Regarding the appearance of the establishment.
It is so cute, comfy and quaint! I felt relaxed and honestly gave me some "cheers" vibes. If you are posh and don't know how to appreciate a family owned business I do not recommend this place.
From the review of 7 years ago. Their are no more taxidermy!
      Regarding Food.
Omg so delicious! We had breakfast and the hot Ake's are so thick and moist and HOT. They are huge, so expect the kids Hotcakes to be normal adult size. The maple syrup sausages where exactly what you want from a sausage patty crispy yet sweet and not at all dry. The pan fries I 100% recommend.
      Regarding staff.
FAMILY OWNED!!! What does that mean it means things run different, it means the owners are working the kitchen, the cash register and cleaning tables while the kids are running around entertaining themselves while mommy and daddy provide for their family! It's both beautiful and amazing to be directly helping a hardworking family for their services, and I mean the food is just

This is an absolutely fantastic restaurant. Stopped on our way going up to Ashcroft. Steak breakfast A++. Their pies are like from the movie Pie Nostalgia, begging to be indulged. Situated on beautiful property, so be sure to take a walk around while you wait for your food.

The interior of this place I found extremely comfortable. Not pretentious in any way or gimmicky, but rather utilitarian and simple. Not too artificially bright and has sufficient natural light from the windows. Its like being in a cabin. Will definitely return next time I drive through. I wish there were more simple yet competent eateries like this, they dont make them like they used to. This place proves that you dont need any tacky veneer or glitz to meet the basic needs of a customer who just wants a cool place to eat.

Was attracted by the sign: Homemade Pies.

Surprisingly full of old folks, some in parties of 4 or 6, most seemed to be regulars, greeted by the operator.

Price for 2 egg breakfast not including coffee: $9. I expected some pretty good food. The eggs were properly prepared and the hashbrowns were VERY good (best thing about the experience): They were boiled potatoes kind of smashed together with green onions and fried crispy on top & bottom. The toast was wonder bread with margarine. The coffee ($1.50) was crappy but bottomless. The OJ ($3.50) was tiny (5 oz?) and warmish and reconstituted. The service was prompt.

The decor was strange. rundown and ugly, not really in a good way. The place was not clean. The washrooms were appalling.

Didn't bother ordering the pie. The grime and the washroom spoiled my appetite.

We stopped in this place because we were travelling through and needed a meal.

The experience was almost surreal. The motel nearby looks a bit rundown, but the restaurant seemed inviting. There were hummingbird feeders with hummingbirds humming around.

Inside, it was a different story. Two women sat at the counter - it looked like they worked there. But they didn't move. We were told to pick a place, but the center table was reserved. It wasn't difficult, as we were the only customers in the place.

A man brought us menus and then eventually returned to take our order with some confusion. During all of this the two women sitting at the counter continued to sit and talk, and one of them seemed to be ordering the man around. At one point she said 'You have to change (something unintelligible), the health inspector said it has to be changed and it hasn't been touched in 5 years'.

We had plenty of time to look around, as it took close to 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Since these were clubhouse sandwiches and the place wasn't busy, this seemed a bit excessive.

The place is desperately in need of a renovation - the decor looks like alpine kitsch from 1965. There were dodgy-looking taxidermy specimens and the chandelier near us was festooned with dusty cobweb. The washrooms were very rundown.

"It's like the beginning of every episode of Supernatural!" one of my teens whispered to me.

The food, when it did eventually arrive, was surprisingly good. While the turkey in my clubhouse was the packaged sort, the bacon was abundant and crisp, the tomato fresh, and the fries crisp and perfectly golden.

It wasn't enough to make up for the weirdness of the place, the dirt, or the complete indifference of some of the staff. We will be avoiding this place in the future.

Stopped for lunch. I admit I was a little worried when I saw the decor & things were a little dusty, but the service and food were excellent. Real roast turkey on my clubhouse sandwich and home cut fries. Alpine bird and the burger were excellent as well.
