What's not to love!
We walked in to the magnificent stylings of Sean Allen on piano and vocals, the cocktails were perfectly made and our menu selections were absolutely delicious!
Please don't think that the Bacchus environment is stuffy - there were folks there in hockey jerseys as well as sports coats. Come as you are, and enjoy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mar 19, 2024
I went with friends to the $65 dinner dine out menu.
The atmosphere is great and tranquil. We were seated at the back as the only group table back there. We had an 8:30 reservation though. They had the live piano music which was great.
After we chose our dineout menus, there was a round of amuse Bouche which was deep fried cauliflower. It tasted quite salty though. There was also a complimentary bread basket with butter. The bread basket was great.
My starter was the duck pate. It was smooth and succulent and came with 2 pieces of toast. It was a rich start to the meal. Then I opted for pork bourgnoie which they made it taste like beef and not dry at all. The portion was quite small but I was getting quite full. For dessert I chose the nougatine dome which was quite rich. Maybe I would've enjoyed it if I was a bit less full.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1324962697Feb 6, 2024
From a quick drink, a light lunch or dinning in. Bacchus has been one for the most consistent in food and service.
Martini's are done right, great selection of wines, dessert and cheeses.
Dropped in earlier this month for some drinks and quick noshes with colleges. I just had to write this review as service and consistency post covid is all over the board. Bacchus is stellar.Helpful 5Thanks 3Love this 5Oh no 0 - 9166529Oct 18, 2023
I've been coming to "The Wedgie" since 1995, when Nelson Skalbania was the dubious and somewhat lascivious "Santa" whose knee I had to sit on during a company Christmas luncheon when I was much younger, lol.
It's gone up and down in terms of the food, especially the last 6 years. But wow, I think it's on the upswing again currently!
I showed up at 11am for lunch and a long afternoon of killing time (transformer in my building blew up) while the temporary generator was en route. I looked like hell, but I explained my situation and the staff sat my disheveled butt in front of the fireplace and were very kind.
I ordered their steak frites for lunch and it was truly perfect. The steak, the peppercorn sauce, the haricots vert, the fries were perfectly executed. Not a single quibble with a dish that often is disappointing in many places. The fries were VERY good. And yes, they have aioli available, albeit with truffles.
Regardless of the truffle issue, it was glorious to spend a few hours by a fire, on a couch, with a busy but somewhat geriatric lunch crowd, lol (I'm in my 50s and I was probably the youngest patron). No loud thumping music. Enough lighting to see, but not blinding nor flashing in your eyes. The music was a soothing mix of classical and contemporary pop on a piano.
Staff were very kind and professional. I noted that many of the clientele were regulars and the staff all knew about their various vacation plans, children and grandchildren, and it was a very caring and kind atmosphere.
Bliss.
I also note that they seem to have launched what looks to be a great happy hour menu.
I miss coming here in the evenings for the schmaltzy but awesome live piano music. Perhaps it's time to start coming back!

Ok, so I've now been here long enough for the happy hour menu to start. I tried their wings.... HORRIBLE. It tastes like they boiled the wings, drenched it in sauce and then stuck it under a broiler for a few minutes. Wow. * EPIC FAIL * I am not changing my original 5-star review, as happy hour has NEVER been a strong point for The Wedgie (they didn't do happy hour for a long time).
But wow, definitely stick to their regular dining menu because this was not good.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lynne M.Seattle, United States723698Apr 24, 2024

Lovely experience. Terrific ambiance, enjoyed the cozy, elegant living room decor. Comfy chairs, granite tabletops. Staying at the hotel, came for breakfast. Food was good, scrambled eggs perfectly creamy. Coffee very good, nice and strong, kudos for that. And nice and hot. I hate lukewarm, weak coffee. None of that here. They leave an insulated coffee carafe which was great, hot refills on demand. The menu was very conservative with standard breakfast fare. Eggs, pancakes, the ususal. Nothing exotic, but solid. They brought ketchup and two fresh jams without asking. Bravo. None of that jam in a plastic tub nonsense. Service was excellent. Perfect amount of check-in without pestering. This is $$$ but prices were fair and reasonable for the experience. Would recommend.

Celebrated a girlfriend's birthday here and we enjoyed an absolutely amazing dinner between the five of us. We shared everything family style so we could try everything.
Our appetizers were the Tuna Tartare, Hamachi Crudo, Podere Dei Leoni Burrata, Foie Gras Torchon, and Oysters. Our entrees included the Soy Sake Marinated Local Sablefish, Roasted Fraser Valley Duck Breast, Beef Duo, and Ribeye. Sides included the Pan Seared Hokkaido Scallops, Bacchus Truffle Fries, and mushrooms.
What a fabulous dinner! Everything was delicious and service was top notch. What a wonderful evening.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Doug G.Vancouver, BC5124152Nov 9, 2023
I dare you...!
I double dare you....
To find a better lunch, a better room or a better cocktail than Bacchus.
The room has not changed much over the years, but is more current and relevant than ever.
The shrimp clubhouse is just delicious!
In the past, I've had a number of amazing meals from this menu, it really is hard to go wrong.
Servers are attentive, Not quite as warm and charming as in years past, but the world is changing. No complaints here.
And love that the in parking stupid Vancouver, they will valet your car!!
Pet peeve (as always!) the 3 bridge and tunnel, cackling office dolls that think the whole room, wants to be entertained by their drunken banter (there must be a bar on North Road that you are more familiar with)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 7, 2023
We sat in the lounge section of the restaurant. Beautiful, sophisticated, and relaxing lounge. It takes you back to a era where life was less complicated and moving at a slower pace.
There was a live piano player in the background. Service was fast! The staff were very kind, polite, and helpful with the exception of the bartender: Jesse. Not a very friendly at all.
We also enjoyed our breakfast here 4 days in a row. Their croissants melt in your mouth. Relaxing music in the background. What a beautiful way to ease into your day. Coffee was great. They offer two fresh squeezed juices and a few other juice options.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
