You will not be disappointed.

I am always skeptical of new restaurants coming to Davidson, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the Icehouse. The website and menu are fairly confusing to understand your first time, but every meal I've had at the Icehouse has been outstanding. I've tried several different options, including the Davidsonian, the Roman, and the Brule. They are all packed with flavor and are incredibly filling, as well as aesthetically pleasing. My very picky parents really enjoy it as well. I'm making myself hungry right now and might go get a salad.

Be aware that they don't have wraps, despite what their menu online says. Not sure what's going on there but I didn't mind because the food made up for it.

Love this place. I've only ever ordered the bowls, but the Davidsonian is my favorite. Unfortunately it can be hit or miss in terms of consistency of the food. The first time I went everything tasted great. The second time I went the high school/college kids working messed up my order when I asked for grains I got salad in my bowl. When I tried to go up and correct my order I was ignored at the counter... when I finally got my runners attention he brought me grains on the side, but it was dried and crusted like it was at the bottom of the pan. And even so, I still go back because I always feel so healthy after eating a bowl there.

Love this new option in Davidson.

The Davidson Ice House is a new concept for Davidson with both pre-designed options and the ability to get as creative as you like. The concept here is a great bowl of food, built around rice, greens or grains, with a variety of proteins, veggies and sauces to pull it all together.

Our family members(2 adults and 2 growing boys) in three visits have tried several of the pre-designed options including the Davidsonian, the Tree Hugger, Buffalo Bill and Buddha's Belly. They have all been terrific, but you can also change things in and out without problem if there is an ingredient that you don't prefer. We have also started to get creative by building our own dishes out of the items on the board as you enter, which is just as easy to order and gets you exactly what you want.

What is great is the individual ingredients are all perfectly cooked and combine together to make interesting, fun and healthy dishes. Easy to go paleo, gluten free or vegetarian so everyone should be satisfied.

Our favorite proteins - Grilled chicken thighs and meatballs
Favorite veggies - sweet potatoes, grilled corn, grilled slaw, roasted blackbeans
Favorite sauces so far - spicy green and Asian barbecue

Wait times have been 3-4 minutes to order, and maybe 10-12 minutes to get our food. Worth it!

The Davidson Ice House is EXACTLY what Davidson has been missing!! The service was fast and friendly and the food was flavorful and delicious! Being gluten free, I was delighted to learn that they had such a wide variety of options on their menu, which were accommodating to all dietary restrictions but did not sacrifice flavor or taste! I had The Davidsonian on Rice with green hummus and could not have been more satisfied with my meal. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

First time here today for lunch and it was everything the reviews I've seen said it would be! Chose to sit inside since it was already pretty hot outside but the outside seating looks inviting.
Ordered the Davidsonian and the Buffalo bowls with a side of fries since the reviews said they were great. The fries are Great!! Great flavors in the bowls and large portions-luckily they have covers so we could take the leftovers home!
Look forward to our next visit & might try to create our own bowls next time!
