I have to say..I was very skeptical the first time I heard I was being taken out to the Cobalt...and even more skeptical that it was a gay event that I was being taken to...at The Cobalt...the scary punk bar...gay + punk = not my ideal night.

Much to my delight...things had changed at The Cobalt..re-vamped and de-punked yet still keeping a Main Street edge..the place was packed with hot gay men as far as the eye could see...gays, drag queens, pin ball, hot DJ's..what more could you ask for!!!

I have been going there on a regular basis now...they have a lot of awsome nights..queer, straight and everything inbetween...it's so great to have a bar that caters to everyone! The staff are all AMAZING, friendly, sweet...they make you wanna keep coming back....which most staff in Vancouver do not to be honest.

Best nights :Tuesday night you can play ping pong, Fridays which feature live bands, Sundays have a weekly drag show called Apocalypstick with hostess Isolde N. Barron and Queer Bash which is the last Saturday of every month.

It was a dark day last Thursday night....my beloved Ipod....God rest it's soul...sadly passed on after 4 beautiful musical years together...I was still in grief and shock so I hoped the good people at Apple could help me out...so I rushed in and explained what happened...they booked to see an ipod expert within the hour...and while it was unfortunately too late..they were very helpful...understanding...and the technician that was consulting me was almost more upset about the situation then me......the real kicker was that my best friend was getting married the next day and the play lists for her wedding were created on my Ipod...not on my Itunes...so I lost all the play lists...AND..I hadn't backed up my itunes over the years from all the different computers I had...sigh...the loss of my ipod and my music was a lot..and the lovely man at Apple was so sweet to try and help me through my grief....he even went as far as suggesting I go to Simply Computing to see if they could at least save the hard drive and get me my music back...alas...no such luck.....

So..thank you Apple for your help..your compassion...and dealing with a stressed out grieving homo that just lost years of irreplaceable Madonna remixes.....

Sephora should train all other retail company's on how to give exceptional client service..seriously..through my many years as a loyal client I have never once received poor service...ever..and that's a bold statement..

Now...the Vancouver location us busy...understament...REALLY busy..it's new to the city and therefor we are going crazy for it...and since it's busy it's only logically that at times it may be hard to get someone to assist you -HOWEVER -when you do they are extremely helpful, educated, and aware...and while sometimes you may not get one on one undivided attention..you will always have questions asked and be followed up with...

The thing I love the most is that they don't bug you at Sephora..you can feel free to browse at your leisure and not be stalked by pesky associates..and when you do need help they are always there with a vast wealth of knowledge...

Sephora only carries PETA approved brands and are big believers in options..and so they now have a large selection of natural/organic lines for makeup and skin care!

Must buy exclusive brands or hard to find brands : Tarte,Hourglass, Kat Von D, Bliss, Fresh, Philosopy, Caudalie, Ole Henrickson, Dr. Brandt..just to name a few :) ALSO, Sephora brand which is amazing and super affordable!

This review hurts me...like seriously I am in pain knowing that I have to give a Whole Foods 3 stars..I may need a moment of silence to morn this rating...but I feel I have to..and this is why..

Your client service sucks...like...REALLY sucks...I have yet to be in a line up and not wait like 20 mins...even when I'm the only other person in line...and then when I finally get to a cashier they are generally rude..what the eff? Whole Foods is like the happiest place on Earth..relax..smile...be nice...you're job is not hard..I have done it..

AND..the deli..OMG the deli...what takes sooooooooooo bloody long.,..you're making a sandwich not creating a cure for cancer..speed up people...glaciers more at a steadier pace then you people!

The only saving grace that keeps me going is..well...it's Whole Foods...the selection is awesome..the food is sooo fresh and delicious..they carry many products that are hard to find anywhere else..so for that alone I will keep going..but serioously...you need to work on your staffs time management skills...

Once again....this hurts me..I'm sorry...but PLEASE get it together!!!

This would personally not have been my first choice for a hotel stay...but...my company has a corporate rate and this is where I spent 2 whole weeks!! At first when I scoped it out on line I was a bit concerned but once I arrived I was pleasantly surprised!

Now, to be honest..it's not like a Holiday Inn is ever gonna be 5 star...but ...it was clean...the staff were super nice..and the location is awesome! You are right on Bloor Street just steps away from lots of great attractions including th ROM and all the great shopping on Bloor. The Annex neighborhood is also right near by and has a lot of great little shops, pubs and much more. There are tons of subway stations around so nothing is ever too far to get to.

I do have a warning though...if you are having an extended stay such as myself...then beware the Fox and Fiddle restaurant in the hotel...room service becomes way too convenient and trust me..4 days of Fox and Fiddle food is not going to sit well with your body...I know this from experience...'nuff said....there are sooo many great eating options in the neighborhood so I suggest you explore!

