I ordered dinner from King Do Seafood restaurant for Sunday night dinner and was very disappointed by what i received.

      I ordered via Uber eats.
      My courier was excellent.

When I opened the package to get started, I noticed that the deep fried prawns were packed in such a way that allowed the steam to vent, and kept them crispy. This was a nice touch. That's almost entirely the top end of why I liked this restaurants food.

The wonton soup was lukewarm and bland. They provided me with some soy sauce that helped it out afterwards, but otherwise it was bland, and muted, with fresh vegetables at least, and cooked well for what it was. Very standard wonton soup.

The deep fried prawns were.. nasty. Not only was the first prawn I bit into tough, chewy, and overcooked, but it became apparent that my order had been cooked a second time, and served to me. The inside of the prawns were rock hard, brittle, rubbery and overcooked shrimp, that did NOT have the veins removed, and the outside was golden brown. I've never heard of a deep fried prawn having darker colour inside than out, unless it was old food, REFRIED, to give to someone later. And the veins were still in?? Gross. Threw this dish away.

As for my Mongolian beef.. there were undercooked pieces of beef. Flavour and heat was nice but... undercooked? Come on..

Ruined dinner for Sunday night, with all around bad food practice, at a high price for what you get- recycled food and undercooked beef, with a side order of bland soup.

I'm sorry but I will not be ordering from here ever again.
And I think my dinner is cancelled

Revisited this place after a long time. Food and staff have all changed. I found the place to be sooo cold. The server who took our order was working while wearing a winter coat... I had to keep my winter coat on as well throughout my meal. The sweet and sour pork and fried rice were ok. The crepes for the Peking duck were stale.

I think the food is pretty much hit and miss.

The first time I was here was with friends after the lunch rush last year. The food was way better then. Maybe because they were not as busy after the rush? Or maybe because a friend in our party knew the owner? It was a good experience.

My next visit was a year later right when they opened. The food was not as good as the first time. Maybe we were the first customers?

The bowls and spoons and cups were dirty. We had to ask for replacements. Be sure to check.

The Chinese donut in the rice rolls tasted old. Either refried in old oil or reheated till it was hard.

The congee was very watery and bland. We had to ask for soy sauce. The fried soy noodles was partially cooked and very salty.

The har gow and eggplant with shrimp paste were much better.

The star dish was the salted fish and chicken fried rice. That was very tasty. The chili sauce we were given was not very good, maybe we should have asked for chili oil or something instead.

The service was good even though they were busy. More people came in about 30 minutes after they opened and was almost full.

Prices have also gone up and it is now about $7 for a dim sum basket.

Parking is available at the back or in front.

My family has been eating here on and off for the past few years. When my parents and I had Dim Sum here a few weeks ago, I figured it was time I write a review.

The restaurant is located on one of the main thoroughfares in Surrey; you would need to have prior knowledge of this restaurant location to eat here. There is a small parking lot in the front, plus more spaces in the back. My parents and I have always always managed to find a parking spot, though I suspect it's because we usually try to go later in the Dim Sum hours in an attempt to avoid the rush.

We managed to snag one of the last small tables and were given menus and magic markers to circle our orders. (My one complaint here is that the markers were orange and made the orders hard to see). We decided on the following dim sum dishes:

Prawn Rice Roll. There were only four prawns in the entire dish, but they were JUMBO and at least twice as big as the other prawn rice rolls I have tried in the past. Good for a table of four, else you will have to figure out your own unique way of cutting up the prawns.

Steamed Scallop & Prawn Dumplings. My only complaint here is the dish only came with three dumplings, whereas I expected four (I guess that's only for steamed prawn dumplings). Besides that, I appreciated the generously sized scallop and shrimp roe to accompany the dumpling.

Steamed Shanghai Dumplings (aka Pork Soup Dumplings). Having been spoiled by some awesome soup dumplings I've had in Vancouver restaurants, I had some unfairly high expectations. These dumplings seemed to only have a tiny bit of soup inside, and I admit I was a bit disappointed. While it is nice to know I have this option to order, I think I will save my Soup Dumpling orders for other restaurants.

Halibut Rod with Shallots & Onions. After the experience with the soup dumplings (see above), this dish more than made up for it. I've tried the halibut rod at fancier restaurants before and found this dish seemed to contain nothing but skin on halibut bones, and always came away feeling a little ripped off. I was impressed with this dish: there was a ton of meat on each halibut rod and I happily chomped my way through this dish. I think I will vow to order this dish only when I'm at King Do.

My impressions from this visit: while there is at least one higher end Seafood Restaurant a short drive away, I like the vibe. It is a place frequented by locals where the tea is hot, the vast majority of the food is good, prices palatable and service is friendly.

