Alma Dental Centre

Neighbourhood: Point Grey
Loads of students go to Alma Dental, because it accepts the UBC extended health plan, and it begins with "A," putting it at the top of the list when searching for network coverage. BUT! People keep going back to Alma & recommending it because the dentists are awesome.
So, I was a bit afraid of going, worrying that I had 10 cavities. I had the most thorough teeth cleaning of my life by a most competent dental hygienist, had a full set of x-rays done, and then a good examination and chit chat with the dentist about my teeth.
Cavity verdict? I really have just one. Wow. Best $40 I've ever spent. The filling has been great with no pain or sensitivity and I definitely plan on going back next time I need a check up.

After climbing back down from Garibaldi, we decided to head back towards Vancouver and look for campsites on the way. Thank You Stawamus Chief Park! For $5, you get a clean, shady and sheltered campsite with a nice view over the water and of The Chief. Bathrooms are pretty clean for outhouses, and there is fresh drinking water on tap near the entrance of the camping grounds.
The nice thing about the campgrounds is that they are reserved for tent camping. A number of (non-BC Parks) camping areas around Squamish are primarily for RVs, which gives the place a different vibe. Some of those campgrounds had pretty permanent looking / sketchy mobile homes. So, camping at The Chief was just great. There aren't any showers, but that's ok.
Here comes Naked Lunch. I've been here a bunch of times on my way to Whistler, etc. and the food has always been hot, delicious, and wholesome! My favorite is the vegetable panini with a soup (or fries!). The veggie sandwich is also good. If you can get there before 11:30, the breakfast menu is worth trying!
For the meat eaters - Naked Lunch roasts their own beef and turkey. They also cater, too!
The other reason why Naked Lunch is a good place to stop in Squamish is because the cafe is nestled between Save on Foods and Shoppers, just in case you need to pick up some extra things on your trip!

Picasso's Sports Cafe

The veggie burger is delish. So are the fries. Mmmm. There's a fantastic spinach & mushroom calzone, too! My meatetarian bf says that Picasso's has the best wings in town. I'll take his word for it.
Other than that, it's pretty much what you'd expect from a local bar / sport's bar - eh on the clean scale and douchy on the music scale. Watch out for karaoke... The regulars can really belt out some tunes!

The Liberty

I've been here a few times, and each time I go back it is because I forget how much I didn't like it before.
So, I tell the server I'm a vegetarian, and she helpfully suggests that I put a few side dishes together to make a meal. Good idea.... oh wait... they come out as side dishes. Would it be that hard to put them on one plate?
My biggest problem with The Liberty, though, is that the portions of all the dishes are totally unpredictable. My asparagus side dish literally had 6 sticks of asparagus. Whereas, the mac n cheese dish was a giant crucible of stomach-ache-inducing carb/fat. One of my dinner companions ordered a fish taco entree, and it was literally 2 small tacos.
I probably won't be back, because for the beer selection, I might as well go to Common Market.
