Breathe Yoga Studio though it is small in size with limited facilities/amenities but just have this positive vibe and great teachers.
When I arrived for my first class using my passport, I was really puzzled to see all these students waiting on the stairways... I almost want to push my way through then I realize this is the waiting area!!
The practice room is smallish.. it is as big as some of the waiting area at some of the studio I been to. A small change area with little cubicles for your belongings.
The restorative class I have was great! Instructor walking around and checking making sure we did our posture correctly. She also explained which 7 chakras we working on for each of the poses.
I feel so energized and relaxing at the same time after the class...
Breathe Yoga Studio is another good example that good teachers are the most essential element in a yoga studio!Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Business owner information

WE HAVE MOVED to a much more spacious and luxurious location in The Junction neighbourhood. No more waiting on the stairs! Instead we have a tea lounge where students can enjoy complimentary tea and Yoga magazines. We also have 2 much more spacious studios with natural Canadian hardwood floors and changerooms with showers and a blow dry bar and we also have an infrared sauna.
If you haven't been, please come and check out the new Breathe at 2968 Dundas St W (at Pacific Ave).
Thank you,
Svitlana

After making the move from Vancouver (yoga heaven) to Toronto, I was worried I was never going to find a studio as great as the one I had before. And then I found Breath Yoga Studio...right at the end of my street. It's kind of tucked away, sitting above Simply Thai restaurant, but it's a nice warm space with a beautiful view down Beresford street.
The studio offers a variety of classes; yoga for runners, Ashtanga, Hatha, etc. and almost all of them are taught by instructors with pre-natal yoga experience.
I go mainly for Susan's classes on Tuesday's and Friday's because it's like she doesn't even pay attention to the clock. I know yoga is supposed to be all about being in the moment but literally, time is suspended in her classes (they are supposed to be an hour to an hour and a half and they almost always run for two hours). Susan is careful with her instruction, takes time to meet people in the class, and always comes by to make sure everyone is in the right posture and comfortable.
This place makes me feel gooooooooooooooooood.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Rika M.Mitaka, Japan757Feb 2, 2017
The good points are, cleanliness and instructors. I've already taken 5 classes. My favorite one was Alaine's class.
The bad point was that one receptionist is not helpful. I couldn't find my 5 class passes 3 times. Every after I took a class, I left my card in a box at the reception. (You can choose whether you keep it by yourself or not. For me, I didn't wanna forget to bring it so I put it back to the box)
Every time I check in, I couldn't find my card.....so I asked her that I can get another one but she gave me drop-in card........ I bought, I PAYED for that card but she didn't try reissue new one.
I was so sad.
Except for this incident, I was satisfied with this yoga studio.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Motria D.San Francisco, United States01Nov 28, 2019
Breathe yoga is more than an amazing yoga studio. It is also a centre of wellness and well being. The other week I came to Breathe not feeling very well. After a fantastic yoga class the kind staff offered me a sauna and a cup pf tea. I went from feeling terrible to feeling great. I have been going to Breathe for over 15 years and it is crucial to my mental health and well being.

As i entered the Yoga studio, I was greeted by the receptionist, who was very open, answered any questions, and gave me a tour of the studio. The studio has a really relaxed vibe, and feels more like an asian retreat, perfect if you've been facing a busy day, you can just forget everything, and leave it at the door.
The class has different rooms, I tried a class in the Sun room, heated and warm. I enjoyed the flow and the teacher was direct, and explained it clearly, after the class i felt blissed out and relaxed. I was able to get a hot shower, a cup of herbal tea and head on my way home. I really like this centre, its got a communal feel, and a variety of different classes for all levels. Also close to The sweet potato and The Beet for healthy lunch options :)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 21284Dec 8, 2016
I go here for post natal yoga with my baby. Ronnie is a gem( though the whole staff is welcoming)! I always leave feeling great.

The centre seems efficiently run and it is clean. I guess if nothing goes wrong then you'll probably be ok. The first classes I attended were great. Then the instructor changed (it turned out the one I met was just standing in) - and the experience was much poorer. When I asked, quite fairly I think, to convert the 6-session card into pay-as-you-go (and refund the difference) because what I thought I was buying was in fact not what was on offer, the manager refused. All they were willing to do was extend the validity date so I had more time to attend classes of the effective instructor. Then the manager, in an email exchange, blamed my actions (I didn't want to 'reach out' and discuss other classes) for not being satisfied! I felt it was very poor dealing with a negative situation. Left a bad taste for me.

