It's that time of year again – little yelpers-to-be head back to school, and a collective sigh of relief sounds from neighborhoods throughout Silicon Valley. Personal time at last! But what to do with that newfound freedom? This week we're here with a yelpload of places that will inspire you to get learned yourself!
Let your creative juices flow and take a class at Bay Area Glass Institute in San Jose. Stacy K calls it "a great little place to get your feet wet with glass work. I took the fusing survey class and had a wonderful time making my piece." Over at The Crafter's Studio in Santa Cruz, Lizzy E signed up for the pajama pants class, and exclaims, "The whole thing's an amazing experience. I got one-on-one help from a teacher who was patient and knowledgeable, and the product turned out beautifully!" And Shalee S is sew crafty after taking a class at Bobbin's Nest Studio in Santa Clara, where she left "with a very cute pillow case and a new hobby."
Got dance fever but have two left feet? Don't fret, Billy Elliot! Valerie V tells us that Ariel Dance in Campbell's "an excellent place for a total beginner and challenging enough for the intermediate and advanced dancer. They will modify across-the-floor moves for you and help you learn technique in a fun way." If you're looking to burn major calories while shaking your booty, Jeannette Z recommends Daniele's UJam class at Wicked. "The selection of music she uses totally gets you pumped up to keep on moving – even when you feel like your legs are about to fall off." Sounds like a blast – literally!
If you have a passion for cooking but aren't ready for culinary school, Walter P suggests taking classes at Draeger's Cooking School in Menlo Park. "I'm not 100% ready for a complete career change, but my love for cooking will always guide me to opportunities to learn from the best." For him that meant Joyce Jue's "Oodles of Pan-Asian Noodles" cooking class. Martin C, who was looking to learn more appe-thai-zing recipes, stepped into the kitchen with Saithong of Yummy Thai Cooking in Belmont and "walked away with many tips and tricks, and a very clear idea of how to add a multitude of taste tones" to his Thai dishes. Yum... sign us up!