Verdict: Foodies who wish to indulge their taste-buds can find higher end Seafood Restaurants a short drive down the road (you will pay more), but those who have a craving for Dim Sum and a good time conversing with friends can achieve that by choosing King Do Seafood Restaurant.

No delivery every time I call (I call because their prices are increasing weekly) and on their website the prices are not updated and about 30 to 40% more. I have ordered from their website and made sure the order was at least $30 for delivery but when they arrive it's $45.00. Also had very bad over cooked watery wontons.

We ordered from King Do tonight as some wanted Chinese food and others wanted dim sum. They have an amazing variety of both. We were blown away by the portion sizes. The dumplings were humongous (almost the size of my fist) and equally as delicious. They were extremely generous with the chicken and shrimp in the House Special Fried Noodles. It all tasted fresh and so flavorful. We will definitely be ordering again!

Came by for some dim sum goodness as a group.

Parking is available in the secret hidden lot behind the the building. There are also some spots in front.

The inside is rather dated (looks like 1980s) but typical for the type of restaurant.

This place also has live seafood (didn't try this time) and fresh BBQ (pork, duck etc.) that is also available for takeout.

Staff were friendly, though we did have to wave them down a few times.

As of the time of writing, dim sum are mostly some $6 a basket. I must say that the portion sizes are nice and large. Brings me back in time to the 1990s or so, when a basket was really a basket. Food quality is quite decent. Nothing was overcooked, and everything seemed quite fresh.

My friends and I loaded up here. They definitely don't skimp out. As a result, we ended up ordering too much food. First world problem.

The only complaint is that there were some flies inside that we had to wave away every once in a while. They do have an electric bug zapper on the wall though. We heard a few pops while eating.

I will definitely be back in the future. Recommended.

Came here for dim sum with friends. We ordered a lot of food. There were 5 of us and we ordered 16 items. OMG, we left super super full. The prices are way cheaper than Vancouver or Richmond.
      We had the following:
      Steamed Prawn Dumplings
      Steamed Porkshrimp Dumplings
Steamed Chicken Feet in Black Beans
      Steamed Mini Sticky Rice Wrap
      Steamed BBQ Pork Buns
Steamed Bean Curd Wrap in Oyster
      Deep Fried Pork Shrimp Dumplings
      Pan Fried Eggplants Shrimp Paste
      Shanghai Bun
      Chicken Fish Fried Rice
A dish of BBQ pork, Roast Pig and BBQ Duck

The portion size here are huge. It is like what dim sum used to be 10 or 15 years ago in Vancouver. Everything was very tasty. We go the Chrysanthemum po'er tea. Service was good. I will definitely be back.

Came here on a Sunday after church because my grandparents were craving dim sum. I had zero expectations but was pleasantly surprised at the service and quality of food ! it wasn't too busy, maybe half the tables were full, but our server checked on us pretty frequently; providing napkins and refilling our tea, etc. I don't get dim sum often but I enjoyed everything we ordered, the dumplings were hot and tasty. My only inconvenience was that they missed an item, however we were already full when we realized (with leftovers too; portions were generous) so we didn't even mention it in the end . Parking can be difficult during peak hours, but I 100% recommend if you're in the area!

This restaurant is now called "New King Do Seafood Restaurant" as new ownership took over. It has been a number of years since I have eaten at this restaurant. For starters, the restaurant did not have any rice rolls available during their dim sum hours. I am not sure if it was because it was a weekday afternoon that affected the availability. Then our server processed our order incorrectly and missed an item. We had to bring it to her attention to get our order straighten out. Our teapot water was not refilled until we asked our server to do so. Basically, the service side was below average.

The food was surprisingly good for Surrey standards. My parents told me it was their favourite restaurant after eating dim sum at a couple other restaurants in Surrey this past month. Portion size was good for the price. I liked that lotus leaf was used to make the sticky rice wrap. Sometimes restaurants would use another leaf to cut costs. There was bits of pork, a piece of sausage, a bit of duck egg yolk and garlic slices in the rice. It was flavourful and aromatic. Only downside was it was not served as hot as I would have liked. The middle of the wrap tasted a bit cold. The dumplings were made well. The congee was some of the best I have eaten recently. The noodles had wok hei and showed a skilled kitchen chef doing the cooking.

There is not much parking spots available which is the downside. Credit card payment accepted. The food was enjoyable so it compensated for the underwhelming service. Ambiance is dated and nothing fancy. I would come back on a weekday to try other items. I would not stop by on a weekend and hunt for a parking spot.