I've been coming here for about 4 years and counting now, and its still my favourite Yoga studio, and with my Passport to Prana, I've been to a lot. The aesthetic in the studio hasn't changed. Once you climb up to the top floor, there is a peace and serenity and the faint smell of cedar that takes you in to another place. I guess that's what they're going for.
There are classes for everyone here, beginners, experienced, pre natal, hot, not hot. yin, vinyasa. Although regular temperature, the room is a little warmer than normal which I appreciate. It would be great to see a post-natal class or workshop.
My favourite instructor is still Jamiee. Her classes are popular, so come early. Her instruction is precise and i love that she comes around and adjusts. I wish all instructors did that. She always has a nice playlist going, and keeps the class lively, yet zen at the same time.
Perks I like at Breathe, is that mats are available to use if you need one. Colouring book and tea while waiting for the class to begin. Massage available with appointment on premises.Lots of merchandise on sale. Staff are always friendly and willing to help.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Mar 4, 2014Previous reviewI've been coming here for a while, I love the instructors and variety of classes. My favourite is Jamiee's Monday night Vinyasa Groove class. But the purpose of this review about the Beginners Yoga 4 week course.
After about 4 years of yoga practice, and just trying to figure things out as they go along, I finally decided to once and for all get proper instruction and joined the 4 week course. (I considered getting all this with the teachers training course, but the time and financial commitment was too much)
I was apprehensive about this. Will I be bored? Will I get a good workout, and have to supplement my weekly yoga with another class? Will I even learn anything?
I was wrong about all my thoughts.
To answer my questions:
Not bored at all. The class is small (max 8 people). I'm only on the 2nd week and I'm loving so much, I had to write. The 1st week focused on the Sun Salutation including Vinyasas, which has always been a question on my mind whether I'm doing it correctly or not. 2nd week is about standing postures. I believe 3rd week is about Balancing and 4th week there will be some inversions.
An excellent workout. Imagine learning how to do a vinyasa and doing like 10 of them throughout the class. Although it's 1h15m I came out of it feeling like it was a typical yoga class.
I'm learning so much! Its way more than just a 'beginner's class' and goes through all the typical postures that one would find in any level class. You will not be bored. Throughout the entire thing, the instructor would give some tips, pointers and asks if there are any questions. Darren is super patient, informative and really knowledgeable. I love that people who are in my class are quite body aware and there are no stupid questions! I don't find it slow or too fast at all.
This class is excellent for anyone that ever had questions about postures, who wants individual attention and understand the benefits of each posture. Beginner or Advanced, if you've never done a class like this before - it's something I would highly recommend.Nov 22, 2012Previous reviewI love this place, and I'm surprised I never discovered it sooner. As you walk up the stairs to the studio, this great mural - tree of yoga (I need to spend more time looking at this) leads you to another world. A sanctuary of sorts.
I love the wood floors, and very serene decor. The girl at the front desk was really courteous and showed me where everything was.
A high top table sits in the middle in front of one of the studios, with some tea and a small kitchen. To either side are the change rooms.
It's super clean and really nice - I completely appreciate this.
The room is narrow, with a stage for the teacher in the front. No mirrors, which may or may not be a good thing - I would hope that the teacher will make appropriate adjustments if needed. A large inviting buddha sits in the right corner holding a candle and symbols.
Windows are high above eye level not to distract you from your practice.
I took the Hot Vinyasa Flow class. There's only a few heated classes here, including this one and some Hot Yin classes. I would say this is a reduced heat class for those that are accustomed to the hot yoga.
It was quite vigorous but with some calming stretches in between. I've been doing Moksha for so long, that I really want to explore something out side of the same poses over and over. I like this this really gives me a challenge and is something different.
The instructor today was good. Made adjustments where needed. I was surprised that as a first timer at the studio that no one asked about my previous yoga experience, but it could be bc I'm in a Vinyasa Class. Not that it mattered for me.
The ONLY thing that really bothered me that my perfect class and Savasana was ruined by the girls talking loudly outside at the tea/tables area. It's located right out side the studio. It would really be appreciated if people could SHHH and the studio enforces this. Perhaps situating yourself further away from the door will help.
Other than that, I would totally come back here and it's just a few blocks from where I live! New favourite studio alert! - Claire L.Toronto, ON112Sep 2, 2013
I attended a Vinyasa Flow Level 1 class with teacher David at 10am a few weeks ago.
I have been practicing yoga consistently for about one month now but have done yoga for maybe 5 years.
The yoga studio is very neat and tidy, the staff are friendly and were able to answer my questions. I had to sign a waiver form when I signed up for a class, which is normal and the staff showed me around the relatively small studio. They have very nice bathrooms/change rooms.
The Level 1 class was held in a small-ish room, which could comfortable fit about 15 people. I entered the room and assumed I snagged the last spot but to my surprise the teacher asked everyone to move over so instead of fitting four comfortably in each row, there were five people, mats almost touching. I counted 25 people including myself, crammed into that little room. It got really hot, really fast. I could not stretch my hands out to my side or swan dive without hitting some one, not even grazing them, but possibly hitting their chest or middle of the their back because we were all so close. I was so disappointed with this class I considered getting up an leaving, but instead after about 50 minutes of clumsy, overcrowded, hot yoga (not the good hot yoga), I laid on my mat and waited for the class to end.
The teacher, David, was unable to give majority of the the 25 participants any advice or guidance on poses because there were so many of us! I prefer a more intimate yoga class where a teacher can help me. That's the whole reason I attend a class, so this class was very disappointing.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Maddie R.Toronto, ON568011Apr 10, 2012
When Breathe seemingly popped up out of nowhere in the Junction, I was beyond thrilled! The location is very close to my house- hence- I have no excuse not to go all the time now. I was previously a fan of Moksha when I lived on the Danforth (still am), but Breathe is a great substitute now that I'm no longer so close to a Moksha location.
The studio can be very easily missed, as the entrance is at the side of the building and there is only a small sign. It is on the third floor, and is beautifully designed. You can gaze at the treetops while in warrior pose. I've witnessed some lovely sunsets from here. Calm is the foremost word I would use to describe the studio. Calm and clean (?) (seriously...it is extremely clean), and it is never too crowded.
The teachers are great and the classes have a good variety.
Also, they have extra hair elastics/pins if you are short! A godsend!
I can't think of one bad thing about this studio (and I've visited many!). It keeps on impressing me.
Go there!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
