Big 5 Sporting Goods

Made a Yelp account just to leave this review. I called in on 3/30/2024 about some last-minute items I needed to grab before Easter. The manager Kyle answered the phone - he did some price checks for me and was incredibly helpful.

When I got into the store, Kyle remembered me from my phone call. He directed me to Matthew and Connor to help me find the items I was looking for. I could tell these guys knew what they were talking about, and I could tell they genuinely enjoyed their jobs.

Truly a 5/5 star transaction, and I will definitely be coming back to give them my business.

Nice folks working this afternoon. Jensen and his coworker helped me find just what I was looking for, a neck warmer and with smiles on their faces. Plus a greeting when you entered. Also, the item was the same price as the internet and you could examine it before you buy it. Good job.

But management don't give a shit if the his worker his employees are rude to his customers and that's really sad but I will never go there again on McLaughlin Boulevard

Found the item that I wanted on their website. Call to see if they had it in stock. They were super helpful, checked the item/price then offered to put it on hold for me.

I showed up an hour later (with a 20% off coupon from their website!) the transaction was quick and efficient, and the cashier was very friendly.

Another great Big-5 experience!

Don't go here if your looking for good customer service! Was looking to return a pair of shoes I had just bought and got the most unfriendly manager. I don't know if he was having a off day or that's just his personality but it was the most unpleasant experience I ever had. The store is extremely cramped and half the employees looked clueless as to what they were doing. Will not return based on the crappy experience of the employees

Been in here a few times. I like to look at the stuff. Most of it is out of my price range. I forgot all about a gift card I had. Upon discovery, I made a ride on down to see what I could get for my money. I was shocked at the score I made. I was able to get several fishing items I needed. My cost was less than $2.00 cool. I still stop in on occasion to look at a boat I like. So i'm sure I will be buying more gear soon.

We were out of town for an early morning baseball tournament, realized we had grabbed the wrong cleats for our son and were in need of new ones. Tried the local Fred Meyer since they were open but they had no cleats for sale. Headed to Big 5 but they did not open for another 30 minutes. One of the employees was walking in for her shift. Told her our situation she said "let me see what we can do, what size and brand are you looking for?" Five minutes later we were in and out! Made it to the game just in time for the boy to go on the field!

The Customer Service at the Mcloughlin Blvd location sucks! Not polite.... waiting forever.... not friendly or professional whatsoever. Never again will I shop here!!

This location should be called the Not So Big 5.

But despite the small size, it has become my 'good luck' place for buying athletic shoes for the boys. About every three months we walk in and get great deals on a variety of shoes. No coupons, they just seem to run a lot of promotions so name brand shoes are typically $20 - 30 off the standard retail prices.

Absolutely crammed full of merchandise, but we just make a beeline for the shoes.

today on 3/5/2021 my 83 latino grandfather who is an american citizen (its literally a right to own a gun) went into this location to purchase ammunition for two small hand guns. my grandfather went to big 5 sporting goods a whole 2!!! hours before opening to make sure he would be able to make a purchase!
when the store was being opened this morning the white bulky male told my grandfather they did not have anything in stock. he denied him entry into the store.. but he continued to allow other people into the store.
later that day my father and i both made calls to ask if they had what we were looking for ( he checked both times ) and said sorry sold out this morning!!

if you had some this morning why was my grandfather not allowed to make his purchase?? is it because he doesnt speak english well??? is it because his skin is brown??? is it because he spanish is his first language???????
no its because he was racially profiled
by a white male who decided to take away his american right!!!

my father and i both called the same day and we were both told told the same thing by the same white male

usually i am with my grandfather because of people like this man who denied my grandfather his american right as an american citizen his purchase! but i couldnt be there this morning on 3/5/2021

corporate will be hearing this as well
this man cannot be allowed to do this to any other person of color

is this what big 5 sporting goods teaching their employees???
