    Black Top & Checker Cabs has been offering clients throughout the City of Vancouver a comfortable and convenient way to get around for over 60 years. Over 220 vehicles makes our fleet the second largest in the city. That means it's always easy to find one of our drivers on the road or to hire us 24 hours a day.       I normally don't air my frustrations or rants. However this morning on my way to work this jerk of a cab driver cut me off not only once, but 3 times! I honked then he proceeded to slam on his breaks then give me the finger, then when I tried changing lanes he cuts me off again! Then proceeds to slam on his breaks causing me swerve into the other lane. This went on for 2 blocks!! I've never been so angry He would have caused a big accident on Cambie Street near Queen Elizabeth Park. Seriously what possesses people to act like jerks?! Luckily I didn't have my kid with me at the time. Not impressed at all with this cab driver's behavior. I messaged this company and still no response very unprofessional.

      This is the Cab driver that cut me off 3 times and drove recklessly down Cambie Street. Just so he can get his revenge. Beware of this one.

      Horrible driver who doesn't understand the rules of the road!
      Honking at the car in front of him to get turning when the person was turning right on a RED light and coming to a complete stop first.
      Guess what - you are suppose to be a professional driver - why are you being aggressive to other drivers who are obeying the law???
      Horrible
      Don't bother with such a company

      I once gave a review to this company on google...

      I'm pretty sure I specifically said if I could give a worse review than 1/5 I would. Well it turns out I can't. And it turns out you can't give more than one on one web site. Well here I am. With another review, provoked by yet another tail of horrible service. I called a cab for a friend. They called to say they were here. We went down stairs to find it was gone(I live on the seventh floor.. not that high). So, I called to ask if we were getting a cab. The operator then proceeded to rudely tell me that "if your cab calls you should probably rush to get it" then (no joke) hangs up on me mid sentence.

      I've said it once, I'll say it again. I cannot wait for Uber to put these people out of business.

      Ps: It is exceptionally curious to me that these individuals do not see the eventual entrance of Uber to be the end of their business my, based on their current behaviour?


      IF IF IF IF! You need a cab in this town. Use any of the sub par options before this one.

      It's annoying when called and you are put on hold or called and the line is busy. If you are going to a party and your taxi gets reimburse and everyone is taking the same taxi this is a nightmare. U have to fight for your cab. The guy just pick up who ever jumps in. No it doesn't work that way. Worse is on rainy days.

      Taxi is taxi and sometimes it worries me if after you called if they are going to show up. There was a couple times where I think my colleague stole my ride. Or maybe not my colleague but someone else. You can stand and wait forever. Grrrr

      Rude and Poor Service

      Sadly the city of Vancouver is dragging their feet in having Uber in the city so you have to take our horrific taxis. 2 weeks ago my partner and I were forced to take black top cabs from the airport (to take a cab you have take the one that is next in line). There is a flat rate system in Vancouver when you leave the airport to various areas in Vancouver including downtown. Our driver chose to ignore this and charged us more than than he was supposed to. When we told him this he argued with us and then got mad when we did not tip him.
      Not all drivers are like this i would hope. But the last 2 times we took taxis from the airport the same thing happened.
      When you complain to the taxi company nothing happens.

      Best cab company in Vancouver.

      - Reliable service. I've never had a scheduled cab not show up on time.

      - No payment games. Credit or debit accepted without question.

      - No ads. Some cabs are starting to display ads on screens behind the front seats. Even worse, they often make noise.

      - They know their way around, but will go your preferred route if you ask.

      - Clean cars.

      - Better coverage. A lot of companies linger near downtown during peak hours and won't pay attention to dispatch. I think Black Top is more spread out.

      - I've heard good things about the mobile app but haven't bothered yet.

      I used to have bad experiences with other companies but don't bother with them anymore. Black Top is good.

      Had the rudest f**kernel of a call rep. He actually hung up on me because i gave him an intersection instead of an actually address. I was about to explain and he just hung up. Horrible company. Will never choose them again.

      If you lost something in this cab, you might feel regret.

      My friend lost his wallet with many important IDs while taking his girlfriend home. He paid with his credit card and he found out later that he only had his credit card without the wallet. The next day I try to help them. I called the operator and they just kept transfer to lost and found department. All they do is to force me to leave a message and if they found they will contact me back. The voice mailbox messaging kept saying that their hours are 9 AM to 5 PM except lunch hour 1:30 - 2:30 PM. But actually, they're never there to answer the phone. You can not talk to them trying to contact the driver to double check under the seat or anything.

      I had another experience with another friend of mine but with Yellow Cab. Yellow Cab did help my friend with their best. The driver drove back and she found her phone under the seat. I really appreciate their service.

      I won't use Black Top & Checker Cabs service and I won't recommend any of my friends to use their service anymore. I hope this will help you to be aware of the case that you may lose something in their cabs because they won't take it seriously.

      I called in for a taxi in kitsilano area (W Broadway and Maple St) to be exact around: 2:26 pm. Driver arrived and I had with me a cup to go coffee and a tea. Accidentally my coffee drips a little bit in the back seat (leather seat) and I say sorry to the driver and ask for paper tissue to wipe off the seat and I wiped down. To be honest I know how annoying this could be since you guys offer this service to the public and you don't want every person dropping food or beverage or anything. But what exactly happened was that is was a small amount and I cleaned. After I was cleaning this person starts to be very rude and aggressive and starts talking to me very badly about how this needs to get paid and how I did this. He started shouting at a point in which I got uncomfortable and said I was going out since his behavior was UNACCEPTABLE.
      He grabs the whole very hot tea cup, and throws it VERY AGGRESSIVELY into the window. Every person that was in the street noticed this. I'm very friends with the people that are in the cafe and they cas testify what happend.
      I get out of the taxi and call your company, and the person in the phone starts arguing with me that I dropped a big amount and that he had the right to drop me.

      I'm normally not a person who sends this kind of emails and makes a big deal about stuff. But today, unfortunately I felt very very bad, I was shaking when I got out the cab and I will make a report, even with authority if necessary.

      Absolutely awful. We are from the states and left a wallet in the back seat with my ID to get back into the US...when we called the company to ask if the same cab could look for it the operator was extremely rude. He told me I had the wrong company and almost hung up...when I told him I was holding the receipt and it said "black top and checker cabs" and I had all the information on the vehicle he asked for my number and said he would call me back. An hour later he called, said "We don't have it. Sorry" I asked to speak to the manager and he spoke in a rude aggressive tone and said "Ma'am we do not have your wallet. goodbye."

      I get that losing the wallet was our fault but there was no need to be as rude as he was.
      If I could give 1 star I would.
