Hailey killed it! This was my first experience at Cabinet Salon and I am so happy with the work that Hailey did. My hair felt so healthy after my appointment and she layered and trimmed my hair to perfection.
I wanted some framing of my face and she was totally receptive to my thoughts and made my hair look better than what I had hoped for. I went to work and instantly got compliments from a number of coworkers. Thank you, Hailey for taking care of me and giving me a wonderful, fresh cut!
As advertised, what makes this studio unique is their hourly rate and no need to factor in gratuity. What is listed on the website in terms of rate/hour is what is due! No catches.
If you haven't been to Cabinet Salon yet and you're shopping around salons- Hailey was wonderful and you can trust her to give you an excellent cut!
Also, when I came in the woman working at the front desk was SO welcoming and warm. She instantly made me feel at home.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Doris W.Santa Barbara, United States041Oct 11, 2023
I had a haircut and I couldn't be happier with the results. Lili, my hairstylist did an amazing job in understanding exactly what I wanted and executed it perfectly. The salon itself had a great atmosphere and the staff were super friendly. I am extremely satisfied and will definitely be returning for future haircuts.

Petra's my girl! She's super personable and creative and gave me just the cut I was looking for - even on a repeat visit when she challenged me to try something that pushed me out of my comfort zone. I really appreciate that she knows how to work with problem hair like mine and is willing to give and take ideas. The salon is a hidden gem, being upstairs, and the front desk peeps are always on the ball. Plus they're cool about returns and exchanges on their products. Unfortunately they only carry one line, which I find way too chemical and perfumed, but they did set me up with a sweet highlighting crayon.

I wanted a haircut randomly yesterday and fortunately they had a spot for me at 5pm. I let them know I would be coming from work so there was a possibility of me being 5-10min late, but they were very nice about it.
It was a little tricky trying to find the salon because it's located on Portland more so than Queen St and it's upstairs above the little gift shop below.
The interior was very cute and cozy. They had one little sofa for guests, and had interesting paintings hung up around the walls. And majority, if not all, their hair products were Bumble and Bumble.
I had Johnny cutting my hair, and he was very nice, we chatted about the city, the weather, and other generic topics. The haircut I wanted wasnt anything dramatic, just a shoulder length cut from the awkward mid boob length I originally had. I asked him if he could style my hair the way the girl in my photo had, which was loose and wavy. He seemed a little surprised that I asked, and it made me feel bad for asking right after, but he did anyway. It felt a little rushed, and the curls were nothing like the one in the photo. Mine were bigger and they were framing my face, whereas the one in the photo had smaller curls with them curled away from the face.
When I had to pay, I paid with my credit card and realized they didnt give me a tip option. I was mortified because I wanted to tip Johnny but I had only brought my credit card. So next time I will be bringing cash or paying via debit.
I wasnt in love with my results, but I'm still planning to go back to get some colour done.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Olivia S.Queens, United States132711Apr 5, 2019
So I didn't actually get to make it to my appointment here, which is a real shame considering the great pictures and quality pricing that they have, but I wanted to express how kind they are. I had an appointment booked but was unable to make it because of a very delayed flight. I felt just awful because I didn't want to waste their time. They were SO NICE about it! Tucked away on the upper floor of an historic building along Queen West exists a place I thought was only a myth: A salon where the staff are not only incredibly good at what they do and up on the current trends, but inviting and friendly at the same time. And of course, everyone that works here has got great hair!
Its not cheap ($50) for a cut, but damn, its worth every penny. You know you've had a great cut when it looks just as good growing out as it did the day it was done. Emma is an incredible stylist, concerned that you leave not only happy, but delighted - and she is determined to make it so.
I am thrilled I've finally found my niche, and I always look forward to my next appointment.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jenny T.Toronto, ON274417339Sep 1, 2016
I really enjoyed the cut that I got here. Just picked this place due to proximity and Yelp reviews. My hairdresser was professional, did not get water in my ears when she washed it :) That is always a good sign. I loved the in-house shampoo that she used, smells delicious.
She cut my hair shorter and I loved the cut. There's really not much to it. The Yelp check-in bonus was great too. I'd come here again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Emily-Rose G.Toronto, ON11335Dec 8, 2015
After reading so many positive reviews, I was excited to get my hair done at The Cabinet Salon.
Unfortunately I won't be returning as I ended up having the worst (& most expensive) colour I have had in my life as well as a less-than-impressive trim.
I had had a colour correction consultation appointment a week prior to the actual appointment, and was told that what I wanted was doable.
I was going from a super dark cool toned box-dyed brown to my natural colour, a medium ash brown. I emphasized my want for a natural look and showed pictures of what I was going for, but ultimately walked out with a patchy bright red with dark brown streaks.
My bangs were noticeably darker than the rest of my hair and the stylist offered to fix it for no extra charge in a follow-up appointment. That was polite & all, however, I couldn't get a follow-up appointment until a week later and so I walked around with crazy-looking hair and puzzled looks from friends & acquaintances for a week packed with presentations and meetings. As you can imagine, I was less than thrilled - especially after dropping $300.
Today, about two months later, I finally had my hair fixed to the medium ash brown I had desired months ago at another salon outside of Toronto. I explained to today's stylist what my Cabinet stylist had done & how he had done it and she was shocked. The Cabinet stylist used bleach in patches (as though he were highlighting my hair) to lift my colour, whereas today's stylist used an all-over colour correction cream. She also said she noticed "holes" my cut, which admittedly, I hadn't noticed prior to her mentioning.
I definitely won't be back. Though the vibe of the salon is great, the location is convenient & the stylists are friendly, my hair - what really matters - was a mess, even at such a high price point.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