Also..after the first week the maid sorta gave up on cleaning my room..they would make the bed but that was about it......I guess I over stayed my welcome???

I was a huge Subeez fan back in the day...it used to be the place to go on a Friday night..all the cool kids would be there..Yaletown had yet to explode into the urban pretension it is now...and years later it's still pretty cool..it's lost its edge a bit..but the service is still for the most part bad..the food is still ok..the music is still too loud.. and the candle wax is still dripping into huge mounds....hmmm..why do I like to come here??

What I have recently discovered about Subeez is their great patio! Great bench seating..nice sun exposure...perfect for enjoying the afternoon with some friends while catching some rays!! The pitchers of Sangria are only about $18 and you can order a decent lunch for about $14ish..not cheap but not too expensive...I personally like the chicken and brie on baguette OR the salmon on baguette!

I just stopped in the other day for lunch with a friend and what shocked me was we actually had good service..I know..take a minute to absorb that piece of information...but the server was super pleasant and down right bubbly..no attitude and even brought us our order in a timely matter..what the eff? This is SO not the Subeez I loved..although a nice change..I have to wonder if the Yaletown pretension has worked it's way into Subezz...great..what's next? Are the staff at  Foundation gonna start to be nice too??

So...round 2...still holding with 4 stars despite the fact that I had the Butcher of Seville for a dental hygienist. It's never good when you hear someone say "oh dear, we have a bleeder" ...a tad unsettling...

I have yet to go for the root canal..hold out for that red letter day..but I did go back for a new filling and to have two older ones replaced. I swear to you I brush twice a day..I don't eat a lot of sweets and I get plenty of calcium..mmm cheese...but the lack of continually flossing has left my teeth very unhappy with me...let this be a lesson to you all...FLOSS!

The filling went alright..only an hour and a bit and I didn't even feel the needle! Other them some slight drooling later and the need of a straw to drink a beer..it was an ok dental experince..and I even learned something new about myself...I'm a "bleeder"..joy...

I know right...it seems odd to give any place 4 stars that uses the words "root canal" and "gingivitis"...but here I am doing just that.

I have been putting off the dentist for a while now and although I wasn't thrilled with the results of my check up...the words "root canal" did in fact come up...I was happy with the experience over all.

The staff were all great..I am pretty sure the girl at reception could smell my fear and was great at keeping me calm and collected! The hygienist was sweet and kept up a good distracting conversation..which I pretty sure is the main reason they are there:)

My Dr. was awesome...he was gental..he kept checking in while cleaning to make sure I was ok and he thoroughly explained everything after the cleaning was over.

Some other fun facts...they take your picture to have on file so they remember who you are..they also take A LOT of pictures of your teeth..which no dentist ever has and was kinda weird..but..meh...an d my FAVE part was the TV on the roof and head phones they give you...thank ladies of The View for being my distraction!

I will report back after the root canal...lets see how many stars that experience is gonna deserve....

I thought my mission would be a simple one...all I needed was dirt...how complicated could it be to buy dirt..right?? Well it was much complicated then I thought...but thankfully the helpful staff of Home Depot was there to help!

I was wondering aimlessly through the garden department looking at all the types of soil...like I said I had NO idea that there was like 20 different kinds...I must have looked pretty confused because out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimpse of an orange smock coming towards me.

Her- "what are you planting"??

Me - "oh..umm..just some herbs and some wild grasses..maybe some succulents"?

Her - "well then, you are going to need a few types of soil. You will defiantly need something more organic and natural for the herbs, since you will be eating them. The grasses can have something pretty basic, as can the succulents. Actually, depending on what you are plants the succulents in, you could use just small rocks. What types of fertilizer are you using?? Mushrooms are great...."

me- "ummm..ok"..*blink *blink

her - "how about you tell me your budget, the planter sizes and I will bring you what you need"

me - "perfect, awesome..thank you"

And so..off she went and in a flash I had a cart full of soil and all the all my planting needs. She shared a lot of useful tips on planting and care for all my plants to ensure there best care.

I now have thriving happy plants thanks to her!

You had me at "comfort food"......

Maccaroni and Cheese...Chilli..Ste ws..French Onion Soup with more bread and cheese then soup....foundu...Bur goo is a foodies God send...even the cocktails are comforting and fantastic..although put booze in any form and I'm excited...

This is definatly a fall/winter spot to grab some good homemade nosh..not recommended for hot simmer nights as unfortunity some freinds and I discovered..which is unfortunate because they have a fab patio..but not the menu that suites the heat..

Calorie watchers beware...Burgoo is not your friend....
