These tacos are out of this world - highly recommend the bistec (grilled steak), pescado (haddock), & carnitas (pork confit). Their pina mojito is also bomb.
The patio is super cute in the summer, & the servers are really chill/easy going. - Madison H.Toronto, ON91101012/20/2023
I came here with my friend on Sunday. I had two tacos and a spicy margarita. The service is great, food and drinks were ok, but the price was hefty.
- Pescado taco $9.00: 4/5, batter fried fish was crispy well balanced with green sauce and pink cabbage coleslaw
- Chorizo con papa $9.00: 2.5/5, potato to meat ratio is too high and didn't have enough sauce to round out the acidity of the chorizo
- Spicy margarita $13.50: 4.5/5, I loved this drink it was very tasty
Good experience overall but not memorable enough to warrant a return anytime soon. - 55852031/5/2023
Long story short:
Delicious and fresh tacos in a warm welcoming atmosphere!
Long story long:
Great place to go for tacos! There is limited seating, often in tables of 2, so I can see it filling up very quickly. It may be more difficult to get in without reservations. The decor is vibrant and eclectic. Our waiter was kind, attentive and helpful when we had questions.
We tried the guacamole and salsa to start, followed by the pascado and tinga de pollo tacos. Fair warning that it is a bit on the expensive side and it is only 1 taco per order. They are fresh, a big more stuffed and well made, so I think it's worth it! The pascado taco was delicious and less spicy. On one hand, it's great that the menu is small, so it's easier to choose and stick to it, but I was hoping there were more options that were not as spicy (my tolerance is shamefully low). Each taco had a bit of a kick. The tinga de pollo was great too, with plenty for 1 portion, just a bit too much on the spicy side for me! Seeing me struggle, the waitress offered to get me a different one, which was lovely hospitality, but I declined because I'm not a coward.
That dessert menu was tempting. We didn't indulge in it this time, but it's on my list for next time. I recommend a visit! - 12715758712/12/2022
Located just one road away from the kings street prime spot, this location is an interesting spot. As expected there is no parking allocated for this place due to its location but there are few parking spots near the area.
THE AMBIANCE on the inside looked a bit messy. This spot is a TACO specialist place so the food orders get served almost in no time. This place have both indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered for a spicy margarita and the classic one. Also we ordered for the Polo Al Pastor Taco
To start of with the Margarita was very well done but not all Taco's were great. The staffs were very good and very clear at explaining their menu. The price of the items were OK
This place is worth a visit for sure if you didn't find a spot at any outlet on kings street. - 4328353711/23/2022Updated review
Came here with 2 friends, reservations are highly encouraged.
Food: (4.5 stars)
The tacos come one large per serving, you need 2-4 for a meal. The tacos are just under $10 on average.
Pascado - the best taco I had here
Tinga des res - very good
Tinga de pollo - very good.
Service:
Friendly staff.1/27/2016Previous reviewA few notices:
- cash and Canadian debit only (should not really impact too many people)
- no reservations
Food (4.5 stars):
+ very high quality tacos.
- expensive. Tacos range from 4.50 to 6.50 Each portions comes with a single taco.
I ended up ordering european fish taco (4.5 star) and a shrimp taco. The shrimp taco (3 stars) was super spicy but tasty. The fish taco was good. I also ended up ordering and splitting guacamole (5 stars) as well. The bill came to $15 before the tip.
Atmosphere (4 stars):
The atmosphere is very simple and cosy, the front room with the open kitchen has seating for around 20 people. There is also a backroom is a bit more spacious with 3 tables for 6, and one table for 2.
This is not a great place for large groups, but a good place to go with a few people for lunch.
Service (5 stars):
The waitress got us right away water with 2 bottles on the side so we can refill it ourselves.
After we ordered, she gave the appetizers first, then the first taco to everyone, then once we finished the second taco. Due to the table not being super large this helped the dining experience. - 24478232098/14/2022
Cute little taco restaurant that's serving up some delicious Mexican food.
Their speciality based on our experience and previous reviews is their tacos lol!
The service was excellent and the ambiance is beautiful with plenty of patio space.
Please note, the place is also 'dog friendly'.
Out of all soft tacos we tried, their chorizo and fish tacos were favorite.
Average price per taco is approximately $8-10.
Also keep in mind the place doesn't stay open late night so if you're looking for some food last midnight go along King St west. - 6441227/9/2022
Had a good time at Campechano with friends. We ordered beers and margarita to start for drinks along with chips and salsa and guacamole as an appetizer. We each ordered different tacos including the vegan spicy mushroom one, al pastor, chorizo, tinga de pollo and pescado. We sat out on the patio and it was a great evening to do so. Our server was so nice and friendly! We will be back.

It's been a few years since I've last had Campechano tacos (being in the GTA and with COVID and all), so I've had massive cravings after trying some pretty bad tacos in Mississauga. My friend and I went downtown today to grab some of these amazing tacos for lunch - and it sure didn't disappoint!
