Get there super early if you want to eat right when Grand Electric opens.

My friend lined up at 5:30 p.m. and we managed to grab the last, large table for our party of six.

Despite of the lines to get in, Grand Electric is a lovely place for dinner. Our party ordered a variety of tacos but the ones that were my favourites were: Baja fish and beef cheeks. We also tried the ceviche too - so good and fresh!

Known for their cocktails, the G.E. Bourbon Sour is a must. Their selection of bourbons is impressive.

Definitely come here to good food and the vibe but coming here after the rush. It won't be as crowded.

Art Gallery of Hamilton

Ontario's third largest art gallery is the Art Gallery of Hamilton (AGH).

The gallery underwent a renovation a few years back and the efforts are worth it: the architecture is modern and airy. There are several rooms dedicated to current and permanent exhibits, as well as a small cafe and sculpture courtyard.

The gallery is easy to get to as it's on King Street, one of the main arteries in the city. Admission to the gallery is a definite draw. For a major exhibit (currently it's Emily Carr), the adult ticket is $10. What a value!

Take a look through their gift shop too and buy items from local Hamilton artists.

I love places like these: airy, friendly, great food and atmosphere.

This cafe stands right on James Street and in the middle of Hamilton's artistic community. They have a great patio which is very popular on sunny days but you can sit inside where you can people watch or admire the artwork on the walls.

Instead of coffee, I had their smoothie (mango-strawberry) and their oatmeal-cranberry cookie.

Delicious!

Vivek, I'm sad to see you go but thanks for organizing a great party to say goodbye. Good luck with all future endeavours.

Great pick on the venue - I've been wanting to check out Church for some time. The drinks were delicious - The New Testament was an orange creamsicle delight! I tried every single appetizer they served: stuffed mushrooms, pasta in a poutine box, mini pizza squares, meat kebabs, rice balls. Who needs dinner when I had an array of great apps at Church!

As always, it's nice to see my favourite Yelp people in one place.

À bientôt, Vivek!

It's one of my favourite local organic grocers.

They have narrow aisles which can be a pain on busy weekends when everyone else is shopping.

Their selection is three times better than other organic stores nearby and much less expensive, except for their grocery items. Granted, the food is organic but I still end up shopping at my favourite grocer up the street, and get everything else I need here.

Since the name changed from Albert's Real Jamaican Foods, I haven't tried Pat's Homestyle until last night. Shame on me because I was in for quite a delicious meal.

I ordered the oxtail dinner which according to other reviews is the best. It was indeed and it should be since it's the priciest item on the menu. But for $13, you get meat that's flavourful and fatty, and a pile of rice and peas that doesn't lack in spice. I loved the gravy sauce and next time I'll ask for more on my plate because it was so delicious.

Sake Sushi Bar

My friends and I converged to Sake Sushi bar after spending a night drinking a few bottles of soju and (badly) belting out karaoke tunes.

It was a busy Saturday night in Koreatown and Sake was no exception. We walked in and from first appearances all of the tables were full. But lucky for us, they had a table available for five more slightly inebriated people like ourselves.

I liked their menu: order from the A, B, C's which is a dish and your choice of drink, either five beers or one bottle of soju. The dishes are tapas style and we ordered a variety of plates like spicy salmon, tempura, teriyaki noodles and sushi rolls. The food tasted great and my favourite was salmon pieces served with salad and marinating in a spicy sauce. My friends and I devoured it!

The staff was friendly, accommodating and very patient. We weren't the only drunks in the restaurant and their service was top notch. I'm coming back but slightly more sober.

After seeing the great documentary "Jiro Dreams of Sushi", I desperately needed to eat sushi. But my go-to sushi restaurant was closed on Sunday, as were many other sushi restaurants in the neighbourhood, except for To-ne.

The restaurant was quiet which was nice. I ordered from their special menu: Albacore Tuna sushi and Rocky Mountain Roll.

The albacore tuna was delicious, fresh and gentle in flavour.  The Rocky Mountain Roll was spicy salmon in the roll as well as on top, along with jalapenos and drizzled with a coconut cream sauce. It sounds spicier than it was, it had a nice kick to it and the coconut sauce was something different. I also loved the presentation of the mini floral arrangement on the plate. How pretty!

Each dish is served with a great miso soup that includes noodle and tempura bits.

Still hungry, I ordered the gyozas that came piping hot. They were tasty, but I realized that it was a mistake on my part to eat something fried after enjoying a nice light dinner. Oh well. Lesson learned.

To-ne Sushi is a nice little place and one I'll keep in mind when I'm craving sushi on a Sunday again.

A great brunch spot if you can get a table.

I came with friends on Sunday and it was packed. You can make a reservation but you have to wait a while before you can sit down. The staff are really friendly and we enjoyed a great service.

The food plates are a decent portion. I ordered the Croque Lola which is similar to a Croque Monsieur sandwich and I was thinking of ordering a side of bacon. I ended not doing that and that was a good idea because by the end of the my plate I was FULL!

Their brunch menu is pretty extensive but it can accommodate any diet. While none specifically say "vegan", our server told us that they make any dish vegan. Just let them know. This was great as two of my friends are vegan.

Lola's a place I'd definitely return to!

A tasty meatball sandwich!

I ordered The Rodfather, a messy but tasty pork-and-beef sandwich that came highly recommended. I managed to not make a mess of it by cutting it in half and slowly eating every morsel to savour it the bolognese sauce. It's definitely a good sandwich and the salad that came with it was equally good. No ugly, mushy leaves were found nor left on my plate.

The mac n cheese meatball plate looked good too. It tasted good. I'll order that next time.

I also really enjoyed the sodas. I ordered the pressed apple which was gingery and cider-like but the cream soda was definitely one I need to get next time. Anything with a cream soda flavour I love.

Hey Meatball, I'll be back!
