One of those great little easy-to-miss places that I'm glad I found. While in Victoria and working in the neighborhood was told about Fresh Cafe by a co-worker. There is nothing fancy, but wonderful sandwiches and soups, and generous size portions.

I'm impressed. Basement hide-away with great food, excellent service. We were there for a fund-raiser so Guilt & Co was closed to the public and we had their undivided attention. A constant stream of tasty appetizers followed by an excellent meal and wonderful selection of deserts, the food was excellent.

The tables are probably a bit small and low for dining, but I think this place is probably more for hanging out with a few drinks and enjoying some great live music. For that, Guilt & Co is perfect.

I kind of felt like years ago this place might have been a haven for bootleggers and rum-runners with hidden passages and tunnels. Very cool atmosphere.

As London Drugs locations go, this one is excellent

Large, plenty of parking, great selection. My pet peeve about this location (and all the retailers in this big box complex) is that its location requires that you own a car, and drive to get there.

If you are looking for a London Drugs with a large selection and ample parking in South Burnaby, this one is your choice.

Normally I'm REALLY not a fan of Tim Hortons. I actually like this location. Great staff, clean and decent facility. Overall i'd be happy to return to this location.

Save yourself the lineup down the street.

Takis, in my mind, is every bit as good as Stephos down the street, without the lineup. I love Kleftiko, and Takis does a great job of that. I love rack of Lamb, and Takis does a good job of that.. I love Saganaki and Takis does a great job of that. As others have stated, greek fare is pretty consistent everywhere - a heaping plate of potato wedges, rice and greek salad.

There's nothing stellar about Takis, nor is there anything I hate about it. It's our go-to for greek food in the West End of Vancouver.

So after all the hype, I went expecting something amazing.

The lunch time line up is always a good sign. The staff move people through extremely efficiently which means the long line doesn't mean a long wait. There is a host at the door welcoming you and explaining menu options which definitely impressed me. I felt I really had to try the Porchetta sandwich, and they had a potato soup which I tried as well. One LONG shared table is where everyone searches for a seat, there are a couple of cramped tables near the window. If you are looking for a private intimate place for a business meeting this is not the place.

Like everyone else has said, the Porchetta was tasty and, while I'm sure far from healthy with all the salt and fat, I would go back for it again. I should have trusted my gut instinct on the Potato soup - I didn't finish it. Incredibly bland and uninteresting.

Overall, I'd say this is a solid lunch place. I doubt you'd be unhappy. I can't say it's anything more than A-OK three stars for me however.

Why wasn't I born Mexican???

When I was a kid I thought authentic tacos had hard shells. When I was a kid I thought that authentic tacos were filled with ground beef, shredded lettuce, and shredded cheddar. Then again, when I was a kid I thought Speedy Gonzalez, Wyle E Coyote and Roadrunners roamed the cactus filled deserts of Mexico.

Seriously - there's not a sign of my childhood ground beef, lettuce and cheddar hard-shelled tacos at La Taqueria. That's great because I never liked them. Lots of awesome, intriguing, unusual fillings stuffed into pancake size corn (not flour) tortillas. The shredded lettuce is replaced by cilantro. And your choice of salsas. So many choices - you can mix and match your favorite content. I'm in heaven. And now that this location has opened up next to the Broadway Skytrain station - well I'm a regular.

Woo hoo! Luxury!

I agree with Ashleigh, if you get one of the villas your stay will be sweet! Waking up with a beautiful view of the fairways. Soaking in your private Jacuzzi, or relaxing in front of one of the fireplaces in your bedroom or living room. Wandering out of your back door and relaxing in a lawn chair beside the fairway. Full kitchen! 5 shower heads in the shower! I'm impressed! Yes, it's starting to age. Flat screen televisions would be a nice addition. The fireplace in my bedroom had an extremely noisy fan which cannot be switched off. Those two items cause it to lose a star. But overall you can't go far wrong here.

Just so you know, not all the suites in the place are created equal. Only the higher priced suites include the full kitchen or Jacuzzi, so be sure to ask what you are getting when making reservations.

A-OK.

If you go expecting consistent and good food, you won't be disappointed. If you expect to be amazed or dazzled then you've come to the wrong place. I like the pastas, the pizzas are decent. If I'm in Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver or Whistler, I always know that at Boston Pizza I'll get the same quality and service. Some days that's exactly what I'm looking for.

Fine dining prices with so-so food and service

Traders opened up where The Keg used to be - and we decided to try it out for Valentines day - arriving at 6 PM. We didn't order off their special Valentines sheet, rather we ordered off the menu.

Two of us were seated at a small table for two. Considering the entire section was empty it would have been nice to have a slightly more spacious table to spread out and relax at.  

First, considering we were practically alone for most of our time there, the service was disappointing. Not inattentive, but not the type of service I would expect for the price.

Second, the servings were smaller than I expected. I hoped that maybe the steak would wow me and make up for the size of the servings, but it was really just a decent steak. With scalloped potatoes and grilled veggies I was not wowed by the food at all.

The steaks were good, tender and prepared the way we asked.

Two people, two tenderloin steak dinners, one glass of wine, two deserts, a coffee and a tea - just under $100.00 not including tip. Seems a bit steep for what we got. Considering the great dining options within a few blocks radius, I doubt we'll return to Traders.