Although the website says that it opens at 12PM, we were told to wait for half an hour more (they were just getting the patio seats set up). So, we walked a few blocks before returning. Despite the vaccine passport being in effect, we weren't asked for our proof of vaccination - unsurprisingly, as the staff were quite busy trying to get everyone seated and served. It may also have been because we were doing outdoor dining (vs. indoor), and I believe the proof of Vx only applies to indoor dining.
I knew I wanted to try the Pescado (top-notch fish taco!) and debated between the Campechano vs. Barbacoa - ultimately settling for the lamb barbacoa after the waitress' recommendation. I've tried both before so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed.
The Pescado was everything I wanted - the fish was fried perfectly and the pickled slaw was the perfect, tangy touch. The Barbacoa was a little heavier - the creamy, spicy sauce kept dripping down my plate (leaving a bright red mess!) but the lamb was deliciously gamey and delicious. My friend got the Pescado, Campechano (skirt steak + chorizo), and Hongos (mushroom) - and preferred them in that order.
Overall, a delicious meal and I'm definitely going to miss this until the next time I return!8/9/2019Previous reviewAfter hearing so much buzz about Campechano both online and among my colleagues, I was ecstatic to finally come here and give it a try. Though I had high expectations, I did not leave disappointed! The vibe of the small place was fantastic, and suffice it to say that the food really stood out (particularly the corn masa tortillas made in-house)!
I had a reservation for 6:30PM, and although there were still some seats when we arrived, there was a line by the time it was 7PM. After asking the server what was popular, my friend and I quickly ordered some tacos each. We shared the guac & chips, and both got the barbacoa (lamb leg with spicy guajillo and jalapeno) and carnitas (pulled pork shoulder with salsa verde), but she also got an additional vegetarian rajas (poblano peppers with cojita cheese).
Guac - It was super interesting to see the guac topped with pomegranate seeds, which added a beautiful pop of vibrant colour and burst of sweet flavour! The guac was good, the chips were delicious, but we adored the smoky dip that accompanied the duo.
Barbacoa - Came with huge and meaty chunks of tender lamb leg. I loved the gamey taste, though the creamy, spicy dressing was a little too heavy for me. That said, this was one of my favourites just because it was so comforting and filling!
Carnitas - Similar to the barbacoa, there were generous and copious amounts of confit pulled pork. Although this was dressed with only salsa verde, I found it to feel a little heavier - mostly because with every bite came a healthy gush of oil drizzling down my chin. It was definitely less spicy, and you could taste the different flavours more!
Rajas - I sampled one bite of my friend's, and found it to be an interesting combination of spicy and sweet (from the peppers). Though this was our least favourite, she did say that when she got to the centre, the melted cheese mixed with the sweet peppers and hot spices was a pretty good combination.
After finishing, my friend and I thoroughly debriefed on our experiences, and our thoughts were:
- The masa tortillas were FANTASTIC. It was both soft and yielding, sturdy enough to hold all the fillings and sauces without being soggy.
- We really appreciated that the toppings/fillings were simple - my friend pointed out that the tacos didn't have any of the heavy, creamy aioli common at other establishments
- We would most definitely come again!!! Or try out the sister restaurant, Good Hombres :) - 5410393174/10/2022
We were going to be in the area meeting friends on a Friday night, but we had some time to kill before the get-together so I scoped out the area on one of those reservations apps and there was Campechano. I'd been wanting to check the joint out for literally years, so when I saw that there was a spot open for 8:00, I grabbed it immediately.
We arrived right on time and were shown to a very tight table right near the front of the restaurant. Normally I'm pretty annoyed when restaurants cram tables together, but I didn't have a problem with it here. The loud atmosphere and dim lighting was exactly what I was in the mood for.
We decided to start with the Guacamole & Salsa ("Served with house-made chips"), and they were fantastic. The chips tasted super fresh, while the guac was creamy and addictive and the salsa was flavorful and spicy. A great start, to be sure.
But the star of the show are the tacos, and I wound up ordering three: Campechano ("Grilled sirloin steak, chorizo, salsa morita"), Pescado ("Beer-battered haddock, red cabbage, chipotle mayo"), and Pollo Al Pastor ("Marinated chicken thigh, pineapple, salsa macha").
I was a little concerned that the $9 price point was a little unreasonable, but any such concerns were rendered moot as the tacos began to arrive. These are enormous concoctions that are more like small burritos than traditional tacos. And the flavors in all three were outstanding. I enjoyed both the Pescado and the Pollo Al Pastor, but the winner for me was the Campechano, which, after I ate it, I proclaimed one of the best tacos I'd ever eaten. It's ridiculously good.
I wanted to finally order the Tres Leches, but they were sadly sold out. This didn't diminish what was otherwise a delicious, enjoyable experience, and I can't wait to return.
